Apple to Introduce New Macs at October 27 Event

I'm rather keen on my rock-solidly-stable 300mb Cable Internet connection that I use with my current MBP when it's sitting on my desk where wireless dropouts are not unknown. I suppose Ethernet - which meets my needs - is going down the drain as well! So my guess is that now it's a dongle for my current USB printer, thumb drives and card router, a dongle for an SD card, a dongle for an Ethernet connection (if it supports it)... I guess when the trashcan Mac Pro was released, we really were looking at the future. I wonder if Apple will be introducing all these dongles at the event too...

This would be very, very not cool. So much so in fact that it would be GOTO BUY DELL XPS time.....

I am already thinking about an XPS if the specs of the new Mac are not futuristic. But I don't have too much information on why ARM processors be good or bad. I was hoping if they can make powerful mobile processors they probably can do well in the PC chips.

I wasn't aware of those. Although it seems that my argument has been shot to **** with these photos, I am holding on to my conviction that the 15" pros will have USB A. If I'm wrong, I will make a thread about how stupid I am. Considering my level of stupidity, you will have to read a lot.
I've just made a reminder to alert you to create that very thread on this board. Can't wait to see your admissions of stupidity :D.

Oh and I'm a man of my word. However, I don't believe the opposition will make their own thread, if... WHEN, they lose.

I'd never buy a Dell every again after my experience with Dell XPSs (yes, this was back in 2010) with the attitude that they can keep replacing motherboards with the same dud designed one that burns out the GFX regularly and not make a rev.2 of that laptop quickly.

I'm going to keep my rMBP from late-2013 going until USB-C really beds in. Hopefully all revised Macs will go 100% USB-C to rev up adoption and force 3rd party vendors to move on from USB3.0 via USB-A.

Well looks more likely, the big question is, will Apple update the Mac Pro and Mac Mini lines. Everyone is expecting Skylake for the MBP, but its been eons since Apple paid any attention to the Mac Pro

I'm waiting soo long already for the new macbook. I need a faster one for traveling. Please let them be available asap with fast shipping.
You would think given how close it is to the Christmas season AND how long its taken them to roll this out, that there wouldn't be any delay, but you never know. This is apple we're talking about

Or, you know, one dongle and a USB hub/card reader. There are even dongles that have both usb and ethernet on them as well.

One reason why I like my Surface Book, is that it has a standard SD card reader. I did not want to deal with the loss of that port, and so in selecting a laptop replacement that was a must have. I'm saddened to see that Apple may drop that. Yes, a reader is an alliterative, but I'd rather not have a case of dongles and adapters because Apple had decried that we're in a wireless computer society now.

Too late for me. Got tired of waiting and made the switch to a surface pro. Can't imagine they'll release anything good enough to lure me back. Only regret is that I took so long to jump.

Wow, thinner Macbook Pro with flat keyboard, less ports and no SD card slot! Exactly what I've been waiting for!!

NOT

If this is truly the case, and I have a feeling it is, my current MBP will be my last Mac. I'm not spending $2.5k on a laptop to look cool, I need it to actually be useful, and good keyboard and full compliment of ports is an absolute necessity in a PRO machine.

Even better hardware couldn't tempt me to jump to Windows. My money is on a current gen MBP THE MOMENT THE NEW ONE'S OUT if this new one turns out to be a dud.

If new one is a dude I'll probably just stick with my current 15" (jeesh I forget which year...hmm better check is it still in warantee I think i have some of that screen muck they should replace).

Backwards compatibility is the issue. If they move from intel to ARM then old OS's and programs won't run. Nor will windows run thru bootcamp/parallels. Unless there is some magic solution to this that I don't know about. But I do occasionally need to do the odd thing in Windows so I need the option!

So you don't think that they will stick the latest processors etc into the current rMBP as well....

If you don't want the new one then get the updated old one. We would still have firewire and serial ports on the macbook pro if people like you decided what apple do.

Nooo, the Macbook-style keyboard is terrible, with almost no travel in the keys! This is supposed to be a Pro machine, I can't imagine programming or doing any serious work on the rubbish Macbook-style keyboard. Apple, what are you thinking...
It comes down to personal preference. As a long-time developer, I prefer the new Macbook style keyboard over the older style, and certainly more than mechanical keyboards. I find that I can type faster, more accurately, with less fatigue, for longer stretches of time on the new ones.

Does it take a while to get accustomed to a new keyboard? Absolutely, but once muscle memory kicks in, the difference in key travel is a welcomed change. At least for me.

Because I want HDMI, standard USB, headphone and SD card slot, instead of four USB-C that require dongles for pretty much everything??
