I have a hard time imagining a phone better than the 6 plus. They really knocked it out of the park with that product.

Maybe a 12 megapixel camera would be good. Or RAW capability, but I imagine that would require a lot of memory and processor power and might be asking too much. Still, pictures with all that RAW information are essential for really professional photo processing with PS, etc.

It really does take nice pictures already, though. Great phone all around.

Maybe that’s true. However, they could be making mistakes in the long run by maximizing present profits, as they had done it before in the 80s. If they don’t grasp those “could be yours” customers right now (e.g. those prefer smaller size, or those care a little bit more on the price, etc.), after these users have dived into the Android world deep enough, it will be much more difficult or even near to impossible for Apple to win back those customers, even if they did introduce products suit those customers at that time. You know, switching platform is quite painstaking.

No, the world is moving farther and farther away from the things you want. While you don't see it, you're like those people who insisted the iPhone needed a physical keyboard to compete.

Interesting potential upgrades... But recent price increases for non-US is a definite show stopper for any upgrade from my current 6+

From my experience (OK, limited to my uncle) a lot of DSLR owners these days have them because they're big and expensive (compared to point and shoot) and have no idea what RAW is and the advantages it has.

I'm guessing the percentage of iPhone owners who know and care about RAW is very small, and having the option makes things more complicated for the user so I don't think it's something they'd do.

Personally I'd like to see an optical zoom in there - talk about an unrealistic hope!

Yea Pink is deff on its way for the ladies & probably some dudes...

Maybe they'll offer a 4GB 5S for $549.:D.

You sure it's not 2GB?

Unapologetically minimalist.

Add 2gb of RAM and get iOS purring again and maybe I'll upgrade early.

It's also about software efficiency as well.

Android has had multicore processors since 2010 but it wasn't until 'Project Butter' that the 'laggy Android' problems were solved.

The issue I see is that force touch would require additional space inside the casing, meaning a thicker phone, meaning... Apple won't do that.

How do you know how much additional space is required?

At any rate, I wonder if the force touch would apply to the whole screen, or just the home button (eliminating the need for a physical switch which is prone to break).

The one indisputable fact is that "the world" doesn't want one thing. And certainly there are plenty of people who don't want the same thing as your small circle of friends. Plenty of people want small size and are willing to accept less functionality-- in fact some people prefer less functionality. I know plenty. And price is always an issue for the majority of people. As far as where "the world is moving", the next iteration of iPhones will have to address where "the world" is 1-3 years out, not where it might be 5-20 years from now.

Watch that Samsung Galaxy S6 getting a special breast cancer awareness edition next week...

I don't know what's sadder - that a comment like this gets 38 upvotes - or that it appears in this thread in the first place. Must Samsung, Google or Microsoft be brought into every thread? And as if a color option is something to really get pissy about anyway.

If they make pink, presumably with a white front, I hope they switch gold to a black front. I like gold, but I don't want a white bezel around my screen.

i mocked one of those up recently, as i haven't seen a decent representation of it, at least not in google images. not too shabby, imo. prob not for me though..

I don't see why all the hype over colors when 95% of people just throw a case on it and you can hardly see any of the actual color of the phone.

I think they should do a solid black phone. I really did like the slate color of the iPhone 5 and I think it'd hold up better on the 6 without the chamfered edge to chip off.

Or they could change up the color of the front side. At least then the aforementioned 95% of owners that slap a case on would get to see their new color change...

Don't get me wrong, I like my space gray well enough -- but since we're on the topic of colors....

So does the 13 rmbp new trackpad still have click too?

I believe the new trackpads on the new MB and MBP do not have a click that actually presses down physically, but the tactic engine can simulate a clicking feel that is almost identical to mechanical clicks.

I'm waiting on transparent aluminum :)

i'd say that number is falling rapidly. at least on the east coast cities i've been to recently. lots and lots of naked phones. maybe a lot of people are taking extra care of them now, having all seen/experienced the horror of a broken face one too many times over the years.

Why do I need force touch on the iPhone when the Clock app hasn't embraced swipe to delete an alarm, you can't press and hold to copy an event in the Calendar app or swipe to add a track to an On-the-go Playlist in the Music app (which isn't present in the Music app but is in the Podcasts app)?

For those of us who aren't interested in the Apple watch right now, what is the benefit of force touch? I am not seeing much there.

As far as the next gen iphone is concerned, the most important benefit of force touch is that it has the potential of replacing the physical home button. And doing that has a number of advantages...

removing the home button means one less component simplifying manufacturing the iphone and also aid in making a thinner iphone.

without the physical home button, you can make a shorter/smaller iphone. the knock on the iphone is that as the screen gets bigger, the phone gets alot taller making it harder to reach the top of the screen.

now this is me speculating but I'm guessing that eventually the force touch screen will evolve and allow you to create virtual buttons any where on the screen. so instead of just having the home button, you can add a row of virtual buttons at the bottom much like the buttons on some android devices.

there could be more but these are the ones that came to mind right away.
