I am waiting for 10.8 Cougar

Very excited for this! Expecting:

OS X 10.7 Lion
iChat support for FaceTime
transparent/black menu bar dropdowns (just like the ones that pop up when you click-hold items in 10.6 Dock)
color change of vertical/horizontal scrolling bars (like iTunes scrolling bars)
smaller close/minimize/maximize buttons (like iTunes 10)
no capacitive touch screen gestures or touch screen Macs
iWork and iLife '11

As many people have said, touch screen input simply won't work in Mac OS X, especially capacitive. Resizing windows, closing windows, and moving windows is difficult enough using a fine-pointed stylus on a resistive screen... I've tried. Apple will have to completely re-design the UI before this can happen... don't expect anything anytime soon.

Happy days

Oh, I remember how excited I was about Leopard. Spaces, Quick-look, Time Machine, easy to use file-sharing etc. I got my aluminium iMac the same month it came out. What a combination.

Snow Leopard, cool new techs. Funky, but bit dry.

Lion. The King of Mac OS X.

Did anyone else get shivers down their spine when they saw that graphic for the first time?

I always hate the ones about the new OS... I'd rather they just tell us about it when they release it, there is nothing worse than seeing some new technology or application or functionality that you can use RIGHT NOW and having to wait a year for it. I could hardly wait the month for the new apple tv to come out.

Will I watch it? of course. I like to torture myself.

So the MacBook pros ran on the nvidia 9400m for a long time right. Now only a couple months ago they switched to the 330m gt. So that means that there is a very small chance of the graphics card update right?

except for MBA which still has the 9400m. The other ones... nothing signficant coming as far as replacement parts till Spring. ... hence probably updated in Spring.

IHMHO, the AMD Zacate makes more since for a smaller, lighter MBA, but if they are looking to put minimal tweaks on box then flipping to 320m is about all they can do.

But could 10.6.5 or 10.7 have a software graphics update?

never version of OpenGL. 10.7 should get OpenGL 4.0. Right now Apple ships an older version of OpenGL that doesn't fully exploit the latest graphics processors in the newest hardware systems. While Apple may do another OpenGL 3.x bump to 10.6, in my opinion they hold major version jumps of OpenGL to the major bumps in Mac OS X. Just makes for saner/cleaner QA process. Mac OS 10.6 seems to be matched to OpenGL 3.x (even though it shipped with 2 plus some internal foundation support for 3) . The spec for OpenGL 4.0 froze last spring so if Apple didn't "freeze" 10.7 till June-July then could make the cut. Otherwise it will likely be late ( several months after 10.7 launch but before 10.8 ).

I would imagine there is going to be a better integrated/discrete power management system in 10.7 than if present in 10.6. The current one is OK but clearly is just a safe first stab at a solution.

As a recent Macbook Pro buyer, this kind of bothers me. It seems that the Mac hardware and physicals would undergo some changes with this new operating system as most have, I believe, when there is a new operating system.

This is good timing, I am thinking about getting a MacBook Pro but was worried that if I get one now they will release something really great right after. So either they will announce it on the 20th, or if this is purely an OS X.7 event with no change to the MBPro line, then I can feel safe in making a purchase now.

I do know eventually there will be some wonderful new MBP that will make mine look silly, but at least it will be a little while.

I'm taking a bit of a wild guess but 'back to the Mac' probably means a re-balancing - possibly a have two WWDC conferences or make the existing one longer to have a balanced emphasis on Mac OS X and iOS, maybe mentioning of Lion which will probably mean an eventual move to totally LLVM/CLANG and the new libc++ which apparently will me improvements in speed, reliability and so on. Its pretty much all speculation until the day it arrives but I hope that it marks a re-balance in focus on iOS and Mac OS X now that iOS is very mature as of 4.2 (I can't think of any major feature missing that makes it a deal breaker for most people).

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

I want to see 10.10 LOLCat with the feature "I haz multiz tuch"!

What? I can barely make out what you just wrote.

Anyway, do some research. Mac "physicals" rarely undergo changes. The Macbook Pro has only undergone 1 revision in its entire lifespan, and in fact, the old Powerbook design was not touched when Apple made the change to Intel CPU's.

Mac Osx 10.7 "lion" Wishes...

1. Toggle "Cube Flip" transition from Mac OSX to iOS4 to Mac OSX

This is by far the most beautiful invitation design I've ever seen. Could anyone here can make a wallpaper from it or find a hi res pic? I really want to have it as a wallpaper in my 2008 iMac !

FINALLY!!!!!!

Some NON-iOS news from Apple! It'll let us know if the mac is still dying at least!

Wonder if they'll announce when the white iPhone will be avail?

WHO GIVES A FLYING F? Paint your damn iPhone white yourself.

Anyway, if Apple is going to update their notebooks, this could end the C2D's. The I3's could be lowest processor of all notebooks. Maybe a minor battery life bump as well.

Awesome! This will be awesome.

I know when they make new features I'll be like "oh yeah, I shouldve thought of that because it's so obvious"

Then 10.8 will be Mountain Lion
