Those would be scheduled production cuts. This is an extra 10% cut that wasn’t already expected by manufacturers.Isn’t production usually cut as the year goes on, especially after Christmas?

Excellent. Another... Please provide a source.
Honestly, This news doesn't really spell the doom gloom that I think people want to read into it. (and y'all know i'm typically critical).
10% drop of manufacturing of the Xr 2-3 months into the cycle doesn't seem abnormal. Sales are always much higher during the initial peak of launch and lowers afterwards. This is normal cyclical behaviour of all apple's device sales.
This news doesn't really paint much of a picture at this point as you'd likely see a decrease in manufacturing at this time regardless if they were selling or not.
Slip sliding away, great animation! It’s… lebanon bologna…
EDIT: Fine, I fixed it.
I’m sorry but no. I’m not even a big fan of the Touch Bar but I’m also not a fan of kick stands or the UI on windows 10 and not even the shape of the Surface device. People say they love it but then they try to use it to do productive stuff. It’s like a buggier iPad Pro that you cant really use as a tablet. I had a surface and was left with the impression that the display was too small to do productive stuff with it and that the device didn’t work as a tablet at all.I don’t think people are envious about the gimmicky touchbar designs on MacBooks. Microsoft is way ahead with its Surface designs because of their kickstands, fanless designs, and plenty of specs.
Yeah, but this is an additional 10% drop from what was already planned. That's the difference. I'm sure Apple totally takes into account Q1 dropoffs in production. This is an additional cut, it seems.
If you look back at Nikkei articles over the last few years, they have historically been proven wrong 99% of the time. This article is simply tacking onto what Apple has already said publicly with the “added source” of talking about Jan-March quarter. Pure crap that is fabricated. Nobody can pinpoint order quantities from Apple’s supply chain.Read the report. Original plans for this quarter obviously were mmuch lower than for the previous one (seasonality). Now these plans are cut by 10% (sales are lower than what Apple expected). But that's all goog. Apple is switching to services anyways. Apple is new IBM.

If all previous Nikkei articles were FUD why has AAPL tanked? I thought Apple just announced officially that sales are bad. Or did I read it in Nikkei?
I wonder.. did Tim say it was bologna or baloney?
Nikkei is about as unreliable as it gets, but it’s not like a production cut after Xmas wouldn’t make sense.
Seems the iPhone did well everywhere except China.
Apple needs an “emerging markets” phone.
These are the wrong cuts Tim.
Usually, but XR is earlier in its yearly cycle than the XS.
Thats salami. Come on guy!
It’s… lebanon bologna…
EDIT: Fine, I fixed it.
I don’t trust Tim or anything coming out of Apple anymore after them telling customers iPad bending is normal
Kinda hoping the iBubble breaks a little and forces Apple to pay more attention to you know...computers?
For a phone that is the top seller every day, I have yet come across a SINGLE person with an XR. Nobody at my office, friends, family, or even people on the street. it's actually kind of bizarre. . .
I read the ”report” or rumor. They are adjusting for seasonality no matter how much spin is put on it.

Your opinion. Others think differently. I’m going to say aapl stock will recover and long term the company will be just fine. You go Tim.
[doublepost=1547024016][/doublepost]
No, it’s not surprising or unexpected. It is what it is, given Apple only made $84b last quarter. $1b per day.
Pretty much. A few bent iPads don't make an international issue. We don't have evidence that more than a few are out of spec. Plus, Apple will replace them if they are.
You sir are totally 100% correctPoint is multiple adjustments on a quarter by quarter basis is not outside of the realm of possibility. I will bet apple has adjusted production multiple times in a quarter over the last 10 years.

You can’t blame them right? Running apple right into the ground.
Apple is still up today in the market despite this news. So it doesn’t seem like anybody is surprised by this announcement except for a few people here on MR.
No you’re are being critical (and somewhat hyperbolic) for reasons I don’t agree with.It is what it is?????
What a lame excuse!
Other companies are also selling billions. That does note means they are innovating.
You are one of the few trying to make poor excuses in Apple's behalf.
Did you even read the article, or did you only get through the headline before your Apple defense mode activated.
"A second source said that overall production volume of both new and old iPhones will be reduced by approximately 40 to 43 million units for the January-March quarter, down from an earlier projection of 47 to 48 million units."
Tim's strategy is to keep raising prices to offset losses. Brilliant idea.....

Simple:
iPhone SE 32/64/128GB
iPhone 7 32/64/128GB.
Both still have production.
