Lol the CDC just announced that they are not recommending booster shots. It just hit the news.

Apple is probably just assuming that a very high % of their employees are vaccinated so a mandate isn’t neccisary. The assumption would be different for say Home Depot or General Motors.

We would still be waiting for the vaccine if it wasn’t for Trump regardless of his motivation.

Mutations are generally weaker.
I don’t know why you think the whole world depended on Trump to get to the 15 or so vaccins we have right now, many of them not even from the US. But if that helps you sleep…

Mutations can be weaker or stronger, like the delta variant.

Such as?

Making lives harder for behavior sounds pretty fascist.
Is it fascist to require people to either get vaccinated or tested before entering a bar, disco or retirement home, so they don’t infect others and potentially get people killed?

I don’t know, what’s your definition of fascist?

The unvaccinated keep me awake not trump. But I’m sure he had nothing to do with the giant money fire lit under their asses, and red tape cut to make this happen. It’s on the level of the Manhattan project, or the Apollo Program. Two other island america initiatives.

Delta mutated too close to original strain to make a difference. I’m speaking in terms of decades. Again, I raise the point that it’s a matter of when not if you get Covid.

Uninfected unvaccinated individuals pose no danger to anyone. Be they Vaccinated or unvaccinated.
That’s the equivalent of stating the sky is blue. But nvaccinated people can get infected, carry and spread the virus more easily and unknowingly. Haven’t we been through this the last 18 months?

Who is setting the requirement?

Larger companies with more complex employee footprints have done it. It’s not a big deal to implement.
I was just theorizing Apple's decision. Whatever Apple does, it's for their bottom line, and apparently Apple sees that they don't want to do a mandate. Like I said, when Apple sees that the benefit outweighs the risk, I'm sure the policy will change.

Companies that have pushed a mandate definitely see that the benefit outweighs the risks. It's as simple as that.

Apple doesn't see it that way, for now.

Uninfected? If no one ever got infected, COVID wouldn't be an issue in the first place.

Infected unvaccinated people selfishly clog up hospitals, risking everyone else who needs care. Infected unvaccinated people put people who can't get vaccinated at greater risk, because they can't have such protection. And infected unvaccinated people put vaccinated people at greater risk because nothing is 100%.

Then become vaccinated like me and 76% of the rest of the USA.

I doubt a company with a huge legal team like Apple would want to mandate vaccinations, simply because of the potential litigations. When a company mandates something for an employee to take/use, if something bad happen (no matter how unlikely), the company can be liable, especially if what happen can make the employee disabled or have some permanent issue. It's a simple risk vs benefit analysis, and looks like it's Too huge of a risk for a big company like Apple.

Remember that we are talking about Apple. Anything that Apple does is only for one thing, maximize shareholders' value. In this case, looks like Apple see the risk is too great for their shareholders.

There might be a time when Apple sees the risk is low enough, and the money they make from having vaccinated employees outweigh the risks. When that happens, you can see a change in policy. Until then, I'm not surprised at Apple's current stance.

No politics here, simple risk vs benefit for Apple's bottom line.
Some points:
- companies in NYC are already mandating vaccinations and attestations for employees (seems like these companies are protected by law)
- apple isn’t the only publicly traded for profit company that seeks to maximize revenue. But the way these companies maximize revenue is to produce products and services that customers want to buy
- there is no simple risk vs benefit. Every company has to be careful such that with return to office situations people don’t get sick and shutter departments and services. There is nothing simple about this.

Sadly it never ends with antivaxx crowd. They still wear a seat belt when driving, and helmets on motorcycles- yet will never understand that vaccination keeps you OUT of hospital/ICU even if you test positive. Even unvaccinated nurses complain about having to treat hospitals full of unvaccinated patients. Talk about insane logic.

I won't reply after this so unvaxx go ahead and flame away, I already know I'm a sheep or whatever else you'd like to call me. :)

54.4% of the USA is vaccinated. Anyone who is able but unwilling to get vaccinated puts you and the rest of the USA, no matter their vaccination status, at a greater risk of some kind or another.

I’m fine with that. The reality is that we are all going to get it at some point.

uninfected people pose no risk

the 74% number was a poster in this thread claiming at least one jab.

Oh boy!

Looks like a safe approach politically but really a risky one if you weigh in the health risks considering that more than 40% people are still not fully vaccinated in CA and there are 12,000 new cases each day.
Good thing, since the FDA admitted yesterday the vax is causing the variants. Glad to hear there are still many people that decided to wait, since it was an emergency use vax with zero liability to the companies making them.

So, this whole health department and FDA.. is a joke?

I would rather people live a long healthier life then worrying about if it’s approved or not.
LOL… the FDA approves sugared drinks for children and cigarettes for adults. But yeah, health is their number one priority.

Time has already told. The science is settled. Just admit that you're more scared of a shot than is a toddler who needs his lollipop. Choosing not to get vaccinated is simply selfishness.
Settled? You are the type of person that would’ve argued against hand washing. Science is never settled. We do not know everything, so there is always room for discovery, revision and further testing.

You’re right that mutations are generally weaker, but a mutation that is weaker will die out quickly. If a mutation that makes the virus stronger appears, it will become the dominant strain.

Please stop with that ********. Trump is the reason we are in this whole ****ing mess. Him and sycophant lackeys. Everything from flat out denial of the seriousness of this virus causing hundreds of thousands to die, to blatent race baiting, to dismantling the viral studies Obama put into place. Had we a President who didn't suggest injecting us with bleach, taking asinine unapproved snake oil (hydroxichloriquine) & horse dewormer we wouldn't be in as bad a place as we are now.

That’s flat out wrong. A weaker virus that is more contagious while causing less or no symptoms will spread faster and potentially become the dominant strain. A strong virus that kills its host will die out faster.

I’m not anti vax but I can I understand the apprehension. Covid now has over a 99.9% survival rate and the majority of the US now has some level of exposure or immunity. My wife had it and I took care of her daily and I never got sick. Will I get the vax? Not sure. I don’t get the yearly flu vax and no one shamed me for that. And they have very similar mortality rates. It seems that since Trump people are looking for new ways to be divisive.

I applaud Apple.
