On one hand, I have a nagging feeling that blocking sites and apps will backfire. It's not like these low-IQ Trumpers need more reasons to feed their delusions that Bill Gates (and now Tim Cook) are secret Q-anon leaders or whatever. On the other, it is totally reasonable for a company to decide that its products and sites cannot be used for hate speech and incitement to violence.

Apple should be suspended from having any great ideas for the coming 2-4 years. Remember forums? What was that all about. That was the social media of the day. We can't just ban things that has anything to do with anything.

I personally should be banned from just breathing with all the horrendous thoughts I have each waking moment. Destroy! Troll! Take is easy! Pr0n! Sleep! Flip someone off! Relax champion! You're not all that! I'm the greatest of all time and I shall take over the world!!!
YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Telegram, MacRumors, Discord - everything I use is an option for me to feel some validation. I'd like Apple to take the steps to remove Parler from the App Store. I thought for a long time about signing up for this.

I'll eventually probably do nothing about it and just sit idle as the slouch I am.

:D

Also the vast majority of Democrats vehemently disagreed with the riots, which were totally separate from the peaceful protests. Every elected official you can think of condemned the violence forcefully and often.
And it was totally amazing to see all the neo nazis, boogaloo boys, proud boys etc caught inciting riots, starting fires, hurling stuff at police to get a violent response, etc

Why is not letting your users promote violence such a controversial stance?

Ive always found the Nazi comparison amusing, but also very sad. A good portion of the country has been convinced that anyone who isn’t left extremist is a Nazi. 150 Million Americans didn’t suddenly become KKK members. Also, I’ve found it very off putting, I can’t imagine what actual Holocaust survivors think of the comparison. You can hate Trump, but to compare your distaste for his tweets to slaughtering millions of people? A bit off base.
Do they really have to reach the point of murder before they can be qualified as Nazism behavior? What about literally performing Nazi salutes?

What about what GoP lawmakers literally quoting Hitler, and condemned by the literal Holocaust surviors you're referring to?

What about inviting a literal Holocaust denier to a State of the Union address event?

There's people that haphazardly toss out accusations of Nazism. There's also genuine Nazi comparisons. Look past the former and you'll understand why it's not off base at all.

Shouldn’t they be banning the Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit apps as well? I’m no fan of Parler, but it’s easy to find content on those other sites that is just as incendiary and hateful - despite the fact that they claim to have moderation policies.
I think the difference here is those other apps/sites advertise their terms of service, and then actually enforce them. It would be like Instagram suddenly allowing pornography.

Let’s be honest none of the democrats had an issue with cities being burned down and people being killed at the blm riots, but now they have another view on what happened because it’s orange man bad, trump told people to go home how is that inciting violence
Let's be honest, if the orange man conceded like a gentlemen on November 8th, January 6th would never have happened.

One man kept stirring up a crowd for 2 months. One man keeps peddling conspiracy theories. One man pointed at the State Capitol while smiling at armed nutbars with twist ties.

If it were not for insurrection the US wouldn’t exist in the first place.

fairly normal person here - hadn’t even heard of parler until this week. just wanted to let everyone know I think we’re all gonna be ok.

Oh yeah, a few of them were arrested, and then funds were raised by the liberal elite to bail them out. How quickly I forget.

“A few” = an estimated 14,000 people who were arrested in protests nationwide this summer. Over 400 people were arrested in DC alone over a 4-day period this summer. And many of them were beaten with batons, pepper-sprayed, tear-gassed, shoved to the ground, or shot with rubber bullets. It’s getting pretty sad to watch the right concoct tortured arguments to justify their Messiah inciting insurrection against his own government.

So they are all allowed to say this and nothing happens

I will stop supporting apple if they do this, freedom of speech is dying for anyone with conservatives views, trump didn’t tell people to go fight, also Kamala told the rioters at blm rallies to not stop and keep going and many died that’s a lot worse and they are fine
Civil unrest is not the same as domestic terrorism. Over throwing the government, or trying to overturn a free and fair election is not a conservative view. It’s a terrorist view. Please stop calling yourselves conservative.

You’re proving my point, how do three or four people represent half of America? Are we going to apply these same standards to Harris and Biden? Or is this only an issue when it’s with the party you disagree with?

Regardless your political views, this should worry everyone. From Twitter banning him permanently to taking down apps because they don't like what they say. This is dangerous. I don't like the stuff Trump has said, but this is a very scary precedent to set.
No, it really shouldn't worry anyone.
Running into a theatre and shouting 'FIRE!" is not freedom of speech. Peddling baseless conspiracy theories which end up with people getting killed for literally NOTHING is not Freedom of Speech. Freedom of Speech is not absolute. Opinion does not carry the same weight as facts.
When you sign up to a service provided by a private company, part of that process involves you agreeing to abide by their terms and conditions. If you do not, they are entitled to show you the door, and rightly so, as you already agreed to that.
Don't like the T's & C's? Don't click that button. What do you mean, you didn't read them? Isn't it apparent where the problems lies for those decrying this move as an attack on Free Speech and the rise of Communism/Marxism in the US?
