Why the sudden flood of PC fanboys on an apple forum?

I dont remember this kind of influx for quite some time!

Because those PC fanboys can't stand accepting the truth about Windows and that would be the fact that not much has changed. So what Windows 7 is better than Vista, the Registry which is nothing short of a killjoy to the end user still rears it's ugly head. Slows down the system after just a few weeks of ownership. Anti-virus which slows down the system is still needed. Bloated crapware will still ship on all retail PC's unless the manufacturer offers you to pay extra to have it removed before shipping.
PC fanboys want the Mac community to keep quiet so Windows 7 will look much better than it really is.
Apple's ads, especially the "Trust Me" ad tell the truth, as you can see from my signature, I've been through MS's promises and each one of them have failed of course.

Now that the gaps in software have become extremely narrow as we hardly NEED Windows anymore this is a very good time for XP users to try a Mac since they have to start over from scratch anyway and many pieces of XP software don't run on W7. I beg to differ that the average user (which represents more than 90% of the Windows install base) will want to install Windows XP as a VM just to use their old apps. Except for 64 bit, there's nothing else about W7 that represents next gen technologies like Mac OS X.

And this is exactly why virtually every cost comparison I've ever read fails. Hard. These convenient assumptions that have no basis is reality.

i7 920 2.66 GHz: $288.99

Xeon X5550 2.66 GHz: $999.99

Clearly comparable...

Also what case did you use building your PC? You can spend $60 on a case or $300, but the features are not the same. Once you actually price out a PC with the parts a Mac has (or as close as you can get), the price difference shrinks dramatically. Yes, there may be better, cheaper options out there for you, but if you want to do a cost comparison, you'd better be pricing out the components actually used in the mac.

so you're saying that apple's 4 gig ram upgrade that they sell on their website is actually worth $1000? LOL get real.

Panther:
Snow Leopard:

Is it just me or do they look almost identical? Something that Apple always criticise Microsoft for?

I don't *want* my operating system user interface to change dramatically with every release. Incremental improvement is fine. "LOOK! We changed it! It's square now instead of round! Isn't that COOL!?! Whee!!!" is not productive.

At my workplace I was happily using Office 2003 until the IT department forced an update to Office 2007. I am in the process of re-learning how to use all my Office apps now that they've got this stupid ribbon interface. I knew by heart where every menu setting was (from way back to Office 95), and now they've changed it so radically that I feel like a n00b. It's jarring, and unproductive.

Tell that to application and web developers. Microsoft, along with IBM, are the biggest contributors to the development of web services. Microsoft created the SOAP-based .NET runtime environment that hosts these services. It blows away the Java runtime in performance. Sun themselves even joined the two in help further development. Java is a great idea, but fails in performance. Web services is the future of delivering applications.

I know this means nothing to the average home user, but from a corporate and Microsoft's perspective, this is something to get excited over.

"MS aren't doing anything particularly exciting in the Enterprise either" is simply your opinion that which many would disagree on.

As for the developers "excitement", I know this first-hand. The company where I work has used Java development for many years and are now converting over to .NET.

That's a fair point, I'm a systems administrator not a programmer I was speaking from my point of view as a systems administrator.

My main point was that MS aren't doing anything particularly exciting in the Enterprise either.

umm..and what exactly are apple doing? their new line of macs are basically more slight speed bumps. still with no blu-ray. and they took firewire off again? lollolol.

Microsoft needs to take off the kid gloves and punch back at what you REALLY pay for when you buy a Mac:

It's all about elitism. You PAY for the Apple brand name, like you do for a Sony product like a TV. Call it what it is-- the Apple Tax.

Too cheap to buy one? Just say so.

Presumably you're on all the car forums complaining about the "Audi tax," or on audio forums complaining about the "Bang & Olufsen tax," or on clothing forums complaining about the "Armani tax," etc. etc.

:apple:

Yeah and what has Microsoft been doing lately that's so exciting, I guess their latest moves into stores is such an exiciting endeavour.

Windows 7
Zune HD
Visual Studio 2010

But don't let me stand in the way of your us versus them brain washed mentality.

That's one way of viewing it. The other is that Apple's increase in sales has attracted customers who aren't quite as loyal and forgiving as its existing base.

I think the latter is more likely.
The latter is more likely but people aren't willing to accept it.

How do I get to thinking like this? I'd really like to know.

The ad is actually quite funny.
Though, a lot of people take this seriously (the message) and apply it to real life. Obviously, that's what Apple is going for and it's working like a charm so far.
As a business economist I cry tears of joy. :)

I don't need to "explain" anything. Reading a book about Operating Systems would be a good start.

The difference in sheer amount of innovation, work, and core technologies that went under the hood in every single iteration of OS X compared to Windows is ridiculous. Not only being under the hood, but also how it was able to affect and improve the end user's usability/workflow (Quicklook? Spotlight? Faster file operations? The subtle animations here and there? etc etc).

Like I said, enjoy whatever works for you. But next time you want to tell others that MS Windows is actually a better OS, I would suggest you do that in the computer engineering department of any university. Should be fun!

How about some SOLID evidence. Apple fanboys throw the word INNOVATION around way too much. I am still primarily an Apple user at home and at work however I still am responsible for over 10,000 PC's. Windows XP has been solid and Windows 7 has been great thus far. OSX 10.6 on the other hand has been a nightmare.

Get back to me when a Mac can properly communicate with Exchange servers on a corp. network without the aid of such programs as ExtremeZIP or AdmitMac (the worse program ever!) You Apple fanboys need to realize that the business world (where the money is) will always be dominated by Windows because "Apples" innovation does absolutely nothing in the business world.

Uh, try he's probably too smart not cheap.

I got sucked down the Mac trend last year, and turned my nose at MS. I bought an iMac, and a Macbook pro. I have since sold both as their included software crashed FAR more often then anything on Vista SP2. Plus I felt OSX is to operating systems as AOL was to the internet (you know....internet for dummies). I have been using W7 RC and beta for the 6 months, and it has been bullet proof. I built an i7 system FAR more powerful than any iMac for about 30% less. Far more stable, too....now that's NOT subjective, that's fact.

So, it's clear the new Mac commercials are full of crap. After 6 months of OSX and then 6 months of W7 (in beta, then RC). W7 is more stable (FACT), and a much nicer OS to use (Opinion).

Now, can someone please help me get my iphone to stop crashing 5 times a day!!!! (I'm a very heavy iphone user)

Oh, here is another thought. I love these side by side comparisons between WIN 7 and SN for performance, etc. that various people do (cnet, pcmag, etc). One thing I would like to see is a side by side comparison when the WIN 7 PC has Norton 360 installed or multiple packages like Norton, StopZilla and Uniblue Power suite. My older Dell (2.4 Ghz single processor) takes up to 35 - 40 minutes to boot up to where I can do anything. When it was new and without the anti-everything software it took maybe 30 seconds. We don't even want to talk about the registry issues and how it becomes corrupt so quickly. I'm constantly running a registry cleaner on my XP machine. I can't wait for the new iMac i7 to be delivered.

LOL not exactly, i would rather have my computer perform decently rather than have a shiny slow piece of garbage.

the imac still uses notebook class core2duos, do you have any idea of how slow that is compared to a desktop Core i7 for CHEAPER? now matter how shiny it looks i cant play Call of duty 4 worth a damn on a 9400. that and i cant trans code any videos in a respectable amount of time.

BTW my gaming rig now cost over $2700 since i added a 47" 1080p 120hz display and 7.2 surround with polk audio speakers/velodyne subs

im no stranger to spending a huge amount of cash, but the difference between me and you is i actually have something to show for the money i spend with equivalent performance

dont believe me?

partial unboxing of the speakers for testing (this pic is kinda old and dont show the subs or the TV mounted to the wall) gaming rig is the Antec 900 case which is now in its own office in my new basement that i built specifically for gaming

The new iMacs do have the new intel i7...please do your research

Looking at the number of PC posters here, I never knew astroturfing paid so well.

MS pays you to use their search engine, why wouldn't they pay you to troll their competitors' forums?

Fortunately the threads that bring the Winbots crawling out of their dank little holes provide an excellent opportunity to update the Ignore list.

Sure... buy a windoze mobile phone. then a zune (with all the apps available for it) and last but not least... a worthless net book.

By the way... What sucked you down the mac trend? You have to admit, they are great commercials...

Both OS's are good now that 7 is out (finally)... Do you still hit start to stop?

Hmm, sounds like someone hasn't heard of the new iMac with i7.

which is now in its own office in my new basement that i built specifically for gaming

LOL!

Yet these are the people who rage against Apple customers for wasteful spending.

I'd personally prefer a nice iMac on a nice uncluttered desk than a table piled high with ghetto hardware and cables. You may prefer something else - and there's nothing wrong with that. Different strokes for different folks, savvy?

Yet here you are, fuming about the preferences of others. Odd.

Why are you even here? I've looked at your posts and you hate Macs and everything about Apple. Don't you have something better to do with your time? Or do you get paid for posting here? (I hope its a good amount because it still seems like a waste of time).

I can't believe how many people here care less about learning about the latest news, or discussing issues, and simply want to b*tch and moan about Apple.
