It will have less ports but only because it's dropping MagSafe and HDMI connectors.
If they remove ports like a separate charging port and the HDMI connectors, I will add the Macbook Pro to the growing list of Apple products that are no longer of interest to me. This already accounts for over HALF their product range.

It's a shame. I really like my older Apple products, but I refuse to upgrade to something less functional.

Ok on the headphone jack:
1. USB/lightning audio is a possibility
2. WiFi audio (lossless codecs are possible) is a possibility.

From a 'superiority' viewpoint the audio jack is already redundant technically. It's just a matter of convenience and ubiquity. That's no small thing but I would definitely not claim superiority.
The headphone jack will remain, they are not looking to replace it. Think of it as wired networking vs wireless - If they can fit it on, whether it be in the current design or upcoming designs, they will keep it. Rule out lightning ports on MacBooks now, it is ridiculous and won't happen. They do not see wired Lightning as the replacement for the wired 3.5mm.

Same for you. Read the linked post.
I'm well aware of the desktop class card benchmarks for the Vulkan API. They have been out quite a while now. Article you link is month and a half old.

What in the WORLD they have to do with our current discussion is another question entirely.

Did you really just cherry-pick the one desktop success AMD has had lately and proffer that as some sort of mobile gpu relevance??

They'll all be replaced by USB C and Thunderbolt 3 ports (along with the headphone jack) which I don't mind. However, they should not remove the SD card slot as that is important for a lot of Pro users.

Stop complaining about the Mac Pro, we'll probably will see it this year.
We've already seen that it exists in macOS, and has 10 USB C (including 6 TB3) ports.

What about the freaking Mini?
Apple knows this computer has a lot of fans and they refuse to keep it updated. It's bizarre
It is due a refresh this year but it could happen early next year as this fall will be busy. A 2017 refresh will also allow them to use Kaby Lake.

You never know, they could be planning a major redesign of the mini. Although, admittedly I wouldn't be surprised if something like that doesn't happen given Tim Cooks priorities.

Article reads MBP, I guess it should mean rMBP??
No the MacBook Pro cant be referred to as the retina MacBook Pro forever. It made sense when the line existed alongside the non-retina model, but it doesn't really make sense now. Especially since all available models will be retina with the introduction of the new models.

Can we expect the MacBook pros to cost the same as they are now?
No probably $200 more expensive for now.

I think it is pretty safe to say that for the vast majority of users, a USB C port will be almost useless. The only purpose it will serve is a place to plug in an adaptor. If Apple do this on a "Pro" machine, it will be (yet another) huge mistake.

Please come in colours. I want a new macbook pro and I'd love a rose gold pro. I like colour okay and I'm tired of this boring colour I've had for over six years... come on give us colours!

LG display on with Apple... Hmm..

Anyone else feeling the same way?

(Hint: 2012 Retina Macbook Pro LG display ghosting crisis)

With the big push for USB-C and Thunderbolt Apple should take charge and work with Nvidia/AMD to develop specialized GPU interface for external GPU in an external monitor.

Wow, cool stuff. I'm bummed about the AMD graphics chips on the iMac though - we normally always have mobile variants of the graphics chips (significantly slower) and Nvidia just switched their mobile variants to full fledged desktop chips...I was really holding out hope for a iMac with a GTX-1070 option in it.

This is going to be an expensive Holiday for me:

I think I'd like to have this picture on my card - that is great, thanks for the laugh.

MBP top of the line and 5K display. It's going to be expensive end of the year for me.
It's about time.
I hope MacPro is update too. If not, that will be a joke.

I really don't see this happening, not if Thunderbolt 3 will be included, as, that requires the Intel processor that has just been released, perhaps we will see other changes, but, TB3 won't be in laptops b4 next year.

Huh? There are currently 20+ laptops (many under $1,000) on the market with Thunderbolt 3.

Sell AMD if you want but the day Apple stops offering an Intel version I am done.

EDIT: Okay I'm an idiot and didn't read that it was for the GPU. I jumped to the conclusion that they'd offer AMD CPU option. Whew!
Same. Their graphics are great, but their new Zen cpu's are decent and should have a great future.

Just glad to see what may be in the pipeline. They need a 32GB RAM option for the 15". Then I'll start taking Apple seriously again.
