My (naive) wishlist for a MacBook Pro that makes sense to me (I know this won't happen at wwdc)

- PORTS! (SD Card Slot, USB A, MagSafe, hdmi, USB C, Ethernet, headphone jack, line in)
- up to 32 GB UNSOLDERED ram
- UNSOLDERED SSD (this is serious!)
- unglued, Removable battery
- price drop

OMG. The whole line-up has become so completely messed up.
Substitution proposal:
1. Rename MacBook (thinnest model, few ports, subspec performance ) => MacBook Air
2. Rename MacBook Pro (singular connectivity, middle of the line compactness, waiting for better CPU) => MacBook
3. Rename MacBook Air (enough ports, subspec screen) MacBook Air retro

Reserve the Pro name for a device that carries the state-of-the-art CPU's, has the most (variety of) ports, has enough substance, magsafe, and NO FURTHER COMPROMISES.
(Oh and rename Phil's role => junior product manager. He completely misunderstands users needs, messed up the line-up, walks around like ......)

Yay,, new MBA .... you still need a budget laptop, just like u need a budget phone (SE). Probably enough of a difference to do away with the Air, BUT you can't justify the price as the reason not to keep it.

Meanwhile, Mac Mini slips away under the carpet. (Well,, i guess it couldn't be all good news.)

I bought my last Mac just after WWDC 2012, when they announced the new Airs and the 15'' Retina for the first time.
While I find unlikely to see new hardware at WWDC (the keynote is already too long just) they might refresh the 12'' macbook and the MPB, just a price cut or a new CPU. It would take a couple of minute to announce, no big impact on the keynote but would make some folks happy

If they can give the 13" 1+ hours better battery life I'll be all over these. I'd prefer they put the Kaby Lake efficiency towards battery life rather than speed.

Ultimately I'd love a quad-core 13" with 32 GB RAM and a discrete GPU, but probably not ever happening.

WWDC 2017
Hardware Update

Macbook Pro
new cpu
32gbs ram

Macbook
new cpu
w/ touch bar
new keyboard

one more thing ...
iPad Pro 10.5"
When was the last time there was a "One more thing..." end to a keynote? Has Tim even ever done that?

One thing I'm wondering is whether the 12" MacBook will get a JB color option with this update. So far, 12" MacBook has been following the iPhone's color options. (e.g., 2015 MacBook & iPhone 6 were available in silver, gold, and space gray, and 2016 MacBook & iPhone 6s added rose gold as a new color option.)

Maybe they make the 15" more powerful, not like an 15" Macbook Air.
[doublepost=1495010336][/doublepost]I'd like the Macbook Pro to have top end hardware. When you have to spend $2500 you don't want to get a budget GPU.

Let's just pull the band-aid off now, gents.

Mag safe isn't' coming back. Neither are USB-A ports. It hurts. But there it is.
MagSafe is a truly huge life saver.
Suck apple bringing it down.
Even though my current MacBook Air 11" is underpowered, I will keep it as long as I can until it is dead.
Why? How does Bloomberg make it an official leak? They won't release all that hardware at WWDC.
Perhaps because Bloomberg is more reputable than media such as BGR or some random Twitter/weibo/whatever leak photos or a few comments here and there.

yes i think Tim did that at least once, but you know that's totally different to Steve's one more thing ...

We need workstations and servers, not a re-release of stuff you just put out a few months ago.
Sigh. Discontinue those air and macbook things, just make one laptop in three sizes from student config to pro user. Nonsense to have 983402 different versions. No wonder the servers and workstations keep getting ignored.
LoL this made me laugh... very good I think you should be CEO of apple

I get that some photographers use MBP but i have zero need for a SD card slot, i'd rather get a reader out of the drawer when i get home personally, i like the USB-c cable design, i just wish one of them had some sort of magsafe on it, surely apple could come up with a USB-c cable and magsafe together?

I am a photographer and I always have a card reader around as I use CF, SD and micro SD, I would be happy with your proposed solution too but sadly I think it is not going to happen.

I am all for pushing new standards but for the transition at least one USB-A port would have been welcomed. Oh well, at least that particular dongle doesn't add much to my travel packing.

Apple doesn't up date stuff, people complain.

Apple updates stuff 'not a re-release of stuff you just put out a few months ago.'... people complain.

Why? Congratulations, you have an incredible machine!! Be happy with it, these spec-updates will not make anything more easy than you experience right now.

I know :) and I really enjoy it.. but still ;) one month too early

Apple's last Macbook Pro was released in 2015.

The models that Apple now calls "Pro" are just overpriced gimmicky toys for rich kids.

No professional I know would consider spending 2,000$ for a low-spec laptop just because it has a... touchbar (wtf!!!!).

It seems that my next laptop will be a hi-DPI 15" running Linux.

That's a bit harsh! the Pro can and is still being used by professionals, one of my friends is a video editor and he loves the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar to edit in Final Cut, he also thinks the new keyboard is great (after getting use to it). I asked about the SD card reader being removed as well and he did admit that it was an issue at first but since he uses Dropbox he's got use to editing footage wirelessly.
I can't confirm this as I'm not a video editor I'm a writer, (i do some video and podcast editing but not very often and not as a job) but by point being that it's NOT a "gimmicky toy for rich kids"

Whatever, I bought my MBP TB 13'' in February with Apple Care and I don't want to buy new MacBook Pro every year.
