I'm taking a bit of a wild guess but 'back to the Mac' probably means a re-balancing - possibly a have two WWDC conferences or make the existing one longer to have a balanced emphasis on Mac OS X and iOS, maybe mentioning of Lion which will probably mean an eventual move to totally LLVM/CLANG and the new libc++ which apparently will me improvements in speed, reliability and so on. Its pretty much all speculation until the day it arrives but I hope that it marks a re-balance in focus on iOS and Mac OS X now that iOS is very mature as of 4.2 (I can't think of any major feature missing that makes it a deal breaker for most people).

Re-balancing would be great! I had enough to where Apple's new news about 90% of it is about the damn iDevices.

I'm getting a little tired of the cat thing.

Like a broken record. And the 'i' thing is pretty boring.

Yeah they're creative LOL.

The turning logo might mean flipping finder windows. That would be awesome. Just hope they fnally add tabs too.

I think they should name OS 11 after Constellations

Constellation names would be awesome for 11. Someone clearly likes astronomy at apple with the time machine theme and the 2 aurora desktops.

FINALLY also, yea they gave it away. But apple seems to be trying to stop being so secretive. They don't want ppl to keep going crazy to find out what's coming out. Think about it. The iPad was talked about on news before announced. A lot. And Steve gave away what was gonna be released before he got to the point of unveiling. Everyone saw the iPhone 4 bf launch and all the iPods and everything in the last year really. Apple wants to "come out" but ppl will attack them if they do it any less subtley.

The only people parroting this constantly are people who know virtually nothing about Apple, their OS, their product line and technology in general.

Even Microsoft has a different OS for "computers" and another for mobile space.

Merging the two doesn't even make sense. The only way OS X is going away (or a future iteration of it) is if Apple drops the entire Mac/Server line. That's IT.

Then what do you expect them to do with these patents on touch iMacs/MacBooks, exactly? You're living in denial.

I love when Apple is like this. Mac. Mac. Mac. I wish it was just iPods and Mac. The iPhone, iPod touch and iPad are annoying as ****. I had to be honest.

I agree. It's exciting that Apple is focusing on Mac. I wonder what they might have in store besides the hint of a new OSX. Is there a possibility of the new Macbook/Macbook Air 11.6'' merger and other stuff.

Finally. Aside from the "Mac" link in the top navigation bar, there is currently no Mac content on Apple's homepage. You wouldn't even know they made the things.

FINALLY, hopefully it will be like the 2008 notebook event. As many of you all are, I am getting very tired of all things "i", ipad, ios, ipod, iphone. ( ipod touch 4th gen is great) but the longing for a Mac focused "event" and not just quiet updates finally is here! really hoping for better gpu in macbook pro

actually a mountain lion is the same as leopard and puma.

the picture is definitly of a lion, not a mountain lion.

hopefully there will be an update with facetime for ichat.

A mountain lion and puma are NOT the same as a cheetah. Cougar, puma and mountain lion are all the same animal, (of the puma genus) located in the western hemisphere, ranging primarily from the Yukon to South America.. A leopard is a primarily Asian and African cat of a different genus. And all of the major cat names have been used except for lion and cougar.

I'm hopping for one too.
But it's not going to happen.

I have to be honest, since getting the iPad, I rarely use my Mac. Of course, the Mac does so much more, but the iPad is simply more accessible and convenient for me. That said, I am looking forward to the event.

I have a hunch that Steve Jobs is going to present a touch screen iMac. It's going to be thiner, sleeker than the current iMac, converging towards the iPad's shape.
Okay, maybe I'm just daydreaming.

the "mr. bigglesworth" update :apple:

Wow, not many people are going to know what you're referring to, but... LOL nice.

I'm pumped! Can't wait until next Tuesday.

You mean Wednesday?

As a recent Macbook Pro buyer, this kind of bothers me. It seems that the Mac hardware and physicals would undergo some changes with this new operating system as most have, I believe, when there is a new operating system.

As an early 2008 MBP owner, I can tell you that you don't need to worry. I'm running 10.6.4 and have yet to come across any OS update that would limit what I can do feature-wise. iOS devices have it MUCH worse.

Frankly, I would hate a touch iMac if that was the only way to interact with it. I have been sitting back in my chair, feet on the desk, cat in my lap, barely reaching the mouse to scroll and flip through these pages. Sitting up to type, I am almost close enough to touch the screen. Don't want to be closer.

Thankfully I believe it is still a good ways off.

Ponders for a moment and says planets. Minor upgrades could be named after the moons of the planets. Most people know the major planets, but a lot don't know all of the constellation names, self included. :)
