Please let it be true :apple: I need a new desktop as I have sole m windows box and my mac mini I'll have the money by the end of the week for a new computer but I think I will wait for the media event on the 2nd.

I'm just guessing of course but I was thinking perhaps the imac may get it eventually. Then again it is a little gimmicky to add the cost for watching a movie from time to time. Perhaps having the ability to stream 3D movies through appletv is more realistic?
I was thinking about this with the whole Sandy Bridge push, it would make sense if they were making the 3D move now...

I just got the 27in iMac 2 months ago for Christmas and now they are releasing a newer model 3-4 months later? Not surprised, I highly doubt that the newer models will be that significant that I would regret not waiting for the models. Also it's not like the current iMac I have isn't suitable enough for the projects I have coming down the road, I'm glad I pick this Mac up while I had the chance. No loss here for me...

RAM is user-upgradeable. There is even an instruction on the Apple's website for it. Updating the HDD may void the Apple Care as you must take the computer apart to access it... Still, if you build the old HDD back prior to sending in the computer, they will never know :)

Incorrect, RAM and hard drives were user upgradeable in the first iteration of 15" unibodies (when they had that removable panel on the bottom), they are not user replaceable now. One of my friends works at the local Apple Sales/Service/Repair and I have to have her install everything for me. If it even looks like you may have maybe, POSSIBLY opened the laptop at any time they'll refuse service (ie: any toolmarks on the screws, etc, etc).

2011 will be a great year! Looking forward to:

• iPhone 5
• iPad 2
• iOS 5
• Xcode 4
• OSX Lion
• New iMac and/or new MBP's

:apple:

No Joke!!! I already have my money in savings for the iPhone 5 and am currently saving up for the iMac. I can wait to see what iOS 5 brings and OSX Lion. Hopefully they bring live wallpapers and an enhanced notification system. Only problem though is that I won't be able to afford the 21.5" iMac till like January of next year and I hope they keep the screen size or if the upgrade the screen size keep the price the same... 2011 will be an exciting year!!! :apple: :)

Is it just me or did everyone forget about the rumors of touchscreen iMacs...
Maybe they are introducing a 22 inch touch screen iMac and refreshing the other iMacs...

It's been a grand time for MacRumors today. :D Honestly, they should be updating all the Macs at once (except for Air), becuase of all this technology they could be using. Sandy Bridge, USB 3.0., etc.

timing?

I just bought a 27" i7Q iMac and love it but... this puppy is going back to apple online if they announce a new iMac this week. I have until March 3rd until the 14 days are up. This is a beautiful machine and much more than I need but this release sounds like it could be a major upgrade...game changer. (if they follow the same rumored MacBook Pro specs.) I already got stuck with a G5 PPC 30 days before Intels were announced.

Man, yo timing is toe up

i really hope the imac update comes soon, just saved up enough to buy one, so tempted to just grab one, but i shall wait for the update. Really hoping they don't discontinue the 27".

Are the prices normally the same as the old ranges?

GRRRRR.......

I just received my apps income. And I wanna buy iMac now but I'm afraid a new one will be released soon.

My HD just died on my late 2009 Mini.... come on iMac refresh! Perfect excuse to upgrade to the iMac.

I've been using a G5 Mac Pro at work for the past 3.5 years, but it is quite a few years old. Still, I am in love with the Mac and have finally decided get my own at home for personal use. I'm going with an iMac, but want to wait for the next refresh. It will be hard to hold off, though, as I am getting quite impatient! I'm excited to finally upgrade my 7 year old PC.

What about the prices?
I am planing to buy the cheapest version (now it is 21.5-inch: 3.06GHz i3).

When they upgrade all models, will the prices remain the same?
It is my first Mac so I dont know how this things were in the past.

They usually stay at the relatively same points, however when the feature sets change drastically that doesn't really mean much.

You should get what you need when you need it and not wait if possible...that;s my strategy anyway!
