Seems too much HW for a WWDC.....and I doubt they will release a new MacBook Pro so soon, especially after stating that it is selling so well...
We might be lucky with 1 hw , 2 max and of course those might be either a Mini / MacBook or an iMac / MacBook combo.

The rest will be pretty much a "how good our AFS is" kinda event I guess....

Might also get a bonus as Apple Watch 3, mostly because the new platform might require more developer input.

I certainly don't. The smart speaker perhaps could happen. The iPad and Mac updates are highly unlikely. WWDC is primarily developer based and I can't see Apple drawing this much attention away from the true meaning of WWDC.
Still, they did announce quite a bunch of products during WWDC events in the past. Like numerous users have pointed out already, it has primarily been software-centered for the past three iterations. All of the events that have fallen in this category and predate 2015 (hence those going from 2014 and further back still) have had at least some hardware announcements. It would, in a way, make perfect sense to announce hardware aimed at professional users during an event that is mainly geared toward people who feel themselves being part of this exact group.

I most certainly hope that Apple will announce hardware; iMacs to be more precise. I refuse point blank to buy anything that is more than 2 years out-of-date even if it's not built yet, as is the case with the current-generation iMac. In cases like mine, this would almost certainly mean a venture toward Ha**intosh, as I simply have little choice. I would gladly spend upward of $4K to get my hands on a new (i.e. just-released) iMac, as mine is literally an inch from kicking the bucket… As we speak, it's booted off an external drive, because the power line to the internal one has died. And as I'm on a Late-2007 model, I feel it would most certainly be unwise to invest in any repairs for it.
Therefore, I would have to then make up my mind and opt for a new model. Now, if Apple refresh their line-up, I would most definitely prefer the legit thing. But if they postpone much longer, I may well have to look at alternatives. Be it *NIX, Ha**intosh or even a forceful switch back to Windows (Mind you, I only say forceful because I'd rather keep using MacOS, but I must say Windows has come on leaps and bounds since I made the switch to Mac back in '07.

Long story short: I certainly hope the iMac will receive a long overdue update…! But, as is always the case: seeing is believing!

The most likely release would be a Kaby Lake Retina MacBook but they could release this silently with only a press release. It's already been one year since the last iteration. I can't see a lot of new hardware being released until after the back to school promotions end and the conventional new release of products in the fall.

My wishlist is for an affordable laptop with more than 13" screen ...

so I'm hoping for Macbooks with 14" and 16" screens along with the 12"; with a new keyboard and 720p webcam

No thanks. Having 2 models is good. Just get rid of the MBA as it's just outdated (although I still own mine from 2011). But having a form factors is good have one consumer Mac with option to become pro-sumer and one other Mac that's oriented to pro's and has all the necessary power and necessary upgrades.

Please, forgive me if it does not make sense, but the old "good, better, best" model could work .. well, kinda... with a few adjustments... :p

I mean:
- people thought the iPhone 5/5S like option would be dead by now... but... we still have the SE...
- if the iPad mini is to be discontinued, we'll probably have the iPad (A9), the rumored 10.5" Pro and the 12" Pro...
- Mac Mini future remains a mistery, but hey, at least, they mentioned it in that Mac Pro apology interview..

IMHO, the MBA should stay. It would serve the purpose of being the good (and affordable) option. Even with a non-Retina display and the old ports, as others have already said, its price will still be a good reason for people to choose them, specially with updated internals..

We'll all know in June :D

Nothing would surprise me at this point. My personal opinion is that for the past few years that Apple has been behaving like a ship without a rudder (at least with regard to Macs). They have lost my confidence but I would love for them to win it back.

MBA might not be dead? Hmmm, howabout FHD, 16Gt RAM option and kaby lake.. would buy a one instantly!!!

If you right off the bat mention your desire to have 16GB RAM in an Apple product, you don't fit the MBA market niche. People that are in the market for a MBA are... 1) They do not need/want all the bells and whistles. 2) Basic use - they want to surf the internet, put an email together, do their school work, and occasionally stream stuff online. Pair it up with an Apple TV, you are good to go. 2.1) They do not care about having Retina display. 3) They do not want to deal with adapters (as opposed to 12" MacBooks + $300 more in price). 4) For basic use, it offers good longevity for the intro/average user. 5) They get a similar battery life. 6) The MBA niche do not really care about what generation processor they get. 7) The MBA is a great laptop for a first time Apple user (think HS/college kids, senior citizens or someone switching from Windows) to find their way around and get a better understanding of what Apple products can do.
I also think that the existence of the MBA 13" (GF2) and MBP 13" (839 model from 2015) are correlated. As long as there are occasional sales that bring down the price of the 839 down to $1099 or $1149, people will consider getting the 839 for an extra $100/150 instead of the GF2 for the "extra" features.
Kind regards,

Would be nice if they fixed the MacBook Pro. Main request: give us a max-spec option with NO TOUCHBAR. Touchbar is a downgrade but they require it on the "top-of-the-line" machines, even though it's an entry-level anti-productivity anti-touch-typing toy.

Apple was "surprised" that Mac Air sales are still strong? It's cause the new Mac Pros suck. Guess what I do my deep learning big data projects on? A Mac Air connecting to Amazon EC2 instances, or to my own GPU workstation at home. I'd like a retina display, but not when it means a crappy new keyboard and annoying huge trackpad without mechanical clicks. Seems like I bought my old Air at "Peak Apple" in 2014 -- everything has been a downgrade in usability from then on.

Oh wow...I was just about to order a maxed out 2015 15" off apples online store and pay full price since I was not happy with the lag in the 2016 model. I'm now going to wait for June 5th, this is exciting news.

Are we suppose to believe that Apple will announce a Siri speaker, iPad Pro 10.5" AND an update to MacBooks at WWDC? an event that for the last 3 years they have used to show off software only!
Just moving from Skylake to Kaby Lake in the MB and MBPs can be done with a press release. Doesn't even have to mentioned in the keynote. And the timing is certainly right for them to get Kaby Lake (the MB is overdue unless Apple now decides to always skip a processor generation in all their products, and the MBP would also fit if Apple returned to a roughly yearly update cycle with the 2016 MBP simply being several months late).

Kind regards,

Not really true -- I use the MacBook Air for coding, prototyping Tensorflow code, etc. I even took a course in High Frequency Trading from Stanford and ran my HFT machine learning models on the device natively. The Air is great cause it's light and doesn't suck (they didn't replace it's good keyboard with a crappy excuse for a keyboard yet) and has great battery life. I'd love the Retina Display on the Air.

Macs used to get refreshed multiple times per year, until the last abnormally long cycle. There would be nothing unusual at all about a silent spec bump around June, but I don't see them announcing it at WWDC. The spec bumps would just go live on the store, as they always have in the past.
I am inclined to think that they would do a "silent" update too. I just hope the new chips are cooler when used intensively. This may resolve the clicky keyboard issue of the MacBook Pros 2016 as reported by some here.

Sales of the MacBook Air "remain surprisingly strong" due to its affordability.

God, they really don't understand at all, do they?

It's not about the price, it's about the feature set. My 2013 Macbook Air is the best computer I've ever owned. I don't want to lose magsafe. I don't want to lose ports. And I don't want a slimline keyboard.

None of their newer laptops are appealing to me. If they bring out an Air with better specs, magsafe, and just as many ports, even at a higher price, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

The Macbook Air is dead. Its not coming back, there is no reason with the 12" Macbook and the 13" Macbook Pro both being smaller than it.

You're probably right that it's dead, but there are three reasons I prefer it: magsafe, ports, full-travel keyboard. At these sizes, size isn't the primary consideration any more. The reason it's still selling well despite being two years out of date internally isn't the price, it's the practical feature set. Two USB ports, a thunderbolt port, and a goddamn SD card reader all built in are worth infinitely more to me than a couple millimeters off a laptop so light and thin I can't even tell if it's in my bag or not.

I know they'll phase out their practical laptops, but it's the wrong direction, as far as I'm concerned.

I agree, but with all due respect you are one of the outliers. I am NOT saying "you can't do a,b,c,d" or "you shouldn't be buying a MBA to do a,b,c,d"; I am simply stating that the MBA has its own market, just like any other MacBooks do.
Of course you can do coding, run photoshop, and do some other things that you could otherwise more conveniently do with the Pro line. My point is that the MBA and the Pro line markets are different.

I just finished migrating everything from my 12" MB to my new 15.4" MBP and it took almost two days.

I can only send it back until May 26.

Similar case for the 9.7" iPad Pro. I received it one day before the latest rumor of the 10.5" might get announced/released on WWDC.
I don't even use it. The 12.9" was too large for me and the 9.7" is just lying around, because my iPhone 7 Plus isn't that much smaller.

The best would be sending both back now. :(
