It would become quite heavy.
It's still a tumor I wish wasn't there. Considering how fugly most (not all) iPhone photos look with the gross over-processing, I can't imagine there being much difference if the z-height was shrunk to fit in the device's chassis again. Or make the rest of it thicker. Either way. Weight shouldn't be too much of an issue since the phone should be the size of a so-called mini anyway #GotEm.
Id take a phone thats 10X heavier over 1mm of camera bump sticking out past the back. But thats just me

The black lenses look so ugly they should be same color as the phone, you will tell me it’s not technically possible I don’t care.
Like the bump, helps me keep my fingerprints off the lens.
The current iPhones are already too heavy for my taste. The original SE had zero camera bump and made great pictures in daylight, while weighing only two thirds of the regular iPhone 15, and only half of the Pro Max.
It looks nice, but I don’t like the Torch/Flash LED position.

Why not just bring back Ive so products at least start to look exciting? Then bring back whoever was running retail before the ex-Burberry lady came and messed it all up. Together, they can take a shot at making the Apple experience great again.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but if they wanted to reduce the camera thickness without quality loss couldn’t they just make the camera wider instead?
I prefer good optics over a slim device. Be better if the phone got a bit thicker and with that thickness got a bigger battery to boot.
You know what? I actually don’t hate this design. It’s not as similar to the iPhone 12, and feels very modern

Why can't the flash sit in between or below both cameras? Would look cleaner

I don't really care that much about photography. If I did, I would buy a dedicated camera.
If somebody did the math on the volume of the current battery minus the volume of the camera bump, I would be curious to see what percentage of battery loss that would be? Im betting I would be ok with that battery loss in exchange for a flush camera.
Or if they are rearranging the inside (I know this is easier said than done) then find the volume of the camera bump, and translate that to extra thickness for the same battery life. Couldn’t be much more than 2-3 mm extra?
Just make the phone thicker, and let those preferring light phone deal with the increased weight.
