There is one app that was released in iOS6, I bought it and then was abandoned by the developer. I still use it to this day on 9.3.5.

I would hate to see that go. Best engineering calculator on store.

I use a checkbook app daily that was last updated February 2013.

If you have the app on your device you'll be able to keep using it. It just won't be visible for new users to download.

If you want to re-install them, you can go to the App Store and download them again. However, I will give you the benefit of the doubt as I think what they are really doing is hiding them from the home screen since the download happens too quickly for it to be a download :)
Yep unfortunately it just hides them. Probably would be a godsend if they deleted the binaries for people with 8GB (I think just the 5C is left thank god) and 16gb iPhone https://twitter.com/panzer/status/742907812901048320?ref_src=twsrc^tfw

Apples guidelines state that any App should provide functionality without requiring a login / registration.
The list of those prominent Apps would be long.
It bothers me that Apple has double-standards left and right.
I know lots of Apps that have not been recompiled since iOS 7 and are totally crappy.
What happened to 64bits, transition to Swift and modern Security Frameworks.

It's still in your purchased items. You can get it whenever you want. People like me who have never had a need for one and want to get that app, it won't exist for me to get.

If an app still works on the current iOS, I don't see any reason to remove it. I have been buying apps since the first app store and some of those really old apps work fine. I'd hate to lose them just because they're old. Yes, I know they're on my iPhone or iPad but I want to download them to new devices too.

Translation: All 32 bit apps will be deleted from the store and from the user purchases and the app store will be like the Apple Store app and no longer work with iOS 8 and earlier but require iOS9 64 bit devices from now on. AKA Must purchase new iPhone. (They will say that the user must maintain their own copy of apps that were purchased from now on.)

This has been the case for a while now. (maintaining your own purchased software) I've been keeping my apps downloaded to my iTunes and my iPhone for a while now just in case something happens like what happened to Blades of Fury, the original dungeon hunter, the Hero of Spartian series, DDR, etc. I can still install those apps because they're downloaded to my iTunes library.

Sorry bro, your "I Am Rich" app is trash! :D
LOL.....can't stop laughing.

Historically when Apple has done this, it's just no longer available for acquiring for new people. If you've acquired it in the past, the app will stay on your phone and you can continue to download it in the future as long as you are using the same Apple account.
Thanks, action. I knew you come through with explanation. I was feeling this icky ..goose bump earlier....
Thanks though.

A lot of apps will be deleted from the App Store. I have one app called CityTime that's still available, but hasn't been updated for the larger screen of my 6s or even the 5/5s/SE. I'm hoping the loss of income will put a fire on this guy's rear end to update his app. Another app is a game called Bridgy Jones. The Polish developer promised more levels 3 years ago and there hasn't been a update since.

Wow that's half the app store. No seriously, any app that is not updated within the last 1 year should be automatically removed. I'm so sick of old apps that don't function well with OS changes.

I totally agree. Some developers don't care if you pay for a subpar experience. This will push a good number to update in the coming weeks, and for some to finally become Google Play exclusive officially.

As far as the you can download it forever thing....that is not always true. I had downloaded Fluid & Fluid2 back in the day...like iOS 3 days. The developer didn't renew his developer account and for years I wasn't able to redownload it. Recently he signed back up and I was able to redownload it...but I went a few years without it. Let me tell you....you can really miss an app that plays the same song and lets you touch a cheesy water effect. I don't know how I lived without it. Fluid 2 lets you toss euros! There also was an app back a few years ago that Apple pulled and was not able to be redownloaded. People were selling devices on eBay for big money because they had it installed....I can't remember what it was.

But make your peace with "I Am Rich" before it disappears forever. That one day you have to reset the iPhone.....that's $999 you'll never enjoy again. But I am sure that app has already paid for itself 220 times over.

I'm very happy to see this as the store is full of outdated and useless apps.

I wish they'd also clean up the functional, but garbage apps, but that is a matter of judgement and couldn't unfairly remove apps I suppose.

I'd like to see a filter where I can remove from display any App with an "in-app" purchase. For me this would be very useful in the game section. I don't want to play the free games that require in-app purchase. But a nice $4.99 morsel of a game would nice to find easier. And I know you can sort by paid and free. That is really helpful. But I don't think you can do that during search.
