Really? I thought changes are made to a stage site and tested before pushing to production. At least that's how it's done where I work.
I'm glad this was a fluke. I don't know why, but if he was resigning I would be seriously concerned about future products. But probably they have other talented product designers, but something makes me feel Ive is one of the main dudes behind apples quality in products. It would worry me as much or more than when jobs went away.
And those of you not liking Ives iOS shut up, it's 10x better than it was IMO. And a look that doesn't get you bored. The old iOS looks dirty in comparison.

Very pathetic isnt it? The Apple news is so slow someone is actually monitoring this. Next rumor will be that the iWatch can tell me if Im about to cough or sneeze and that it will come out in the fall. And 24 hours later there will be a correction that it will only detect sneezing and wont be released until early 2015. Pretty much sums up the bulk of the news on this site.

probably the change was made in error. It's unlikely that they would make this sort of announcement today, since the stock market is closed today. They probably made it by accident, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is announced officially sometime this week.

They just change everything in order to patent every single design and to wait until Samsung copy them again in order to sue again. That is not how you make a great design.

I agree, there should be a greyscale variant for those who don't like colors. Anything else is quite impossible and still get everyone to like it.

iOs 7 seems to be the Lion release before we get Mountain Lion.
The flat design is personal taste, but taking away features is a no no.
To not have a SELECT ALL and DELETE ALL option in mail is a joke. One has to search for the work around and then it's totally convoluted.

Sure, but that was a side project (while he was still at Apple, probably with Apple's blessings) for charitable purposes.
iOS 7 was change for the sake of change without actually improving anything. In fact, it made everything worse. Why can't I shrink a video and overlay it on top of a web page or email so I can do both? Simple. But no. They give us minimalist white design, no buttons, and a violation of almost every tenet of good UI design.
Stop ****ing with the design and start giving us more powerful features.
They were using the new iWorks version of iSite where the ability to update and then replace a web page, instead of just screwing up the online version was not deemed necessary.
If apples stock falls tomorrow because of this mistake they should absolutely buy back some of their stock. If this truly was a mistake, the stock value will absolutely rebound faster than it fell.
Given how utterly dreadful iOS7 is both in appearance and footprint (just 1 generation previous iPod Touch can't "upgrade" to it), I was thinking the exact opposite. It appears Johnny is good at hardware (all the things listed were hardware devices). I'm not sure when someone thought he'd be the best guy to handle the GUI icons and be put in charge of the OS, but clearly he should go back to designing iMacs and Macbooks and stay the hell away from iOS and its god-AWFUL GUI.
Clearly, his bio has been restored, though. Too bad it didn't say back in hardware division. On the other hand, your past doesn't mean squat to Mr. Useless Tim Cook. Scott Forestall is the real genius at Apple and ONE lousy app problem (that some team of underlings who inputs data for the maps probably is responsible for) and they pulled him right out of his job. Ridiculous. Scott is the one that know iOS. Put him back where he belongs and put Johnny back into designing hardware (god knows they need help there based on that atrocious Mac Pro trash can design).

Yep but I bet you don't know that everytime you sell your primary residence in the US you pay 25 percent capital gains tax against zero in the UK. Also how would you like to pay $25,000 per year in the equivalent of Council tax.

Jony is a Knight on the Island State. Perhaps some internal stress over "What is Wearable Tech Anyway?" No question IMO, iWatch is creating internal issues not easily solved by the Laws of Physics.
Maybe still upset over the winning bid on the "Red" MP being not "up" to his level? Maybe he is becoming more interested in the Hardware aspect of design, and some do not like it?

Was it a message? An internal Warning Shot fired across the bow? One never really knows.

One person should be in charge of hardware design. Someone else with different tastes but compatible with the hardware person should be in charge of software design.
In other words, bring in someone who knows something about typography and pixels and screens and how grey/light type is really hard to read against a white background. (One of the first rules you learn in graphic design; and you don't break the rules unless you first understand them.... which is the reason why iOS7 is a Basic Design Failure.)

But it's an "error" that could send AAPL stocks crashing severely on Monday morning.
Many Apple followers and analysts, rightly or wrongly, consider Jony to be the the spiritual "Padawan" to Steve Jobs.
