Dayum! Almost 2000 posts ... is this the largest thread in macrumors history?

BTW although a lot of people are pissed off (directly affected), upset of the b-slap tactics (everyone eventually except only supported in 2018 by such tactics) or those now considering a lateral move elsewhere or NOT to upgrade in 2018 .... seems like Samsung is having issues on the Note 8!

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Not Charging , Dead Battery, problems, Sprint Mobile *UPDATE

Nice apology distraction attempt but this is just classic fully drained battery condition on all rechargeable batteries and on the side of caution the charger won't attempt to charge since it thinks there's a fault. It can be manually revived though.

Updating a design doesn't = bad design in previous models.

Antenna-gate was originally started by YouTube videos of people gripping an iPhone 4 that had full bars displayed on-screen and then watching the bars all disappear. That wasn't the result of a bad antenna design. It was the result of Apple choosing a way of displaying signal strength that was way too generous in the upper half. Those "full bar" YouTube videos were really being made in weaker signal areas. Once Apple changed the formula to be stricter for how the bars were shown, nobody could make "full bars" drop to zero anymore. It could only be done with weak signals (that were now being accurately displayed). I think that was a case of Apple falling victim to the marketing trend of the time that put so much emphasis on the number of bars showing up on the phone. They made a bad initial choice in terms of how they displayed signal strength.

My worst lemon phone , 6 plus - 1GB ram was a total fail, also not very strong .

My 6S plus - brilliant cause of 2Gb ram and durable

Previous design was flawed , 6S fixed its biggest issues . I've never had a worse phone performance wise , 1GB ram in the 6 plus was horrible ....

I don't get the hate of people who like Apple. Come on, we all know no one or no thing is perfect. Companies exist to make profit - absolutely astounding how that's news for some here. I realize it takes very little effort to hate on Apple.

Doesn't excuse the fact that out of all the companies I've dealt with in my 32 years of life on this planet, Apple has been by far the best, most liberal with warranties, and one of the most positive experiences I've had with products.

Just seems funny how, on an Apple focused forum, we have so many haters of Apple. I guess when you're the best, it's popular to hate and focus on the flaws.

Just go through my post. You’re making out that Touch ID is no longer useful as it is an older method. Honestly, from what I been reading, I could say the same.

I did not say that Touch ID is no longer useful. When did i ever say, or imply, that? I get that some people preferred Touch ID, and some prefer prefer Face ID. And anyone that wants to give their opinion as to which is better, and why, is all cool. That kind of feedback is helpful, even to Apple that most likely listens to feedback.
But i take issue with making categorical statements like Face ID is FAIL. That is your opinion. A lot of people on here confuse their opinions with fact.

I can only speak for myself.
There is no stink as noxious as goodness tainted. Apple *was* a good company.
Ny problem is not with Apple; it is with the Apple executives destroying the ethical and moral culture of the company.
It is about THEM. It is not about the abstraction that is Apple.
We expect more fromApple than platitudes and manifest abuse of customers.

Yeah, I'll agree with this - a lot of companies today praise profit over everything at the expense of everything. Dell was almost destroyed because of this. The 1950s-1960s? customer and employee first mantra is all gone, it's about profit at all and any expense. That said Apple does an above average job (for now) imo. But yeah, executives that MUST have profit at all expense will ruin it all.

This really is not about the batteries or the battery life. At the end of the day, it's slowing your older phones down making the users think the phone needs replacing because of poor performance rather than a battery issue. My 6 Plus had all day battery for my usage after three years. I did an iOS update and that crippled the phone. There is no way my battery would have just shut the phone off. It ran all day for me before the update and afterward. But the phone became so slow, I upgraded to an iPhone 8 plus.

This is the point......If I knew it needed a $79 battery, I would have gotten that rather than the $800 replacement. Apple never warned me about it and I don't think I even needed a battery. But they got my $800. Score for Apple!

In NO way was Apple "protecting or helping me". I don't know how anyone could think that this was Apple doing me a favor. No way. Just no way.

Would you have a view on this situation ?

I don't see how your comment adds anything to the discussion ? Thanks for labelling so many of us haters...... feel free to contribute something to the discussion....

I've commented several times in this thread (I think? Maybe it was a different one... so many of these now). My wife's 6s+ was a victim of this. If her battery wasn't bad and if Apple hadn't refused to replace it, we both would probably be using 6s+ phones. I really liked my 6s+. I'm upset that Apple refused to replace my wife's 6s+ when it CLEARLY had a battery problem. But that was months ago and now we're both using 8+ phones.

$29 replacements is a great gesture - one, as I pointed out earlier, should have been done the moment they started having problems with the 6s battery (now they admit 6s, 6s+, 7, 7+ had the problem).

As someone who has been trying to keep up with the massive amount of text this is generating, my observation was how the "haters" as you describe, are having a field day with this.

You are correct . Sadly greed as taken over Apple. My biggest regret this that they are to even true ux design these days, profit wins out

Apple will make this right when they seek out the people who made this decision and remove them from the company. This problem is a symptom of deeper issues. We need to focus on the root of the evil.

Passing out stock holders profits to atone for their behavior will not cut it.

Personal Responsibility. Yeah, it's out of fashion.

My bad on my reply. You are correct, you have contributed . I've spent too much time on this today and my reply to you was out of order .....

No worries at all :) That's what the internet is for - discord back and forth. If we were all of the same opinion this forum would be boring as heck. No worries! Thanks!

Hope your new years goes well!

Exactly, this is correct. They refused us as well because it was "green" --- if it is green they will refuse. So if you have a phone that reboots and has half a day life (my wife's 6s+), and it is green, you're SOL even if you're waving $80 in Apple's face.

Unless they're maliciously playing ignorant their battery testing is flawed. Wonder if they're just testing voltage and not amperage and internal resistance.

Anyhow, it's good to see for once you're siding with consumers and not big corp.

To all the "victims" THINGS WEAR OUT! Get used to it. So Apple tried to alleviate the problem and everybody cried fowl. Tires wear out, rechargeable batteries wear out. The temperature of the Lithium Ion batteries in the Chevy Volt are highly regulated to extend life, apparently the ones in the Leaf are not, which ones are going to crap out first? Apple could have made their phones 50% thicker and put in much bigger batteries, but everybody would complain. Apple took out an obsolete mini pin jack to make room for more useful components and everybody complains.

Most of these so called haters are still Apple customers, and as such have every right to voice their opinions on this discussion board. Problem is everyone speaking out against this issue gets labeled by a few as haters.

Apple has a whole defense team and a public relations department to defend them already. Customers have no one but themselves to speak for them... Why some of you feel the need to berate others is beyond me. Try some compassion!

lol, the lengths people go to defend Apple.

This issue has nothing to do with battery wear. EVERYONE knows batteries wear. Everyone knew this since they were two years old and the battery in their favorite toy crapped out and needed replacing. And stop with the auto crap.

Making a mention of the hate is berating? Alrighty. As one of the victims I think I have compassion! I think Apple is in the wrong here, that said, I still am amazed at all the anti-apple behavior. Just making an observation. You're free to have your opinion. I'll try to be more compassionate :).
