This is almost like saying "forging an iPhone in the fires of Mordor"

Hmm iPhone 8 with 256gb of storage 3gb ram at 1500$,in Europe will translate in 1500 euros+ taxes=1800-1900 euros...
All that from the company that said and keeps saying "we don't care about money, all we care/want is to make great products for our costumers".

I have trouble believing this. Aluminum is a much lighter material and they just perfected the colors with the iPhone 7.

I dont see any upsides in using SS. Anybody?
Stainless steel (I'm assuming they would use 302) is much harder and stiffer than 7075 aluminum and in a fully hard condition (such as you would see with a formed piece) is about as strong for the same weight. It also is more scratch resistant. It should work well in a phone chassis.

If Sony is able to make an OLED tv with the speaker inside the display which they showed off at CES recently, I believe Apple could do the same, this concept picture should be updated with the removal of the earpiece speaker cutout. All glass front iPhone with all components behind or inside the display!

glass, metal, aluminium, stardust ... no matter what it's made of , I am still putting a plastic spigen case on it :p

you knows it's going to be £999 :(

Urgggh. I know the're gonna make it a premium model and I know they're gonna over charge for it. But I'm holding out hope that they don't. I don't think Apple are in the best place to be screwing over customers. Customer loyalty and the fandom in general is falling. Seeing them continue to screw people over will just make the bad taste worse. I'm not sure how much more market critisim Apple can take before it really starts to hurt them where it matters - like it already is *cough*worstfinancialyearinages*cough*.

I truly believe these new iPhones will be the best iPhones Apple has ever made.
I truly believe that is exactly how they will be positioned.
And that will not be inaccurate. :p

That said, this is Apple. If history is any indication, there is no way we are getting all of these rumors in one mega device. Take the emotion of the 10-yr anniversary off the table for a sec. OK... Breathe... I'm pretty sure we'll see significant hardware design changes. We've been sitting on the 6 design now for 4 years. So that, in and of itself, will be an optical difference the line has been needing (in the minds of Joe/Jane public). So that, plus another "wow" hardware feature (wireless charging?) is about all anyone here should expect (aside from some neat software wizardry). Remember: Apple has a well-established upgrade cadence for which to adhere. So even if all of these rumors are possible, patented and coming - they're not all arriving at the same time. I see no reason for that to change. Ever.

Regardless, I will be upgrading from my 6.

Besides the amazing feel of the iPhone 3G in my hand, the iPhone 4 was my favorite iPhone design. It's hard to keep a phone looking great when you have glass on the front & back but I'd love to see what Jony's team has done with the design in the last 7 years.

SS Wraper w/ OLED screen and dual cameras and glass or sapphire on the front & back would be a beauty to behold.

it will make me sad if they give the Plus version features the non plus gets I don't want a phone that big I do want the new features tho... :-/ id even pay more to have them in the non plus version I don't want a huge phone... Apple are you listening?

"Yes, we hear you k1121j, and we will obey".

Hmmm. "...adopt a new design using two reinforced glass panes and a metal frame in the middle."

Sounds familiar...

Perhaps.
If manufacturing processes can shave cost, they could maintain current pricing and see larger margins.
Let's wait and see.
democracyrules is right. It will be expensive. They made iphone 7 plus $20 expensive bcause they added a second camera, tbMB pro became $100 expensive as they added touch bar and same for other products as well. Even if they can give in similar pricing line up, they wont give it in same price. If you want more, pay more. That's what Apple's new strategy is nowadays.

Regardless of the materials chosen, a significant redesign is almost necessary at this point. The 7 is a good looking phone that addresses some durability issues, mainly waterproofing. But a 4th iteration on the same 6/6+ chassis would be boring to me.
