People eventually chose cordless phones because it offered more freedom to move around.

So wired headphones don't allow you to move?

I'm joking of course, but what's the big advantage of wireless vs wired headphones?

You can't really move too far away from your phone anyway since the BT connection degrades quickly. Also leaving your device unattended isn't a great idea in most places.

I can see the advantage when doing physical activity in some cases. Although quite frankly would you use the $160 AirPods at the gym getting wet with your sweat full of salts and minerals? I wouldn't.

I really don't see the point in wireless headphones.

Total ******* ripoff.

Tim Cook is a joke. The sooner he is fired, the sooner they can get someone in there to save Apple.

How this incompetent has lasted this long is beyond belief.

Are we going to get the same "copy and pasted template" for every Macrumours thread now.

Why would anyone pay £160 for badly fitting earphones that easily fall out the ear unless of course you get some ear skins. Even then they still don't block out surrounding sound.

Because for some people they fit perfectly fine and don't fall out. Most of the reviewers who got an advanced pair spoke positively about the fit. Some even ran, jumped, head banged to demonstrate that the headphones stayed in there ear nicely

Now, an event that happens all the time if you take the subway (people bumping into you), or run outside can cost you $69. LOL. Biggest joke of a product Apple has come out in a long time.

But oh wait I know what people will tell me "don't bump into people" or "move to Montana" or "just don't seek human contact"

LOL, what kind of pleb takes the subway?

It doesn't have to be that far away.

One very common scenario - I am in the living room listening to music on my iPad through my headphones. Suddenly, I want to get up to get a drink from the kitchen. With wireless headphones, I can do this without interrupting my listening experience and having to put down my headphones. With wired headphones, I have to either bring the iPad with me and stop the music.

Or I could be doing chores like vacuuming the house and don't want wires to get in my way.

With the beats 3 solo, we are looking at a range of 10m, more than enough range to go to the toilet at the other end of the house and still stay within listening range.

I am currently using a pair of Sony headphones and I can tell you that while I am enjoying it, the wires do get in the way sometimes.

So, complete battery service is $147.

That’s only $12 less than a whole new kit.

And that’s some fresh BS. Indefensible.

LOL, I t
Yup, one of the most unfortunately designed products I have seen in a long time. They look like replacement heads for an electric toothbrush.

But replacement heads for an electric toothbrush with cables connected to them look good, do they? Nice job, mate.

Think how that would go over with the MacRumors crowd if Apple's R&D was suddenly seriously working on both autonomous cars and interplanetary colonization.

What made Steve Jobs so interesting is that he worked on things that weren't expected, and weren't appreciated by many then-current customers. Elon Musk would fill that role, and heads would explode. He'd work on what he was interested in, and if that didn't match what you thought he should be working on, too bad for you!

I think Elon Musk is a pretty smart guy. He separates his businesses, but does leverage the technology and innovation across the board. I think his long term goal is to get to Mars. His solar tech at Solar City, battery tech at Tesla, and obviously rocket tech at SpaceX are all integral to this.

While he is at it, why not innovate on autonomy, ML, AI, and let engineers do their thing at Apple. If Apple were to fit his trend, any computer that can help get someone to Mars is probably pretty damn good.

And this is why wired headphones are still way better than wireless.

No need for a charging box, or batteries, or spending time charging. Also better audio quality, more environmentally friendly, and much more difficult to lose.

Oh dang, Apple forgot to put a headphone jack in the iPhone 7.

My favourite feature of wired headphones is when they get snagged on something and get torn out of your ears. Or the part where you have to carry your phone/laptop around with you to use them. So convenient!

or the part where you behave like an intelligent human being with spatial awareness and stop walking into things while listening to music in glorious, uncompressed quality with no delay and batteries to worry about

The only thing I want to know, is whether or not the sound volume is good enough. I need high volume. Beyond the limit.

Why would a replacement AirPod have any more or less volume?

LOL, oops. You totally forgot to address my comment. Why should I have to carry around my device with me just to be able to listen to music? Why should I have to be tethered to my phone, laptop or computer? LOL, do you not even know how to read or something?

Apple earphones are actually the few earphones that stay in my ear. Most earphones won't even fit in my ear.

1. Hahahahaha!?!?! Are you being serious? Surely that's a joke! That's the ENTIRE point of these headphones!

2. You're holding it wrong!!!
But why didn't you put your phone in your pocket when you started to feel sleepy?

3. There will be a multitude of options on totally wireless BT headphones within a year or two. She'll be apples, mate.

4. Then what?... Then you can buy any number of BT headphones already available on the market that are connected via a cable (just like you want) OR you can just buy that 3rd party connector cable offered for the airpods.

Apple earphones have never had the best sound or best value for money, but the holiday season is upon us. Feel festive and happy!
1. uh, with wired headphones, if one comes out i can easily put it back in because its hanging from the wire...

2. are you seriously suggesting that when i doze off i should remember to put my phone in my pocket? seriously are you some sort of robot? should i program my brain to think "if ive reached stage 3 of sleep on the subway, then I should create an automatic response to put my phone in my pocket?

3. fair enough

4. so ill have to spend more money just to get functionality i already had. seems right up apple's alley nowadays

Seriously, every product ever made by every company is not going to be made for everyone. I don't understand why people who have issues with these buds fitting into one's ears, despite basing that determination on Apple's existing EarPods, that they want to make it an issue on these forums.

If they don't fit, don't buy them. If you lose stuff like this, don't buy them.

Seriously, not everyone has as many problems as you do with these kinds of things, and Apple is not the only company who makes these kinds of earphones. Are you trying to persuade those of us who like them, not to like them because they don't work for you?

It's really astounding.
i don't have that many problems. the headphones fit me relatively well. however when i'm at the gym or walking in a crowded area, they might fall out. as it is now, its just connected to a wire with my phone, so its not big deal. this just creates more problems than it solves.

i guess since you have no problems with the ear pods staying glued to your ear, everybody on earth has the same experience as you.

You complained about a replacement being expensive when they fall out of your ear if you breathe too fast. You wouldn't even buy these if they didn't fit you. The logic here isn't hard to follow. Its a Catch-22esque situation. People would be buying replacements for misplaced (forgotten somewhere) or damaged (god knows how) units.

You just want to complain about something, don't you? That's what most people here seem to post for.

lol "breathe too fast" i'm guessing you've never actually worked out.

also no i only complain if i feel its warranted. everything apple's done this year though has in my opinion.

Maybe you're too much of a pleb to own wireless headphones. Problem solved.
never has there been someone on this forum with the least applicable avatar to match their posts

Because that's the cost of high quality audio.

Why should I care about high quality audio over convenience? Also, do you carry an amp and DAC with your phone and cabled headphones? Or do you half-ass your high quality audio, you ****ing pleb?

LOL you're living up to your username, clearly

Why? What does anything in this discussion have to do with Brooklyn Nine Nine?

Someone else already mentioned how you can walk to the bathroom or kitchen without interrupting your music. I'd add that wireless earphones allow me to keep my phone or iPad in my bag or backpack, and not worry about whether the wire will get tangled or pulled if I move the wrong way.

they make pretty portable DACs, so... it wouldn't be too weird.

as for the latter part of that quote, i'll just go ahead and ignore that little emotional outburst of an attempt at being witty

it doesn't; i'm just reading it as a description if anything

Yeah, not what I asked. I didn't ask if portable DACs and amps exist. I asked if you use one. Because why the **** are you telling me to prioritize sound quality over convenience if you, yourself, aren't willing to use this portable DAC/Amps to get the improved sound quality out of your smartphone+spotify combo?

as for the latter part of that quote, i'll just go ahead and ignore that little emotional outburst of an attempt at being witty

That's certainly one way to dodge a completely legitimate question. Sad.

So how is my Brooklyn Nine Nine reference relevant?

What are you on about mate? From bumping into people to working out? What? Where's the connection to working out with what I said? These aren't even intended for working out. I don't even use earphones/headphones at the gym. Why is your salt at other Apple stuff leaking here? Keep your thoughts on individual cases within the case. Be glad they're not being insane enough to make people buy a full set of both AirPods and charging case if you need 1 AirPod. This was a concern for a while, not that I thought they were dumb enough to do this.

You're complaining that Apple is charging for replacement AirPod things. Two replacement AirPods would cost $138. That's $21 under the price for the whole set. It probably costs around $21 to manufacture the battery case and the Lightning cable and then box it up. Where is your legitimate complaint in this? This is probably the most reasonable pricing Apple has ever done even AFTER heavily undercutting and outperforming the competition. Tell me exactly where the problem is with this pricing is because I'd LOVE to hear.

Take your negative energy and depression away from here. I'm starting to think that you're aware there's no problem with these but you just want to post negative stuff in any form. Please stop.
