iPod Button at Bottom Different

If you notice, the buttons on the bottom of the iPod feature have changed. They are now Podcasts, Albums, Playlists, Videos, and More. It used to be something like, Playlist, Artist, Song, Video, and More.

 NOT TRUE!!! Most people know about it.

I knew someone would say that! :D

I always do some informal surveys to see how many people I come in contact with (waiters/cashiers/people at my work campus) know about apple's products, and unfortunately most don't have a clue. They know that apple has computers and ipods, but other than that they don't know much else.

I am VERY interested to see if that changes as the phone becomes more ubiquitous. My suspicion is it will, but the high price might subvert the viral spread.

No worries...

If anyone can help me clarify here, that'd be much appreciated. The ad states "with new 2 year activation". I am seriously hoping that doesnt mean customers who already have Cingular are being shut out of the initial launch.

I switched to Cingular about 3 months ago for a Palm Treo 750. I will be very angry if I am denied at the counter because I am a customer.

Steve

This just means you won't get that bonus $100 they give you at the end of your 2 year agreement. You'll just re-up your 2 year agreement and have to pay full price for it. So - you're good! (Me too, I've got over a year left on my 2 year). For those curious I already verified this info with Cingular/AT&T

Discrepancy

On the "How To" Ad, 2 seconds in, right before they hit the iPod button, there is an additional icon on the Home screen... you can't see what the icon is because of the shot... but there are 4 icons on the bottom instead of only 3 as in all of the other shots...

There isn't an icon showing that we havent seen--but it means that there is one extra app not showing

wow, that's a very good eye. now let's everyone guess what this missing icon could be.

Ohh my! You are good at spotting things like that! Well done! I wonder what the other app is.

Hmm... very interesting. It's likely one of the ones in the first 2 rows because the bottom row is everything shifted back one. Great catch though!

I love the commercials. The jingle, the voice, and just what they show it can do - it's awesome. This is the kind of thing that they've needed to do to show Mac OS X and its abilities.

That's exactly what I did when the advertisement came on during 60 minutes... But they said no. Can't leave Verizon. Alas, I will have to dream.

iPhone 2.0 for us locked in people. Well that and I am hoping that the next version will add a few more features like GPS or the higher high speed data network.

Have we heard any rumors about the phone having the ability for say SD cards? I'd be extremely angry if I wanted to load some 3rd part apps and I had to delete music just so I could have the apps on there....

Ah, hopefully there will be a setting that customizes those tabs. I almost always browse my music by artists

i find the wording on the att part of the add very interesting

"use requires MINIMUM new 2 year activation plan"

I assume they are alluding to a data plan....? being needed

Still wonder if Apple put in live video conferencing through iChat with the iPhone. That would be quite interesting (maybe one of Leopard's "Top Secret" feature).

how is that different than 3G video call then? and if the iphone isnt a 3G phone, that means there wont be enough bandwidth for it when using edge...

would be cool if u can use that function over wifi tho....:apple:

I still don't get how he just searched for seafood and no zip code etc to find the closest restaurant. How does it know where he is located?

If it was based on tower triangulation or agps chip it would never have been that fast.

...I mean, who watches 60 minutes? People who are old, nerdy, generally intelligent, or "plugged in". These people will respond well to that type of ad.

Do I fall into the nerdy catagory because I am a teenager that watches 60 minutes on my own accord? I guess the generally intelligent classification might work; I did turn to the Democratic debate after it was over. But, I am browsing a Mac forum...

It doesn't help that each of the four contracts ends at different times over the next two years. Hard to keep an older phone while waiting for the family's contract to end. I keep asking my parents to get me the iPhone if I score a 5 on the AP exam, but it's more of a joke. Oh well. iPhone 2.0 it is.

No one talk about the most important FACTS !

What is surprising me right now is that no one talk about the most important FACTS !

They reveal officially the launch date, there are rumors about MBP update in tow ays, etc...

So, what up with the WWDC ? Habitually, Steeve keep all his secret to the Keynote...It seem to converge to something very BIG that do not relate the known product on the 11th !...

My hypothesis : Leopart + new Imac Line or MacBook Thin !

maybe you can enter a zip code as default location, and it will go to around that location unless you enter a different one

I thought about this also. Triangulation based on position from cell phone towers is a possibility, as it's part of the requirements for 911 but I don't think that's it. We know Steve Jobs didn't show his full hand at Macworld and there's things on the phone that haven't been disclosed. With Google Maps playing such a prominent part in Apple's advertising, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the iPhone has GPS. Here's to hoping!

You won't need it. You won't be installing any 3rd-party apps because Apple won't allow 3rd-party app development, at least not for a while.
