I wonder what the chance of even getting a replacement will be in the first few months!

Will they be using whole sets and just separating them? I'm probably more likely to misplace the charging case, any replacement of those?

Oh the questions! :D

agreed, also similar wireless earbuds from samsung are $199 and bragg dash earbuds are about $299...they have their pro/cons but it's all approx in the same ballpark.

I mean the single ear-piece that you see a stereotypical businessperson use to talk on the cell phones with... there are many that don't have a "hook" around the ear.

The old ones needed a hook around the ear because of the weight. The newer ones that are appearing don't... it's just an evolution of the earpiece. (just do a google and out the evolution of Jawbone-style earpieces).
I just did a Google search for exactly what you said and didn't see anything like that.

Any explanation why wires are bad ? Birth trauma with umbilical cord choked Tim Cook ?
I got a few:
  • Wires gets tugged on things dragging the pod out of ear
  • Wires get wrecked under certain conditions of not wrapping it correctly.
  • Users can travel a good distance without device with wireless earphones, not wired.
  • [AirPod Exclusive] can use only one pod for listening to music without dragging the other.
  • DAC in headphone jack could sometimes dampen the quality of music being played.
  • [Headphone Jack] Being tethered to the wall while the device is charging.
  • [When I was 8] my wired headphones tried to assassinate my baby cousin so I had to teach it a lesson. *Holds up scissors*

I did find a few, like this.

They still have pretty big in-ear inserts to prevent them from falling out, unlike the AirPods that just hook onto the outside part of your ear canal.
Yeah those still has a form of hook to keep them in place. I am assuming the airpods can only be worn when walking or sitting. Don't see how they stay in when performing any type of activity. It is also a one size fit all so might work good for some and others it don't.

I think its strangely un-Apple to list the 'lost' price. This implies you'll lose them or they are prone to being lost (they are, but only if you're the kind of person who loses everything anyway). I think they should have more accurately stated the 'replacement' cost. Seeing as that's what its literally for - a replacement. They could get damaged too which isn't being lost.

These little things bother me quite a bit because they just shouldn't happen from a company like Apple who watch their words very carefully.

This is no different than any Bluetooth earpiece... (when those were a thing). $70 - $120 for a decent bluetooth earpiece is not uncommon, and if it falls off your ear and down the storm drain, well.. guess you go buy a replacement.

Now, an event that happens all the time if you take the subway (people bumping into you), or run outside can cost you $69. LOL. Biggest joke of a product Apple has come out in a long time.

But oh wait I know what people will tell me "don't bump into people" or "move to Montana" or "just don't seek human contact"

Here's why you're completely incorrect. If you buy the AirPods, you buy them because you like the fit of the EarPods which more or less never fall out and only do due to wire swaying eventually teasing out the bud, or snagging. For someone who the EarPods fit very snugly with, I ask you what kind of 'bump' were you talking about? What kind of pedestrian bump could inflict such inertia to my head that snug wireless earphones which weigh hardly anything fall out?

I can headbang with EarPods, with the wires swaying and they still don't fall out. Wireless will stay in even better. Just to reiterate, nobody buying AirPods has a problem with the fit of the EarPods.

That is nice. But you are paying for it.

The extra cost is built in to the price and is part of the reason Airpods cost more in the U.K. than the U.S.

Don't get too cocky... remember I'm paying less than $15 a month for my cellular plan, with unlimited minutes, texts and data. Remind me what you pay every month for your plan?!

So, complete battery service is $147.

That’s only $12 less than a whole new kit.

And that’s some fresh BS. Indefensible.

Battery service probably IS a whole new kit minus charging case.
I don't think they will bother to replace batteries.

It doesn't really make sense to get a battery replacement.
Spend 12$ more and just get new ones while keeping the old ones as backup.
Probably what they want you to do with this policy anyway.

I think it's just an evolution, some have hooks around the ear. Some have stabilizers that conture around inside the ear.
I did a quick search on Amazon... I see more and more of these in the last few years:

https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Ea...1846238&sr=8-118&keywords=wireless+ear+pieces

And some of these styles:

https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Blu...81845523&sr=8-38&keywords=wireless+ear+pieces

(I'm not saying they are good, just samples I of styles I was referring to)
I think if earpods work ok for you (ie, they don't fall out when you bump into people), then the wireless airpods should be ok too.

i guess since you have no problems with the ear pods staying glued to your ear, everybody on earth has the same experience as you.

How about An explanation why this post is so poorly written? Wires aren't bad, but that's why the market provides options for wired/wireless. The good news for you is you don't have to purchase these. Unless you believe Tim Cook is traumatically affecting your decision to purchase wireless.

I guess Apple didn't think of a cable option which can be removed for wireless use. Here's the Australian Pricing, however this goes against Australian Consumer Law.

1. You know what would be easier? If they were somehow connected so if one comes out, my $160 pair of headphones don't disappear

2. yesterday I fell asleep on the subway and it fell out of my hand and slid downwards ...

3. As for them fitting easier, that's pretty subjective since people's ears have slight variations.

4. True but I suspect these will be the norm once the new phone comes out next year. Then what

1. Hahahahaha!?!?! Are you being serious? Surely that's a joke! That's the ENTIRE point of these headphones!

2. You're holding it wrong!!!
But why didn't you put your phone in your pocket when you started to feel sleepy?

3. There will be a multitude of options on totally wireless BT headphones within a year or two. She'll be apples, mate.

4. Then what?... Then you can buy any number of BT headphones already available on the market that are connected via a cable (just like you want) OR you can just buy that 3rd party connector cable offered for the airpods.

Apple earphones have never had the best sound or best value for money, but the holiday season is upon us. Feel festive and happy!

As for your other comment, would love to see Elon Musk there, but don't know if he would be interested. We are talking about Apple here so it is not like money would be an issue.
Think how that would go over with the MacRumors crowd if Apple's R&D was suddenly seriously working on both autonomous cars and interplanetary colonization.

What made Steve Jobs so interesting is that he worked on things that weren't expected, and weren't appreciated by many then-current customers. Elon Musk would fill that role, and heads would explode. He'd work on what he was interested in, and if that didn't match what you thought he should be working on, too bad for you!

Great for you. But I could never get EarPods to stay in my ears, so AirPods aren't for me. I wonder what percentage of users have problems with the fit of EarPods / AirPods, and is it smart of Apple to be losing sales because they designed their Pods to fit only one type of ears?

You know what would be easier? If they were somehow connected so if one comes out, my $160 pair of headphones dont disappear and I'm crawling around the subway floor looking for it like some kind of bonobo. Ill give you an example. I rarely drop my phone but just yesterday I fell asleep on the subway and it fell out of my hand and slid downwards since the bottom of the car isn't totally flat. I kept looking under my seat to find it but couldn't. Luckily the woman sitting in front of me found it and gave it to me.

As for them fitting easier, that's pretty subjective since people's ears have slight variations.

Seriously, every product ever made by every company is not going to be made for everyone. I don't understand why people who have issues with these buds fitting into one's ears, despite basing that determination on Apple's existing EarPods, that they want to make it an issue on these forums.

If they don't fit, don't buy them. If you lose stuff like this, don't buy them.

Seriously, not everyone has as many problems as you do with these kinds of things, and Apple is not the only company who makes these kinds of earphones. Are you trying to persuade those of us who like them, not to like them because they don't work for you?

It's really astounding.

Why would anyone pay £160 for badly fitting earphones that easily fall out the ear unless of course you get some ear skins. Even then they still don't block out surrounding sound.
