What are you going to replace your MacBook Pro, iPhone, and iPad with when they remove the audio port?

Its one thing to say you will do something and another thing entirely to actually do it.

I'm on the fence between a 4k MSI-GS series laptop with a GTX 1070m and Kaby Lake or a 1440p Razer Blade with the same CPU and GPU.

They're both cheaper than the 15" rMBP. The MSI GS is comparable in size to the rMBP but with a 2.5" drive bay, an M.2 drive bay and socketed ram.
The Razer Blade is like a more compact 15" MBA would be but with a 2.5" drive bay and socketed ram.

Both have headphone jacks.

Today's been a day I've been looking forward to for two and a half years.

Today we will remove every port, on every device.....and we're calling it i. Yes, just i.

We decided to leave out all of the other letters and hardware. This took a tremendous amount of partnering between our engineering and design teams.

i is the most personal device we've ever created. It removes everything: The screen, the A0 processor, the home button, and even the camera. You've never seen anything this thin on a consumer level product. It's so groundbreaking, I can't even show you a video on it. Just use your imagination to create the perfect device in your mind.

i comes in any color you want. i is completely waterproof and scratchproof. Speaking of imagination, for those with really big imaginations, we're also launching the i +.

Today, Apple reinvents the letter i.

Apple has been sending out surveys in recent weeks, so either:
Apple is working on a new MBP currently, this means no new MBP until sometime next year
or
Apple has a new MBP, with very few ports, that they intended to release this year, but have only just realised that so few ports is a stupid idea for a Pro laptop.

If they make a decent wireless headsets that work with lync/Skype for business. Tried using beats and they're not reliable, I guess airports could handle it, well see

M.2 NVMe is crazy fast.

What about the iPhone and iPad?

Also, if Apple is asking this now, that means the new MacBook Pros are quite a ways off. They wouldn't be asking this if they're going into production right now with release coming in a month or two. You're talking 6 months away minimum.

Or they're pretending to care what we think and never had the intention of removing the jack in the first place.

what the heck. If they remove the headphone jack, I am DONE with Apple completely.
I use HDMI AND the SD card slot too (for external monitor and photography, respectively)

I HATE dongles! What's with their obsession with dongles... so un-Steve Jobs like....

They must be confusing innovation with irrelevancy. Cannot believe they need to survey this question to know the answer. Seems so lost in their own sphere...

they need to survey something such as audio port usage since i doubt it shows up in diagnostics.. for most usage scenarios, i'm pretty sure apple knows a helluvalotta more info than any other person/entity on the planet wrt how people use their computers.

Can't wait until Schiller said that Apple removed the headphone jack from the Mac because of "courage"! /s

This is what happens when people are so full of themselves that they don't care about what others want.

Yeah, Apple don't care about others so much, that they poll them about what they want.

The reason they're asking this "survey" is to give the perception they listen to the public, listen to their opinion.

Apple will ignore the results, and remove the headphone jack.
Saying majority of the survey said they don't mind the removal.
Do you have access to the results? Prove them wrong.

Getting rid of it in the iPhone is definitely one thing. However, on a laptop? I dunno about that. Apple does have this strange obsession of thinness where it oversteps practicality. Prosumers use it for all their editing, music writing, and filming needs where being connected via wire is essential. Also along with practicality, Thunderbolt, USB, and SD cards are extremely important to prosumers. Nobody wants to be carrying around dongles and USB-C hubs to be able to transfer their media data. But then again, now that I think about it. I have an iMac and I never use the headphone port....because I have an audio interface where I plug in my headphones. And I never use the SD card slot in the back because....I have a 3-USB 3.0 hub with SD, Micro SD and CF card slots.... But that's on an iMac where I don't want to be constantly hooking up in the back whereas a laptop is right there in front of you for easy access. So I'm gonna go with,"Apple, please don't... Stop this obsession you have...it's not worth it."
