It's getting late. In fall we will have the A18 with all the buzz about the new gen neuronal engine. M3 will look outdated. Skipping the M3 means very low ipad sales this year. Strange.

I have this feeling that Apple is seriously considering delaying the new iPads until WWDC in June. And it will likely use iPadOS 17.5, the beta of which might (in my opinon) start in the beginning of April 2024.

This "software" delay is the stupidest thing I've ever heard frankly, doesn't make a lick of sense. Apple releases software updates the same day for tens of different iPhone and iPad models. Yet somehow, these new iPad models are so fundamentally different that it's taking them weeks to finish the software? Make it make sense.

Say it's delayed due to production issues, that's reasonable. But this software thing is straight bogus.

Are you a software engineer? Just checking.

We don't want rushed software. Do you?

Software to support new hardware is not something to mess around with.

This works out wonderfully. The M1 iPad Pros shipped in volume by mid-May 2021. This makes total sense. It'll be exactly 3 years later. I am so ready for these. It'll be worth the wait.
I'm in the same boat. I have an M1, but I'm not sure if I'm upgrading. What rumored features are doing it for you?

This software issue could be tied with the big changes in AI they claim for iOS18.

I know AI is a big thing... but part of me feels nervous regarding how fast and how hard so many companies are jumping into it. It sure feels like Apple is planning to dive right in... but I wonder of the implications for security, privacy...

OpenAI was working on the backings of ChatGPT since December 2015 (~8 years) before it hit the world like a fast-moving train. Since then, other companies have jumped into the mayhem. Meanwhile Apple has taken their time to plan and develop it in a way that fits best with their long-term strategies. Nobody is rushing this, and you don't have to worry about that.

It's hard enough to get excited about phone updates, but new iPads? We have three generations of iPad Pro 12.9 at the house, and absolutely can't tell any difference. Only thing I'm looking with some hope at is iOS 18...

It’s more the accessories for me. We’re likely to see significant updates and changes to the Pencil and Magic Keyboard

My plan is to order the new ones with my M1 iPad Pro still at my disposal to compare the quality of life improvements live. The biggest elements for me are battery life, weight, and display quality. You?

I really do wonder how they calculate someone's "success" rate, is it literally just based on their last rumor announcement? because it seems if it was based on every thing they said, Gurman would be well below 50%.
