And way better. I don't understand why people love the crappy air. Worst Mac I ever owned, and I've owned dozens. The Macbook Air is dead. Its not coming back, there is no reason with the 12" Macbook and the 13" Macbook Pro both being smaller than it.
If it still flies, why buy a new one at all?I'll buy one of the new MacBook Pros if (in order of importance):
- they offer a model without the TouchBar and with traditional F-keys + Touch ID.
- they offer a model in a black finish (ala the iPhone 7)
- they drop the price $500 per model
If not, I'll hang onto my 15" rMBP from 2013 for a few more years. The thing still flies.
Why is that? And way better. I don't understand why people love the crappy air. Worst Mac I ever owned, and I've owned dozens.
Since when I stop getting excited before WWDC?
If you are a software developer for the OS X platform, for example, you could utilize new features (i.e. touchbar) for demo purposes. Fair enough? If it still flies, why buy a new one at all?
I did just order one on Friday since my 2011 17" died. I think I'll return and wait and see what June 5-9 brings.
What about the iMac? Notebooks have recent updates. iMac is almost 2 years old!!!
More Macbooks?
We have had enough of these overpriced, nothing special boxes.
Apple needs to get the iPhone 8 released ASAP since Apples revenue has taken a massive hit and Samusng has released the S8. So stop the Macbooks and concentrate on the iPhone 8....
Waited and waited for the last years new MBP's and was horrified when I saw them for a variety of reasons.
I rushed out and bought the last ever high spec out of date earlier version as fast as I could.
It has magsafe.
It has a slot I can put my camera card in.
It has USB ports and thunderbolt and HTMI
I can plug it into things.
Good move. I bought two of the 2015 models for the same basic reasons (and the ability to easily upgrade the SSD)
Oh yea, and they were $350 off brand new at best buy for a while there too, so I almost got two of them for the price of a single 2016 model.
Or one could account for the same figures with lower component costs. I imagine the component costs for the MBA / Mac Mini / iMac / MacPro are lower now than a year or two ago.

So while those suckers who bought the late 2016 mbp were dicking around with the touch bar, trying to figure out how it was worth the uptick in price, I was actually getting work done, and so was my daughter (who got the other 2015 MBP)
I was talking Revenue, This has nothing to do with costs / profit.
Apple claimed this quarter that their Mac lineup hit a record for Mac revenues.
HOwever, when looked at the estimated volume of Mac sales over the year, they were not significantly up. This meant that the bulk of revenue growth Apple experienced in Mac sales was due to increase in prices across the Mac lineup, in Addition to roughly 30% price increase on most international markets.
But yes, With the increased revenues from higher prices, coupled with decreased cost due to economies of scale and being generally older in technology, Apple's margins on their Mac lineup was good.
What does the touch bar actually do?I just bought mine last week. At least it is a custom config with faster processor, graphics card and larger SSD.
They got 1 letter wrong:
Apple will release a macbook arm, not air
Would be nice though: a " low price" macbook with an arm soc instead of x-86, apple' s chromebook!
I cannot imagine the sales have been that impressive,
