Perfect description of Apple:

iCal'd.

Next time, remove your brain from the MR bubble. MR is in no way a reflection of reality.

Netbook makers just got their cheap a$$es handed to them.

When in the keynote did that happen? I'm pretty sure I just watched a rerun of the iPhone keynote with the app store. I doubt anyone feels threatened by this yet. Especially netbook makers, who still make roughly the same thing at hundreds less.

This is the most important slide in the presentation:

It is a device to drive content and make Apple some more money. There is nothing new here bar the touch based iWork and a keyboard dock. Its a big iPod Touch with a lot missing. Nothing exciting or revolutionary. All a bit dull really.

I fear I don't get all the hoopla -- it's just a fancied-up tablet computer. I don't even know anybody that does tablet computing; a few don't even know what it is. Maybe it's meant to be a giant iPhone, which would make more sense (except for the 'giant' part), as I was told that tablet computing kind of came and went years ago.

I sure hope there's some more relevant product updates today, like faster processors or, like we've been led to hope for, a Mac Mini with a separate graphics card... That would be most cool.

A.

Any reason why the dock has to keep with the 4 apps per row format? It's just weird with the big screen with so many gaps between buttons now.

Why does Jobs keep calling this device "magical"? It's nice, but it does nothing that their existing product line doesn't already do quite well. He's usually not much for repeated hyperbole.

So where the heck are iWork and iLife '10 for the Mac? I wonder when those will be announced..

I, for one, will wait until they add the camera for video conferencing. Disappointed they didn't put it in this first version.

Only available with AT&T? No thanks...I got rid of my iPhone for that reason. AT&T SUCKS!

Technically, it is unlocked.

Non standard deployed (yet) SIM card and in the US perhaps only one provider with that specific 3G network ( if not multi 3G friendly implementation) then yeah ... this looks alot like a very cheesey "unlocked" spin, but pragmatically is really locked.

When tech specs show up will see. But looking like a defacto locked at this point. [ I suppose in the US could get on Tmobile's EDGE network. but that isn't really "3G" more like 2.5G. Still need micro-SIM card from them though. ]

For the people posting nothing but "fail this" and "fail that"... grow up. If you don't like what you see, don't buy it. Simple.

I like this device and will have one. If your expectations weren't met, then design something that does. Otherwise shut up about it.

FFS, people bitch for the sake of bitching. Get over yourselves and move on.

Not gonna buy one. No camera, no stylus to take notes on the iPad. Top 2 things I was looking for : iChat and takings notes in class (like drawing pictures in class)
