Ok, now this is beginning to sound like pre-WWDC rumors where basically we were getting a full line-up of updates (Mac Mini, iMac, Mac Pro, MacBooks). We all know how that ended up...

Exactly. The only thing they are gonna launch is exactly the ONE thing that shouldn't be launched - the irrelevant iPad mini.

Everything else will just be a speed bump and nothing more than that.

saw this in costco and I believe the keyboard felt pretty cheap and plasticy - looked nice though. Hey just add an apple keyboard ! Hackintosh anyone.

Vizio's first attempt at PC manufacturing.

The reviews are saying a good first attempt

But they all despise the keyboard, and the trackpad

Seems like everything has been "confirmed" to be updated at the event except for the iMac, let's pray together folks, and hope that Jesus isn't up to anything better than helping out some Mac-fans! :D

I'd settle for imacs tomorrow, no event. :D

But seroiusly, if the rumors about the thinner iMac means that it will get the soldered-on RAM treatment, long live the Mini indeed (unless it also has soldered-on RAM, in which case I'll go hide in a corner and quietly weep)

Precisely. I've been waiting to replace my aging 2007-era mini with a top of the line iMac, primarily wanting to maximize CPU and memory for future-proofing. But if the new iMac is the rumored worst case (no optical drive, no 3.5" hard drive, soldered memory), then forget it. It'll be a choice between a refurb 2011 iMac or saving $$ with a 2012 mini.

If either one happens, that is...

The big question for me will be how the updated proc+intel 4000 perform in the heat department. Really disappointed how much fan spin up I get on the 2011 mac mni. I think a lot of other folks are as well.
Thinking I can sell my 2011 2.5 6630M with 16GB of RAM, Samsung 830+7200 RPM drive for the lower end 2012 model and just throw in a single 500GB SSD.
The intel 4000 should be as good as the 6630M for most people.

My MBA with the 4000 and video that it "likes" doesn't get very hot all all. it hates silverlight and fans will go into super nova / full speed on netflix - very odd. Skype video, other stuff that's h.264 not hot at all.

Hoping for a new Mini as I'd like to upgrade my current server to a new one. At the same time I'm not holding my breath that Apple is going to update everything at a single event. Seems way too much to hope to see an all new iPad and then take some of it's thunder away by releasing new Mac minis, new iMacs, a new Mac Pro and new MacBook Pro at a single event. Think we'll see new iPads and new MacBook Pros and that'll be it.

It's also rare for Apple to drop a bunch of new models of current products this time of year. Then again their cycles have changed from what they use to be.

I'm happy with my Mac Mini but would like USB 3.0. I have 6 USB 3.0 drives and would like to take advantage of that speed boost. But I just upgraded the HDD in my Mini to a SSD last week! I'm torn lol

Don't forget the new iTunes. Also, Apple will probably announce that they are bringing iTunes Store to India, Indonesia, South Korea, Russia and Turkey.

I personally don't care about the ODD, and with the disk I'm split between hoping it's 2.5 SSD or at least 7200 rpm and "big enough" (I'm kind of dreading the SSD prices, Apple still charges €504 on the Italian store for a 256 GB upgrade on the high-end 21.5" iMac... you can buy a 256 GB Crucial SSD from Amazon.it for €160!), but the soldered memory would be a huge deal breaker. Not only I'd rather add RAM as I go, but buying it from Apple is insane. They charge €300 for the the 16 GB upgrade, and you can get 32 GB (4x8 GB) for €122 from Amazon.it...
And all of that on a machine that's 500+ days old. Wonderful!

Move the SSD to the new Mac Mini. Put the old drive back in the old Mac Mini and sell it on eBay to eat up some of the cost.

Is anything not going to be updated at this rumoured event? This is alot to have riding on something that's not 100% yet.

I promise that the iPhone 5S will not be released at this event. I had a psychic check with Steve on that, so I'm comfortable that it is true.

As long as the iMac got a sizable spec bump and no more, I'd be first in line to order the top model.

Wow, remember when Apple's desktops were updated a couple of times a year, not once every couple of years?

Long live the Mini!

Bunch of people I know are switching from using just a MacBook to a Mini/iPad Combo (me included).

No PC company has come up with the same cool Nano computer as Apple. Some I know bought a Mini and use Windows on that....

i went from a mac min to a MBP + cinema display cause i needed mobility and flexibility

Unbelievable. Even the Mac Mini is set to see some lovin' from Apple, and the 2010 Mac Pro is STILL on the pay-no-mind list.

Unacceptable.

Apple will announce a new version of the Mac Mini at next week's rumored media event, alongside [a smaller] Retina MacBook Pro and the iPad mini.

I see where THIS is going!!

Edited: Fact!

A 630M will be nearly twice as fast. A 640M will be more than twice as fast. I'm more interested in the discrete.
Ooh, maybe it will be user upgradeable, too! :D
As an aside, who else hates it when people add the single word "Fact" as a way to add emphasis to an opinion or conjecture? I know I do.
I just treat it as an opinion I'm even less likely to agree with. Although, in this case, he is quoting an Apple rep.

Or Confirmed, when if you read the post there is absolutely no real confirmation at all.

Well actually if Apple offered a OS X ML iPad, I'd buy one in a heart beat.

As far as the Mac mini goes, I'm very happy with my 2011 mini though I do need to add some more memory to it. Safari has really been kind of slow lately.
