No, everyone is assuming like it's actually fact.

Erm. Macbook won't get an upgrade. It's made for surfing the web and doing email. So it shouldn't be slow for those tasks.

When one wishes something soooooooooo much, it will become a reality.

Well TBQH it does take getting used to as with anything new. That's pretty standard. I just know I make less mistakes than with those noisy sausage keyboards that have HUGE travel.

I'll likely find out. Unless something is really weird about these new laptops, I'll be getting one. Travel was the biggest problem to me. A little more—we're talking like a millimeter—would make it feel less flat. But who knows how I'll feel after a week. Dunno. I've never been a huge of the chicklet keyboards whether on the laptops or the standalone keyboards.

I'm generally on an external anyway. I have Filco mechanical at the office that I could use as a blunt object for beating co-workers if necessary. Haha.

Why in the world would people be opposed to NEW computers pushing forward with NEW standards??? USB C is the future. I would refuse to buy the computer if it had a single USB A port. This will force manufacturers to speed up development of the next generation of peripherals.

to me it seems a bit silly that they would remove headphone jack. apple sent out a survey in September 2016 asking users on if they use a headphone jack and sd card. why would they bother investing $ on survey to ask users for such a thing...these cant be implemented on such a short notice so i am 100% sure both will stand in terms of ports sd card and headphone jack...the next lineup of MBP might "suffer" tho.

Those are awesome!

Of course you do - the beautiful new range of $90 adapters.
Yeah no kidding. Price of Mac + $75x4 extra slipped in $300

This will be like the Rapture for macs. What doesn't get updated will be discontinued.
That's gonna be so sad...

Is it just me, or are these rumors making anyone else roll their eyes at some of the "features"? Call me old school... Hell call me a crybaby, but who the hell needs a touch screen on a Macbook Pro?! My MBP is a work horse so a touch function would only handicap the accuracy I need when performing certain tasks. On a regular Macbook, fine. I just don't see it on the Pro.

When my 2014 retina dies, I will buy another 2014 retina, or have it fixed. I don't see myself owning any newer models for the foreseeable future.

For anyone who made it this far, thanks for taking the time to read my rant. You all have a great day!

2015 rMBPs for my next 5 years, with an ArmBook in the future for kicks and laughs...

They sound awful. The MacBook keyboard is the worst I have ever used. Ever.

No SD card? In the Pro model? Apple...Apple.

The worst part is, I don't see any future where Apple, goes, ok we messed up on the keyboard we're going back to the old ones, one thing about Apple, THEY NEVER GO BACK. They never admit outright failure an have to go back to an old design (yes I know the Apple Maps debacle but that's different, close but different).

Well technically, "professional" means that a degree is mandatory, so all doctors and lawyers, most engineers, some teachers and scientists, few programmers are "professionals". And by the same token, very few "artsy" types are by definition.

What is someone called when they can't get a degree in said profession?

Laters...

oh and 20 pages read damn that was a good read...

Damn. They're killing the SD Card slot too. Sigh. I'm really getting tired of this Apple. I don't want to be cool. I just want convenience.

So why don't you buy a computer that's currently out? What's wrong with their current lineup of Macs? If you need an SD slot so bad, you have options...

Do you have some insider knowledge we don't? Please do share!

Prediction:

- USB C and nothing much else to mention.
- Skylake for the next two years.

Really hope I'm wrong.

"..do away with the USB-A port, HDMI port, and SD card slot, featuring just four USB-C ports.."
So a bigger, faster, version of a MacBook. What's "pro" about doing away with all the ports that make it a useful tool to a professional. Plugging in my Wacom tablet (need a dongle), Downloading photos from my dslr (need a dongle), connecting to my slew of external drives (need a dongle), connecting to an external display (need a dongle)... putting that presentation on a jump drive for the boss while in a taxi.. (sorry boss, need a dongle!)

I was excited about new MacBook Pros to possibly upgrade my 3 year old one - The thing I could take anywhere and plug nearly anything into, to get anything done. To even charge my iPhone and iPad I'd have to get new cables... all for this constant need to be just a little thinner than last time.. to the point where USB/thunderbolt ports are too thick to accommodate, usefulness be damned for progress?!! if you want something paper thin and basically cloud based and wireless stick to iPad and MacBook (air) what next, an iMac and Mac Pros with just a few USB-C ports?!?? (Add some USB-C ports, fine enough, let people make the transition in time.. but don't just remove everything and force a new standard that's still in infancy).

If this turns out to be (totally) true at least the price should drop on the current PRO MacBooks and I might be able to upgrade one last time before needing to upgrade everything I already have to work seamlessly.

Hopefully it's Kaby Lake and not Skylake.

Kaby lake processors of the class used by the MBP are to be released this month also per the Intel release timelines posted before. I don't see how new MBPs could be based on this processor class unless Apple has had very early access to silicon (a distinct possibility) and access to sizable up front orders to sync the product release with the processor release.

If there is to be a delay on the actual release of the MBP after it is announced, perhaps the availability of Kaby Lake processors could be a factor. That and/or a ton of orders due to high demand. I'll certainly be ordering one, USB-C and SD-less, whatever.

The other laptops could get Kaby Lake updates, though I think it's a stretch to think the MBP will get that. I'm perfectly fine with Skylake in the new MBP as I'd rather have a solid laptop sooner rather than having to wait yet another quarter or two. Look for a processor update in about 6 months if that's how it plays out on 10/27.

I refused to buy a computer with one USB-C :)

and why would someone be opposed to computers pushing new standards? Don't confuse resistance to change to bad implementation by apple.

1) The world still uses USB-A, SD cards, and HDMI. This is just convenient. Nothing to do with fear of a new standard.
2) Headphone jack? Will it come with lightning? If not, their new headphones can't be used with the laptop. That's just poor product planning and poor integration (too early to point this out but no rumor if it will include a lightning port)
3) USB-C - I have no problem with the standard, but it's weird how USB-C and lightning are so comparable. Why not ditch lightning?
4) mag-safe2 - I think my laptop lasted this long because of this one cool feature. I would have broken my screen long ago if it wasn't for this great invention. So this will be missed by me! Maybe USB-C pops right out.. so who knows.
5) Poor implementation - Why wouldn't they do a phased in approach, why wouldn't they keep one USB-A so you can actually use the millions of devices.. Why use a direct cut-off approach.. Courage? Or sell more dongles

Lots of analysts and share holders are really questioning if Timmy should be at the helm. Steve wasn't perfect, especially his one button mouse sucked. But Steve's greatest error was leaving Tim in charge.

I bet you that AT LEAST the 15" pro will have a regular USB port.

Let all bare witness hither! Thine Apple shall include USB porteth on thine Macscroll box of wonders! Whosoever loseth thine test of grievance, hence forth, shalt be shackled and thrust within thine pillory, for no more than 3 suns and 3 moons. He who slayeth the contract ageed there-in, shalt face thine guillotine!
[doublepost=1476833149][/doublepost]

On the 15" pr line, YES, absolutely. You think it may be an atrocity but millions would disagree with you. I guess we will find out who is right, soon.

They aren't doing that. They will not mix USB A and C on the same computer. I am astonished anyone thinks that they would.
