I've seen a lot of big companies replace their standard blackberry's with the 5C, my company included.

Doesn't really make sense as it's a pretty well prices/specced offering for enterprises who want to deploy lots.

The 5c was a decent phone. It just was not a good deal at the price point Apple released it at. If Apple would have released a 8gb version unlocked at $350, a 16gb at $450 (or contract free or even a credit) to begin with I think it would have been a big hit. I know one person who got a 5c and she really only got it because she needed a phone right then and the Sprint store she went to didn't have an 5s in stock.

Great phone!

Most of young and some professionals i know how a 5c, and I bought one each for my brother and mum, and they love it. Better form factor than the other iPhones, comfy curvy TOUGH case (no expensive external protective case required), selection of colours, responsive with iOS 8.1 (unlike the ageing 4S), excellent camera etc.

What's not to like?

Meanwhile, EVERY 5s I see is scratched to death.

Macrumors loves its clickbait sensationalized pre-drawn-conclusion articles.

But, I already expected the 5c to go out of production next year as there simply won't be any room left to price it. Its value has already hit "$0" on contract, and there is no where to go from there.

I am kind of hopeful that Apple keeps a tight reign on the iPhone lineup. I really do not want to see the utter messiness of iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6+, iPhone 6s+ at confusing $99, $199, $199, and $299 price points.

Personally what I think Apple should do is make the 6s and 6s+ at $199 and $299, and take the A8 chip and camera from the old 6 and stick it in the 5c shell with a new line of colors, and price that at $0 and $99 for 8 or 16 GB.

There is still a demand for the 4" iPhone, and Apple will need to fill that demand through at least 2016.

Good idea... lets try to forget about this moment in history when Apple tried to repackage the iPhone 5 in a different body and re-brand it.

Funny how we regard the 5C as a flop, next to the 5S..

But the 6+ as a success, next to the 6.

The sales ratios are the same for each.

If I'm not mistaken, they made a lot more 5c's than the did 6+'s. 5c was considered a "flop" in stock-to-sales as it was forecasted to be sell higher, where I don't think they made the same number of 6+ devices (wasn't there a shortage after the release?)...

I had a 5c, I know lots of people who do. It's a great device. My only complaint was the color options and the plastic. I think they should've gone the iPod Touch metallic + colors route. Oh well!

I'd assume with the way things are going, determined by Apple Pay, that a phone without touch ID would be a non-starter, putting touch ID in a 5c would be pointless as it would bring it too close in line with the flagship model, so getting rid is the only real option.

Personally I'd like to see the 4 inch form adopted into a 3 model 6s range, 4, 4.7 and 5.5.

It may be that Apple wants the entire line to feature "Apple Pay" and/ or fingerprint access. That may be the reason for retiring the older models this time around

I didn't think the 5C was a bad phone. My brother has one and he likes it.

I still don't get why some think it was a bad phone. Fine if someone wants to argue to was too expensive but saying it's a bad phone is basically saying the iPhone 5 was a bad phone. And what I remember from the iPhone forum is the majority of people hating on the phone where ones who didn't own it and had no plans to buy it. 5c owners were happy with their purchase.

The reason that I got my 5C is that I just needed an iPhone for a year or until I got a 6, but that didn't happen. But now I'm at least keeping this phone until the 6S, but does anyone think that it can last until the 7? I also love the fact that I've dropped this on concrete (facedown) several times, wothiut sustaining damage. Albeit, I do have a tempered glass screen protector, but still impressive.

I think the bigger question is... what happens to the 4" screen? Are they going to keep it going? I know a lot of people prefer it.

I'm one of them :p. I'd love the iPhone 6S to come as a 4 inch Model as well :) they're already making a 4.7 and a 5.5 so it can't hurt to have a smaller size. I also know quite a few others who find 4 inches to be the ideal size for them.

The 5S could be repackaged into a plastic model for the low end, the 6S 4 inch would be the mid range model and the 6S 4.7 and 6S + would be th top and models. That would make everyone happy.

If a tree fell in the forest and no one was there to hear it, does it make a sound?

I don't know why an 8gb model is all that's available now. That's not enough space.

The 16gb 5c was my first iPhone, and it's been a great phone.

Its crazy to me that the 5C was considered a flop!! I sold phones at my past job (high volume RadioShack, yes some of their stores are quite profitable ;)) and by far from November of 2013 till May or June of 2014 until the 5S started dropping in price, the 5C was easily the most popular phone. The most popular customer for the 5C was def the youngsters 12-17 and the older folks (first smart phone) 50-60 age range! The 5C was a good phone and to most people the 5S wasnt worth the extra $150 bucks.

The 5C wasn't a flop either. It outsold many other phones In the winter quarter this year.

I think many people came to a store, attracted by the low price of a 5c, then saw how much more they got with the 5s for only a bit more money, and bought a 5s. If these people hadn't come to the store because of the low price of the 5c, they might not have bought _any_ iPhone. The fact alone that Apple offered a cheap phone sold many expensive phones.

It's a nice little phone. My 70 year old dad has one and likes it. It's more than enough than what he needs from a smartphone.

That said, I've never really understood the point of it. I guess he saved 100 bucks on it, but in thei length of a single 2 year contract, that really isn't a lot of money.

I ended up getting 5cs for my wife, my mom, and my dad. In each case they were coming from a 3GS. In each case they are not very technically inclined. And they all said the same thing, I don't want to spend any money. If it's free then okay. In the us with the 2 year contract they also didn't understand the true cost of free. In any case they are all happy with their phones. me, I upgraded to the 5s and now the 6. I am the geek of the family.

I actually liked the plastic form factor from a daily use perspective. If they had the same features as the 5S at the time they were released I would have picked it over the aluminum frame.
