Given how utterly dreadful iOS7 is both in appearance and footprint (just 1 generation previous iPod Touch can't "upgrade" to it), I was thinking the exact opposite. It appears Johnny is good at hardware (all the things listed were hardware devices). I'm not sure when someone thought he'd be the best guy to handle the GUI icons and be put in charge of the OS, but clearly he should go back to designing iMacs and Macbooks and stay the hell away from iOS and its god-AWFUL GUI.

Clearly, his bio has been restored, though. Too bad it didn't say back in hardware division. On the other hand, your past doesn't mean squat to Mr. Useless Tim Cook. Scott Forestall is the real genius at Apple and ONE lousy app problem (that some team of underlings who inputs data for the maps probably is responsible for) and they pulled him right out of his job. Ridiculous. Scott is the one that know iOS. Put him back where he belongs and put Johnny back into designing hardware (god knows they need help there based on that atrocious Mac Pro trash can design).

I'm thinking you haven't seen iOS7 yet....

Bring back Forestall. They can toss Johnny for all I care. I don't want OS X 10.10 to look like iOS7. Mavericks is looking too much that way already.... Kick him to the curb! :D

Yeah iOS7's colors are bright and the design is minimalist, but hating on it for those reasons alone is purely subjective. I think you're forgetting the fact that Johnny and his team had basically no time to "re-invent" iOS in time for it's delivery. IMO, iOS8 will include vast improvements over the current build that simply couldn't be worked into 7 in time for launch. If this Fall's iOS 8 launch doesn't bring new funtionality or refinements, then your overall cristicism of Apple and Johnny is just.

No disrespect to our glorious (ex) leader, but I always felt Apple could survive without Steve, but Jony-not so sure.

It is not easy to be the iOS head!

People like Ivy news to be protected by limiting his exposure to his area of expertise and take his advise only as an outside expert opinion! When such people gets involved without protection (like, Steve around, who provided perfect motivation factor for Ivy) and with lots of attention from outside, the pressure mounts and they probably would not be able to handle such situations.

One Man

If one man can make or break your company, then you don't have much of a company.

Um, the head of iOS is Craig Federighi.

So why is this story here?

If a web designer was simply editing the site, and Ive is back as he was, why the title?

Or at least change the title so you don't have to read the "nothing happened here story"?

It's just interesting that JUST HIS profile would leave the page. I don't know how a mistake like that would be made if no other pages in the profile section were down. It was isolated to his profile. They are likely using a custom content management system for their site so it is hard to say with 100% certainty what their process is, but normally someone would have had to have made his page inactive or had deleted it all together. The question is why. To delete or make a page inactive on accident seems like a rookie move. Even if it was a mistake their devs are sharp enough to catch the mistake and fix it right away. Out of all the years I have been developing I have never made a mistake like this I didn't know about and try and fix right away. It would basically take a few seconds to fix. In this case the mistake sat long enough for people to notice. I call BS on it being a mistake.

Don't worry everyone, I see what happened...

The pic has now been updated to show Jony's brand new, slightly greyer shirt

The taxes in England are not NEARLY as bad...

If you think your taxes in California are bad, you should check out the taxes in Ive's home country, the UK.

as getting sick in California. Nobody goes bankrupt from paying their taxes.

the old adage cut off the head and you kill the serpent holds true even today though.

without russell wilson, the seahawks will still be a good team, however less formidable. without brady the patriots is just a decent team. without steve jobs, apple is arguably less of a force. without steve jobs and ive, that's like taking wilson and lynch away from the seahawks.

Is this because ios 7 is rubbish?

Don't fire the guy but make changes. Hope this isn't he reality.
It's only rubbish if you have absolutely TERRIBKE taste. Trust me look at these people's jail breaking themes and you will immediately know that. :)

He probably got fired for ruining iOS but then he promised he wouldn't screw up iOS 8! ;)
You have terrible taste sir, I feel for you!

I think they need some new faces in the design team, so that the success of the company isn't just tied to a few key people.

I don't think Apple management believes their success is tied to just a few people. With all due deference to design teams (and btw how do we have a clue who's up and coming in their design groups?), I'm sure the company realizes there's many a slip twixt cup and lip. Tim Cook having run the supply chain before landing where he is now certainly knows that!

Wow; talk about clueless. You should go back to your PC with Windoze ME. Or Windoze 8...HA HA HA HA!!! Now THAT'S brilliant design...

iOS 7 is brilliant; the people with early onset Alzheimers don't seem to like it, however - they don't like change of any kind. Or PC users who still like drop-shadows and fake 3D.

Hahahah the simple fact is that anyone who doesn't like it has absolutely terrible taste, and you can immediately see this when you look at their jailbreak themes. Honestly I've never seen worse design in my life, go look at some of those. I also believe it's a direct link to one's IQ. Anyone who dislikes it has an incredibly low to average IQ. Moreover, the comments people make on these forums solidifies that assertion.

Oh dear god. You have NO IDEA how many people they actually have working on design. I'll give you a clue: it's a lot.
