Jason Snell

Hope they get it right this time. Very interested in a new iPad.

The funniest thing is that Jason Snell, the biggest fanboy in the planet, was able to explain the previous live stream fiasco and spin it so Apple was not at fault.

Let's see what the tag line "it's been way too long" implies. What comes to mind is three products that fit, Mac mini, iMac, and definitely AppleTV,;but who knows?

It's going to be dedicated to the Mac itself.

All the keynotes these days are either about iOS portables or software.

The iMac, the Mini, the Pro, the Apple TV (yeah, I know), the Air etc. never get a look in anymore.

Most of the products on that list are long overdue an update, but none warrant a whole two hours, so they'll probably do the lot in one hit.

Also, ties in nicely with the release of the new Mac software, Yosemite.

I'm ready for the Spanish dub this time.

Don't forget ipod

It’s been way too long?

It’s been at the way same price for way too long too! It is certainly time to bring on the “Way more power. Way SMALLER size” don’t you think Timmy?

Let's see what the tag line "it's been way too long" implies.

I think it refers to the 50 years the plastic credit card with a magnetic stripe has been in use, now to be replaced by Apple Pay, which will open the door to socio-economic changes in how people pay for items in retail environments.

The "It's Been Way Too Long" tagline is still very curious to me. It suggests an admission that something on Apple's part is overdue. I really don't think this has anything to do with product lines, as there are no Apple products which are horribly out-of-date, certainly not even to the level of the old Mac Pro, unless you want to count the Cinema Display. But it seems unlikely they'd brand an event just for a monitor.

So I think they are alluding to something more fundamental to the company. What this is, that's the real curious part. Cook has always been more nostalgic for past Apple than Jobs was. When he first started making public comments after becoming full CEO, he called Macs by their old name, "Macintosh" a few times. Then we got that big retrospective site last year. More recently, they used the old rainbow logo in one of their commercials.

So whether he just has nostalgia, he thinks that tapping into Apple's history has brand power, or both, I think this event is going to be used in part to change something on a higher level about Apple. Perhaps Apple will start using the old rainbow logo on Macs again. Perhaps in their recent interest in fashion, they will start offering some Macs in trendy colors again. Perhaps they will announce that they'll be manufacturing Macs in America again. Whatever it is, I think it's a tie to Apple's past and Apple's future.

Well, they do get nostalgic sometimes. Remember the sneak peek of the new Mac Pro when Schiller called the Thunderbolt ports "Firewire"?

That graphic is very remenicent of the classic Apple logo. Perhaps the tag line indicates either the resurrection of a classic product line or otherwise some idea they toyed with long ago?

It's the presentations themselves that have been way too long. This one is going to be much shorter.

"Due to an unexpected sapphire shortage the new iPads will only have 1GB of RAM. One more thing: There will be a price increase of $50 on the old Mac Mini to pay for all the R&D going into this product line.

That is all."

Too long...

They're finally going to stream the iPhone announcement correctly.

It HAS been too long....

What the heck do they mean by "It's been way too long"? Are they coming out with a much shorter iPad? It's been too long that we've been stuck at iMac resolution of 2560x1440, but I doubt that's what they mean. It's been way too long since they updated the Mac Mini or the Thunderbolt Display, but I doubt that's it. Maybe, it's been too long that's Steve's been dead & they're bringing him back. IDK. And what's with that graphic anyway? What's it supposed to represent?

It's an cringe-worthy tag line. The marketing team should be fired. There is no upside to the perception that it creates. It just makes people think, "Yeah! It has been way too long since Apple [updated the iPad] [updated the iMac] [updated the Thunderbolt display]"...etc.

Whatever they announce, we will still be thinking about how they waited "too long" and also about any products needing updates that DIDN'T get them, so now we're even more disappointed.

Just a bad idea all around.

Yes, I was thinking that too. Apple Pay has the potential to really disrupt how we make payments.

Also it could be related to the Mac which was introduced in 1984 - this would be the 30th anniversary of the Mac.

I really want to know what they are going to show us! I guess I would love to be surprised. Not even sure it's possible for Apple to do secret development these days.

What could it mean?

The logo looks like a writing stylus that's writing on an Apple top. It's been way too long that Apple has prohibited writing as we normally do. Maybe iPad is catching up to Surface Pro in that respect.

"English who needs that, i'm never going to England"
-Homer Simpson

Lets just hope they have enough bandwidth so it won't crash every 2 minutes.

They probably won't need it. The amount of people watching this event is going to be much lower than the iphone 6 event in reality. I for one and most excited about a potential retina imac than I was about the iphone 6 (which we essentially knew everything about weeks before the announcement) or apple watch (since there's nothing in the world that will make me want to wear a watch), but that's just me personally.

Most people aren't as interested in macs and the market of ipads is fairly smaller than iphones.
