...I still think it is TOO early
Seems like an opinion.
to open stores but in this tim cook era Apple is more interested in keeping the board happy adding to its trillion dollar value.
Consumerism and profits take higher priority than peoples health..
Absolutely. Tim would have this no other way or alternatively Apple is opening to provide much needed services to its customers as allowed by law.

Can't wait to step over the bodies of the Apple Store employees in the mall to get the very latest iPhone.

We have to get the economy going again, so why not do so in the most cruel and irresponsible way possible? After all, cases and mortality are only climbing in Cali. What are some deceased Apple Store employees when compared to healthy Apple Stock?

As a shareholder I would like to see Apple use its huge cash reserves to wait longer before drawing employees and customers into the malls and the Apple Stores!
Stepping over the bodies? No hyperbole there. As a shareholder I want Apple to follow whatever guidelines are in place. They will do the right thing.

I agree. I'm incensed that the leaders of over 200 countries, 50 US states, thousands of world, federal, and state agencies, and tens of thousands of doctors and scientists have conspired together to create this hoax.

Ummm..you’re tryna be factious, but this is how politics works. Never letting a tragedy go to waste. It’s normal and natural for governments to overhype fear for the purposes of seizing power.

It doesn’t take a widespread coordinated effort by independent governments to spread and overhype irrational fear. It just takes a incentives by each government to do so, and they each have that perverse incentive.

It’s the responsibly of the citizen to be skeptical, question, and resist government overreach. It’s sad so few people understand that.
[automerge]1589031938[/automerge]
Why? What’s the rush?

Oh.....$$$$

or to help provide and maintain the products and services that support social distancing...
[automerge]1589032221[/automerge]
And the 85 refrigerated tractor trailers brought into NYC to handle morgue overflow deaths was also a hoax, right?

View attachment 913316

it’s not the virus or the deaths that are a hoax. The hoax is the notion that stripping basic individual freedoms, humanity, self-worth, dignity, and plunging our economy is the antidote.

Please understand that America is set up for the 1% to exploit the rest 99%. The 1% want the economy to be reopened and they couldn’t care less about the 99% endangering their lives to enrich the 1%. It’s the way of America.
That sounds like an CNN talking point. I’m not the 1%. Those out there protesting aren’t the 1%. We’re also not stupid and don’t deny science. Hell, I left a career working as a Porsche salesperson and went back to school, finished my degree in Biology/Chemistry, nailed my MCAT, and got myself into medical school. I am far from a science denier. I, like millions of others, have a basic understanding that you cannot keep things locked down until we feel it’s safe for everyone. I’m so sick of the either or group of thinkers-either we keep it locked down draconian style or we completely open everything up. There is a way to reopen areas of the economy location by location. Not every state and city will go the way of New York. That must be shocking to some of the more astute “keep it locked down!” folks.

No one is being forced to go to the Apple store if you don't feel safe, only a few are opening, you would think by some of the comments that every store is opening .

Apple stores in tourist destination cities are so freaking crowded and a third of the people are employees. So limiting the number of customers in the store is a good thing.

Perfect example of distorting data with charts. One, deaths and cases can never go down. What you need to plot is new deaths and new cases.

Second, diseases spread exponentially. Therefore, the Y-axis needs to be a logarithmic scale. In fact, the images show you specifically chose the wrong scale, since a log scale is available.

The combination of those two presentation mistakes serves to visually minimize any trends. If you properly present the data, it would be obvious that COVID is indeed slowing down.
Yes it’s slowing down. I wonder why that is. I’m sure it has nothing to do with the recent stay at home orders, and it won’t speed up again when things reopen.

My memory might be deceiving me, but I think those kinda people invaded the forum after the iPhone came out. Then they started crying about everything they were offended by being political and demanded a special forum be created to accommodate their sensitivities. It's kinda funny to watch some completely mundane articles end up having the comments shoved into PRSI because of it. They are the most sensitive snowflakes ever and keep crying and whining about the smallest things.

Hey snowflakes, Apple stores are private property and the owner of said property wants you to wear a mask when you enter. You might think their reasoning is unfounded. You might think you can protest it and demand they accomodate your desires, but they're a business and they don't have to. Besides I thought you guys were pro-business and were big fans of businesses being left to do whatever they wanted! Right? Businesses are practically god! Why are you complaining all of the sudden?
Yup. The tipping point was when Apple products became status symbols, rather than simply the preferred tool for the job. That attracted a vastly different type of consumer.

I remember last year someone here was complaining that Apple was wasting time writing software for creative people that he was never going to use, and and put emphasis on that point by stating he'd rather his kids die in the army than become artists.

You have not lost any freedom. I’m sorry if your self worth is determined by an infectious disease, that sounds strange. I am sorry that you’ve somehow lost dignity. Again seems strange. And I’m sorry that for you, money is worth more than health and keeping families safe.

Good. Local people’s can decide for themselves when to get back to work. If you don’t like that it’s fine because you and Karen will be staying inside for as long as you please. Old people or health compromised people should be staying inside too. There’s no statistical reason people under 40 should still be welded into their homes.

I can’t make a head or a tail about your post. People can be compromised in any age. There are cases of children dying. There is also a case of blood clotting in gingers and toes of many children.

Also your post implies people under 40 all go out and people over 40 stay home. The majority of businesses and the managers are run by people over 40 so your ideas are all over the place. Please leave this conversation to experts. Be a responsible citizen before you get yourself or someone else killed with these strange thoughts.

It’s just wishful thinking. Magical thinking. So many people want this to just be over. And they will believe whatever they can to make themselves feel better. And to make it worse, of course it’s now being politicized by the usual anti-science forces in our society. The internet has done a real disservice to the quality of public discourse. We no longer rely on experts for our information, we really on yokels with YouTube accounts who speak into echo chambers.

You're hyperventilating. Relax. Apple will do the right thing.

FWIW, 70+/30+ people “reacted” to those posts, but the majority used reactions that showed they *didn’t* like those posts.

I wish MacRumors followed the more democratic reddit or ArsTechnica model, where upvotes increase the approval number and downvotes decrease it. Anything deep enough into the negatives is not shown by default. Instead they’ve got this Facebook style “reaction” system that gives trolls more visibility than they should have.

I think MacRumors should ban all users that comment the pandemic is a hoax. There is a limit for trolling. It just not something that should be approved. Report all comments.

To all of you crying “too soon”. The world will move on without you. We will survive and prosper.

When ur mother or someone from your family dies u can say that to them.

I bet Tim Cook and his family are safe and aren't going anywhere near an Apple Store the next days.

The media really has you scared doesn’t it?

The destruction to our way of life is outweighing the deadliness of the disease. Apple is taking a reasonable, measured approach to opening its stores, as are the majority of businesses that are opening. We will be fine. They are doing the right thing.

Don’t let fear rule your life. Take necessary and prudent precautions. Stop listening to the fear mongers. Breathe.

Democratic or mob?

Take a moment to think about that. Hearing those that you adamantly disagree with can be enlightening. You may still disagree, but you advance nevertheless. Done put yourself in a bubble and only hear those that support your beliefs. Grow.

Excellent advice. Silence people who have an opinion that doesn't fit your narrative... Have you ever heard of the first amendment or do you live in China, North Korea, Russia, etc.. Thankfully MacRumors is an American based website which eliminates the possibility of what you suggest...
