I wonder if I can attach my 24-inch display to this if I were to use it at home.

Any ideas?

I’m sure all those apps won’t adapt to use different screen resolutions. And their UI depends on seeing where your fingers touch.

However, you can get component-out (decent quality analog) for showing videos/movies, photos, presentations and YouTube (iPhone/iPod do that already). So if your 24” screen can be adapted to accept component input (the 3 little round video plugs like a modern TV) then you could at least use it for viewing/presenting media.

And I suspect you can do it even without component: he talked about connecting Keynote to a projector—and that probably means a VGA or DVI cable, which we haven’t yet seen for iPhone/iPod. I’d actually love a VGA cable for my iPhone to connect to projector, so I hope this comes to pass!

But I doubt it will be for apps. I’d like the option, myself, but it wouldn’t make sense most of the time.

If only this had iLife, sd slot, and I could organize photos and music with it and not need another pc to do those things...so close to being perfect.

That keyboard dock sitting so low on that vertical device looks a bit scary. I'm just waiting for someone to post a pic where they sneezed, headbutted their iPad, and cracked it over the dock. lol

Ha ha...yeah, it's "just an iPod."

Just keep telling yourself that!

It is though. It has the same locked OS, no USB ports so can't be used like a computer, same capacity and apps as an iPod touch, no mic or camera like an iPod touch. It has a keyboard stand. That's what you're basing your argument on?
This is a big iPod Touch. Sans iPod portability.

No voting?! What happened? Macrumors already running from iPad?!

I voted negative, yet it didn't registered.

This device makes me hate iTunes even more.

God, I have to stop using my iPhone as a music player now.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

But suddenly, the small iPod Touch just got even better priced!

Except not...

Mac mini has flash. Mac mini has simultaneous multiple apps. Mac mini has an optical drive (and usb, and firewire, and ethernet, so on and so on...)

What did I say? The only thing missing would be the optical drive, and you could use an external one.

I like it. but a few things I'm waiting to hear about.

1) Can you use a standard Apple Bluetooth keyboard (and/or mouse) ?
2) Are there any USB/expansion Ports of any kind ? (for isight/camera/wired keyboards/mice/storage/etc.)
3) Anyway to download/store/transfer files ?
4) Any multiTasking ?
5) I'm Sure I'll think of something else.

This looks like ergonomics from hell. Carpel Tunnel definitely won't get better after this. :(

Maybe in the future it'll be able to run MultiFinder.

+1. Jobs has been leading the company towards unexpandable, closed-box, single-app systems for the past 12 years. Remind anyone of something else?

Mac 128k.

Hey, Apple has a sub-$500 computer on the market again :) And this time the price includes the screen.

This device could nicely replace 99% of what people I know do with a computer.

Yeah except sync your iPhone, attach an external hard drive, connect a camera or video camera, download a file off the net, multitask, etc.

What Apple has achieved:

Completely new computing paradigm. Right under our noses. It all started with the App Store.

Not Interested...

No thank you Apple...disappointed by this announcement! I wanted to see an actual Tablet device, not an iPod Touch on steroids!
