They can do both! The bug only effect those who use guest account till then don't use it, simple as that :)

Doesn't even affect them under that scenario all the time, either. This "bug" isn't easy to reproduce.

Talking about it like it defines Snow Leopard is ike junking your Mercedes because it has a bad spring.

Besides, it seems Apple's market has all but forgotten about it.

I don't think anyone needs to worry about Win7 reviews because a lot of us have been running it (via Bootcamp) for months in beta and realized it's quite competent and much more streamlined.

Plus the commercial is so misleading in painting every Windows release as a 'flop' they forget that only Windows ME (shudders) was a total disaster while Vista merely limped out of the starting gate. (Only get to make a first impression once sadly for them)

I guess MS should make an ad highlighting Apples gems like the Newton, OSX pre 10.3, The great firewire HD killer, 20th Anniversary Mac, Apple TV, Pippin, iPod HiFi, G4 Cube, Dropping support for 3yr old PPC systems, Mac Mini (I'm dead for that one!)
Yeah and Apple will counter with all the Microsoft failures, there are so many I can't even list them all.

Apple's commercial strategy is simply to get a potential customer to enter an Apple store. After a customer enters a store, Apple will actually convince the customer of the benefits of a Mac.

From my experience, a lot of Windows users do enter Apple stores purely because of seeing the ads. So the model does seem to be working.

Agreed. I hope they continue the ads. I would like to see at least a few ads talking about positive reasons why Macs and OSX are so good and not just because PCs and Windows suck.

Now if I were in charge of Apple marketing, this would be my ad campaign.

Drum roll please.......

Two guys named Bob. Coincidence ? We think not.
Stay away from Bob and his computer. Get a Mac.

Shouldn't Apple spend money trying to fix the GIANT BUG THAT DELETES ALL OF A USER'S DATA instead of making commercials?

um they are in the next update if you had read the past news upadtes

Great comparison. People need to start looking at the bigger picture.

Judging by Apple's latest financials, they should keep airing what is working for them.

When was the last Apple television commercial that actually advertised the models and features of their computers rather than simply comparing Mac to PC? Maybe it is just my memory, but the only thing I recall for years now are these Mac vs PC ads. They show plenty of features in commercials for the iPhone and iPod touch. I don't recall any iPhone vs Blackberry or iPod vs Zune commercials. Is it just because they don't dominate the computer market? Except for fast food and cell providers, I don't recall such an extended use of this type of marketing angle by other companies. Heck, even the Coke vs Pepsi campaign ended.

Yeah I mean its getting old. Sure they are sending the message to buy a Mac, but why don't you try to sell me on the qualities of your product instead of the faults of the competitions.

Why change the ads when they work so well as is?

The faults of the competition (and there are a lot) sell Macs very well, apparently. And Apple *is* making a statement about its own prodcuts at the same time: Macs are everything Windows PCs aren't. What you get with Windows, you won't get with OS X, etc. Making a statement about the competiton will, as a matter of course, imply that your position is the opposite. Apple talks about the qualities of Macs all the time. It's part of the reason the ads work so well. Why say any more?

I have to admit, the previous batch of "I'm a mac" ads where they again were talking about viruses felt very stale and played out. These new ones however feel very "now it's funny again".

You want to see Apple change their ads, stop buying their products and giving them their highest quarterly profits ever.

Let's be realistic. The iPod, iTunes store and iPhone are the main contributors for Apple's success over the recent years.

Except for Macs being their biggest money-maker. No doubt the iPod and iPhone function very well as gateway products.

Really? This argument again?

I built an i7-based system for my gaming need, and here were the parts:

And that's all you need to say to prove your "comparison" to be pointless, idiotic, and irrelevant.

YOU *BUILT* IT. OF COURSE IT'S CHEAPER!!!

Try spec-ing out a MacPro-equivalent from Dell or HP, for a more valid comparison.

It's like saying "Hey, dude, I built a twin-turbo V8 car that's as fast as a Ferrari, and it only cost me $50K vs. the Ferrari's $200K!!" Yeah, but you've got a home-built P.O.S. vs. a sleek, well-designed PROFESSIONALLY-BUILT machine.

Never mind the TIME you spent building your own machine (there's a COST there), and never mind the fact that the average use neither has the time, inclination, nor ability to build their own machine.

You're on the fringe. That's fine. Stay there. Be happy there.

But stop trying to proclaim that something professionally-designed and built is overpriced just because you can cobble something together yourself for less from parts. It's a useless comparison.

Yeah and I guess the 3 million Macs Apple sold last quarter didn't contribute anything!
