I do not believe in this TouchID-in-display stuff anymore. Every year Apple is said to test this. I‘s getting boring.
Well if they’re still testing it, that doesn’t bode well for it showing up in the 13’s. Still possible it gets implemented in the power button. Or side button. Whatever they’re calling it now.
It's not about REQUIRES, gloves are optional, yet there appears to be more than a handful wearing latex gloves, at least in my corner of the world. Persons of varied demographics.I don't know of any store that REQUIRES you to wear gloves. Do you?![]()
Wouldn't it be more reliable on the button?In-display Touch ID sounds like a dream come true but I won’t hold my breath for it. If anything, I think they’d put it on the power button seeing how they’ve already developed it for the iPad Air.
Further away might make it easier for someone other than you to pass security protocol.I like FaceID. Maybe make it able to “see you” just a little bit further away. 20 cm or so.
Only if your nose and mouth are on your hands they would.I don't know of any store that REQUIRES you to wear gloves. Do you?![]()
So you intrinsically thinks that OEM Android brands could do it better than Apple? Very interesting your way of thinking.... 🤣Hopefully the in display fingerprint fails testing.
I hear that scientists are getting closer to discovering the problem that a folding screen solves ...
There will never be a foldable iPhone. Ridiculous gimmicks
There is no misstep. I hate to burst your bubble, but Apple doesn't lead when it comes to mobile tech to move the industry forward. They're a parts collector that waits for the real leaders like Samsung to innovate breakthroughs in mobile tech. Samsung innovates like no other. They create the display technology, that will now allow Apple to have a foldable. The Fold 2 is an amazing device, and it's a device that is absolutely necessary for the industry move forward. Apple follows because they have no choice but to wait for Samsung to innovate and create these industry dominating displays. Don't get so bothered by the facts. Facts are facts.I disagree it’s not about being first it’s about being best. I’d much rather see Samsung the first and fail at something than see Apple be first and make a misstep.
You didn’t burst my bubble at all because your opinion would have to actually matter to me to do that kiddo. There is no misstep. Nope. That’s a step backwards.Trust me or not, we will see flip iPhones that when folded would perfectly fit in the palm of our hands while will sport big screens when unfolded, all this in the mid-term future (3-4 years), that will be the trend. Cycles tend to repeat, and when the current glass slate design is wear enough, we will see cell market full of flip and foldable phones, iPhone included. And I insist, no matter what MR readers think or opine, that’s the inevitable future.
You might want to save this comment to that future. 😉
Do you really think that the current smartphone design is the final and most refined design for this product? Do you really think that the market will afford 10 more years with a design so many years dated? The common people will need to perceive a design change, something fresh and even something innovative to justify keeping yearly phone updates (although a flip phone doesn’t seem so innovative to us). So to achieve this perception among the consumers, the manufacturers will have to launch new designs sooner or later, and if you consider that the people will be wanting bigger screens every year, the only way to keep having bigger screens will be by launching flip and foldable smartphones. That’s it!Nope. That’s a step backwards.
100% agree with you, and I can wait it to happen!Folding is the future of the smartphone. It needs to unfold to tablet size.
