IPS screen? :(

IPS rocks. I long for my old Thinkpad A31p with the beautiful 1600x1200 IPS screen. (One of these days I'm going to renew the dried-up heatsink compound and get it working reliably again.)

Biggest disappointment with my 13" MacBook is the crappy screen with the narrow view angle. Colors shift as you tilt the screen, and there's a very narrow "sweet spot" for viewing.

Not so with IPS. Wide view angles, both horizontal and vertical, with no color shift. This thing is made for sharing.

If it doesn't have Flash,

then it cannot possibly be "the best browsing experience (I) have ever had."

Anyone else not impressed so far? Its literally just a 9.7" iPod Touch. Running iPhone apps in full-screen is not going to be a good experience. Plus no mention of multitasking yet!

Why doesn't it run the full version facebook website? Even the N900 can do that.

It can. They were showing the Facebook app. You can just go to the website if you prefer, and there are advantages and disadvantages to both.

I would expect an iPad-aimed Facebook app soon, though, to take better advantage of the larger display.

Great, now I just need to wait a year for them to fix all the stupid mistakes and release the iPad 2nd gen.

Can someone please tell me why in some of the pictures, the device is a perfect square, and in others, it's a rectangular device like the iPhone? Am I the only one seeing this? It's driving me CRAZY.

10:35AM "So all of the iPhone apps will run on this. In fact when you buy it, download all the apps you have right onto the iPad. Now if the developer spends some time modifying their app, they can take full advantage of this display."

Looks like apps can be updated to support both screens.

FRAGMENTATION BE DAMNED!

Pixel Doubling? So all the interface elements like buttons and dropdown boxes, which are the perfect size for a finger are now twice as big as they need to be, wasting valuable screen space.

And don't say developers will start releasing apps just for the iPad. Why would they want to develop separate iPhone and iPad apps when they can save time and money to just produce one?

I'm sorry but that just looks stupid! They didn't make any effort to distinguish it from the iPhone/Touch!

I know every person who is complaining right now will own one of these in a year or two.

Yep.
And to the bezel complainers, its a touch screen for crying out loud. If it had little to no bezel it would be hard as heck to hold with one hand without your holding hand's fingers touching the screen. And that would block input from your free hand trying to use the screen. If you have an iphone you'll know this to be true.

Please Apple, demo some artistic creation applications and not just content consumption stuff...

Am i the only who thinks its a glorified iPhone?

Actually most of the comments on the blogs/forums are saying this very thing. You're not alone in thinking this at all.

Maybe the surprise is that it runs WebOS for truly running multiple apps at once. And then I woke up... :(
