I just wish Apple make some big Phaphlets to get it over with, so people stop posting, If Apple Doesn't Make Bigger Screens, am Leaving for Korea! over and over and over.

One thousand units should be enough. ;)

They need to do it. More options is good.

And get rid of those smug commercials that show a thumb going from top to bottom of the iphone and thats why the iphone is superior. Not everyone has the same size hand nor does everyone use their phone one handed like that. Let people have a choice.

But at 4.8 inches it's rather big. Android is too unefficient to build a small phone with high-end specs.

Whats the razr M, the new droid mini, and many other smaller phones then? The droid mini benchmarks higher than the iphone 5. The adreno 320 is much faster than the a6.

Now THIS I want.

...really? just get an iPad mini. I never want a phone over 4.5 inches (and even that would be pushing it)

Edit: reading these comments, WHY?! Why would you want a phone that can't even fit in your pocket!? Do you realize how big 6" is?

Dear small screen crowd in denial that Apple is making a bigger phone,

I'll give you a life altering tip that may relieve your frustration: Please stop buying your pants at Gymboree and Baby Gap and you'll be able to easily fit a bigger phone than your iPhone 4S/5 in your pockets!

Seriously, come on, just say you don't want one, but don't use lame excuses like it not fitting in pockets. Do yourself a favor and ask your friends to lend you their Galaxy S4 (5 inch) or the HTC One (4.7 inch) and try putting it in your pocket. When you do that you'll realize how stupid the pocket excuse is.

How is the lack of iPad update yet unApple like?

They released the last model last fall, and added 128GB option in the spring.

The 5S will have some extra features that the 5C will not have, will be thinner, and with the metal/glass body will signify it's the premium model.

1) Because iPad releases have always occurred in Spring. The 128GB "update" doesn't count as the new model was originally released in the Spring.

2) Yep. I'm just suggesting it though. The invite points towards the iPhone Color. We'll just have to see.

I hope they move past the testing phase with a bigger screen. I'm 6' 2" with larger than average hands so an iPhone's screen is small for me. My eyesight isn't that great either so a larger screen = all the better for me. A new larger iPhone will keep me from migrating over to Android.
If you get some time let me know and I'll teach you the 2 finger zoom. ;)

Mid-size, large and...small. How about a small phone for those who just want to use it as a phone, show some photos of the kids, take a photo, play iTunes, be able to look something up in an emergency but it wouldn't be ideal for internet use.

It would also be great as a car phone, an emergency phone for kids, a grandma phone and so on. Millions of people would like an Apple phone and all that, but have no interest in nerdy stuff at all.

Of course such a format might work well with the iWatch, rarely leaving a pocket or purse.

MILLIONS?? Really? Hmm... I'm shocked. Sounds absurd, but you're the nor that did the exhaustive study, not me. /s
A smart phone NOT ideal for internet? Not only do I not think Apple would make such a product... I don't think ANYBODY would make such a product. *shudders to think*

I feel like next year is way too late, considering this was an obvious choice from the 4s onwards, I'm almost dumbfounded it's not already here.

It's not about android or what else is going on with the mobile world but instead about fill the huge void between tablets. I would have thought it to be infinity easier to make a larger iphone that almost any other product as it's just a matter of choosing weight, res, battery life and screen size. The blueprint is already there with the 5!

Apple should have realised ages ago that there is room for a large and small iphone because they offer very different uses with the increased real estate.

It's not about money or following trends it's about making the best phone and for some that is not the iphone 5 and is only related to it's form factor.

Apple used to be ahead of the curve they seem so slow like microsoft slow at reacting to the tech advances in high res 5-6inch screens. It was a no brainer to make the ipod when everyone else was stumbling now apple is the one doing in the dark.

The day apple releases a 5+ inch screen phone is the day people will come on here and laugh in your faces. Youll sheepishly stare at your monitor with nothing to say.

Yep yep yep. Agree 100%

I like the 4 inch phone because I can type with ONE hand.
You have no idea how useful this is........

if they can find a way to increase the screen size, but doesn't compromise 1 hand typing, I'll definitely support it.

BTW
I have a galaxy s4, I love the screen size, it's amazing for movie viewing (I prefer this over iPhone 5), but not typing
It's hard to type on this.

In a way I think a 6 inch device is more reasonable than a 4.8. For one it would give a good definition of size devices - 4 / 6 / 8 / 10 inches. And Apple can propose it as a two handed device, rather than an oversized single handed device. Apple will try to market it as another product segment, rather than a premium iPhone replacement. Just my thoughts.

really.. now the arguments gonna be accessories? the galaxy line is doing just fine.

Really... now you're just going to ignore a valid point about the iPhone accessory market.

people want a bigger phone. simple as that.

Really... now you're just going to assume on behalf of everyone else that what you want is what the "people" want. I don't recall that unanimous vote.

There's a difference between being perfectly happy with a 4-inch screen and the merits and reasoning behind such (single-hand operation, preservation of Retina resolution), and insisting that a larger size will/must never happen. A difference you appear not to grasp.

No. No. No. No. NO!

Steve Jobs had it right the first day he introduced the iPhone: the killer app for the iPhone is MAKING PHONE CALLS! You don't need a huge screen to make phone calls, and Apple should NOT encourage the trend of every nitwit on the street walking around with a bulge the size of an Xbox in their hip pocket!

Must resist the urge to make jokes

No, no, no.

People have it all wrong. They're going to continue with the route they took with the iPhone 5. It will be a six-inch screen, alright, but it will be the same width.

(Sorry for the crappy quick-and-dirty Photoshopping.)

Perfect why would anyone want a wider phone (sarcasm), will also have a rotary dial and more NSA suggested features since the NSA finger print scanner was so successful. :)

For those that feel that 4.5+ is too large... hold a Moto X in your hand. With a 4.7" screen, it is not much larger than than the iPhone 5. In fact, the Galaxy s3 is huge next to it, although they have the same screen size.

As long as they do it in a multiple model strategy it's fine with me. I want to keep my 4" phone. Even if they limit it to the C models I'm good. I've used larger phones and I simply prefer the smaller phone for two reasons. One the physical size. No, I don't wear skinny jeans. I'm a cop and anything much larger won't fit in my shirt pocket. Pants pockets are out of the question and it wouldn't last a month attached to my belt. The second is one handed use. Yeah, everyone seems to say it's overrated but it's important to me. If they made a zero bezel iPhone the same size a the 5 with a 4.3 or whatever would fit I would still choose the 4" screen.

I completely agree this is something they need to do. They are losing out on a lot of sales by staying with a small screen. I know I am in the minority. The general consumer is demanding larger screens. Apple is getting by on it's stature as a premium product, it's simple to use OS and it's loyal followers. To have sustained success they are going to have to move to a larger screen size one way or the other. If the iPhone 6 debuts with a 4" screen I will be floored, and I'd short Apple stock in the process as I would see it as their set in stone ways completely defeating what's best for the business.

It will be interesting to see how the mingle this with their desire, and need IMHO, to keep the resolutions as multiples for easy software development across various devices and desire to keep retina resolutions.

How quickly the tone on this board changes from the "stupidly big S4 and Note" to a great thing when Apple is finally doing it. Hypocrisy at its best...
