From someone who actually does marketing its actually quite genius. Its a funny, purposely cheesy short film to grow Siri's user base. Trust me thousands of people who never used siri probably will give it a try after seeing this and if it works for them they may continue using. You guys might say Steve jobs would never do this but look back at the Mac vs PC Justin Long commercials. Its the same funny/lame formula they have been using for years and more recently these days with all there big actor 30sec commercials, only thing different is they promoted it like a full movie with what 3hrs notice on a Sunday then dropped it on Youtube so it could be easily accessible and easily sharable on social media. Anyone thats saying why it didn't drop on Apple Music doesn't understand the point of this video.

It-is-not-funny. Why not telling the story without showing "the siri thing" – just talking and it works. and at the end: tatataaa: Thanks SIRI …

anyhow

apple should just buy netflix to avoid even further embarrassment.

This is embarrassing, jesus christ embarrassing.. just STOP, holy ****.

This is bad and Apple should feel bad.

What the ****?

What.....

where is Jesus when you need him?

Is this a late April Fools prank? WTF?

This is just strange. Like really strange. It feels like watching a comedy of a company going downhill and making ridiculous moves to stay relevant. Is this reality? What universe am I in?

And yet none of you or the people who liked your comments have seen it. Sigh.

That article doesn't even talk about what Apple really wants. I have TONS to say about this topic but I'm not going to type up a full article here. To keep it short:

- Apple wants a full all-in-one Apple-branded TV in every living room (not a set top box). This will solve many UX problems

It would solve UX problems, but it doesn't follow that that's what they "want". Apple making its own lightswitches and cars would also solve UX problems (it would make HomeKit and CarPlay better), but that doesn't mean Apple is about to head into those markets. Apple can't and shouldn't be the one to make every single piece of hardware on the planet.

- In order to sell these TVs, Apple wants to sell a service that everyone is willing to buy into

Operating under the assumption that Netflix will never license their original content to Apple's new (competing) service, Apple can either:
- Try to fight Netflix by building a better Netflix service with better original content and licensed content
- Buy Netflix, acquire the original content, and acquire the talent to support the new service

Or, C), do what they're already doing and simply reduce Netflix to being a mere app on Apple's platform.

Personally I used to find the 'I'm a Mac' ads cringe inducing, especially as their main focus was usually more negative than positively promoting their own features. This seems fine, but even if you dislike the ad it doesn't indicate the company is burning to the ground, Taylor swift was cool? I mean it all appeals to different markets.

I think a lot of people on here need to lighten up!

Apple's use of these adverts are obviously just to show off their ability to produce (in preparation for original content), whilst also advertising iPhone features - clever move.

Apple is already in the TV space. Apple has the iTunes Movie/TV store with rentals. Apple gave us four generations of Apple TV hardware. And Apple now has original shows.

Wow...this reaches new heights of trash

Whats this have to do with Netflix?, its an "AD" purposely funny/corny just like there keynote intro videos. It wasn't intended to be a serious movie or short film.

i never said it was supposed to be a serious movie or short film.
