1. i figure they will go all out, hence perfect time to introduce mountain lion
and (introduction is not the same as a release for those who don't know)
2. i suspect at least three macs to be updated if not all, cause alot of them are out of date
3. in terms of macbook pro the display is fine as is has anyone ever had a problem with the display? i know people want better but has anyone ever had a major issue with the display, unlikely,
i would prefer quad core over retina anyday, retina doesn't do much, so you can see a bit clearer who cares i prefer performance, although i suspect the 13' won't get quad core, maybe on the high end 13' im hoping for that miracle
I'd be happy without a cd drive and anyone who wants old tech feel free to use adaptors
4. they will definately use usb 3.0 think about it how else will you charge your ipod, ipad and other apple devices, so you figure they must at least still use usb 3.0 but then the macbooks won't be so special anymore since most new laptops at those prices have at least 1 usb 3.0, so im definately counting on usb 3.0
dual thunderbolt ports, i doubt it if thunderbolt is as fast as it claims 1 should be sufice, plus im sure those use speed ports would add to the price, im pretty confident they will only have 1
5. in terms of release remeber usually there are pics and shipment dates floating around the net when they are released, maybe they will be announced but not released, i figure July to be a safe bet, introduced in June released in July hopefully with mountain lion installed on it
6. also i hope they still have bootcamp support with ML, thats it, any comments or rebuttles feel free to post

Interesting thoughts. Re 3: actually, the displays are one reason I never went Mac before even though I was really intrigued and wanted to like Macs. The current hi res 15" and 17" matte are pretty good. Everything else is only for people who surf the web and do some basic productivity task. For photo editing, audio recording software and even large spreadsheets I find that the regular MacBook Pros don't offer enough real estate. And I really hope that the retina displays don't make this worse/offer no improvement - especially if the high res 15 and 17 inch go away with that.

The other issue that keeps PC users out is the gap between the Mini and the Mac Pro. The mini's specs don't quite cut it. The Mac Pro is too expensive. And the iMacs as all-in-one machines with a not so great screens don't fill that gap for people who are looking for powerful machines for the applications I mentioned. So it'll be very interesting to see what Apple will do for non-Apple aficionados this time - if anything. Would be a great opportunity given the ludicrous looking Win 8 pre-release.

the first release of "new" macs products are always faulty. wait the second gen.

1. 15inch MBA (MBPs get discontinued)

A laptop is more than just screen size just as a car is more than just its engine displacement. Such a move would alienate a sizable chunk of its user base that need additional ports, faster processor, and option of a decent video card, none of which are a feature of the MBA because of its slim design. If MBP sales were down over sequential quarters then you might be right, but MBP sales are not lagging. In fact the 13" MBP is Apple's best selling Mac -- not just laptop, but every other Mac model.

Not so great screens? The one thing the iMac has is very nice displays

And sometimes features from the previous design that were removed in the first-gen of the new design would be reinstated in the second-gen. For example, FW800 removed in the 2008 13" aluminum MacBook but came back in the 2009 13" MacBook Pro and the backlit keyboard removed in the 2010 MacBook Air but came back in the 2011 MacBook Air.

Everyone yells at me when I say this but...

I still think that the newer/slimmer laptop is just going to be a badass MacBook Air while the MacBook Pro line gets an even bigger performance boost. The Pro will further distinguish itself with an optical drive, graphics card, ethernet port etc etc...

Where have you been...

Unfortunately 9to5Mac just posted the spec sheet for a new 13" MacBook Pro that looks like a mere spec bump(a poor one at that) with no retina display. Please tell me that's just an entry level MacBook Pro, and Apple post Steve Jobs isn't getting lazy, and too complacent. :(

Waiting to buy my new Macbook Pro or Macbook Air. I hope Mac Pro gets updated this time. I feel bad for Mac Pro users. They havent really had any updates since 2010. Apple should not forget its professional users :)

I think Apple will drop the pro and air and name all their laptops MacBook, Just imagine 11,13,15 & 17 screen size, ive bridge i7 undervolted all the way upto quad core i7, 128,256 & 512GB SSD options only no hdd, minimum 4GB ram upto 16GB, retina displays for all of them, USB 3.0, no optical drives, two thunderbolt ports each, for 13 inch and up SD slot, FireWire & gigabit Ethernet port. And obviously osx mountain lion. Apple if you do this you can take over the world we are counting on you :)

My guess is that this is a "Retina Display" only announcement. Developing for ultra-high resolution screens would have the greatest impact on developers. Hence the WWDC announcement.

My guess:
MBA
MBP
iMac
Display refresh

You heard it here first. ;)

imac glass needs to pro matt screen.

only 2 things i can say are needed firstly is an imac that has a MUCH highen end glass screen. i have a pair of CRAZAL glassses i wear, it is time apple
use materal if this calaber or greater on it flagship products.
U can litterally se yourself well in the reflection of all the imac, that is totally
crazy in such a masterpeice of a apple product!

on if they are going to use retina display on the mbp 13" please make a MATT option as i had to get the 15" just to have that. made zero sence at all, as 13.5
is the perfect size. anyone who owns a geniune non glass macbook knows just how much better it indeed is!

lastly the retina display on the ipad3 when playing video is sub par to my mbp.
i am hoping these new retina displays with have hihers end cards and any internal flaws in recreating video will be addressed! i return my ipad 3 after watching a youtube video played in it!

Like I've already mentioned nearly a month ago... the official logo for this years WWDC told us everything we needed to know.

Retina displays for the whole Mac line up.

I think both the Mac Mini and the Mac Pro will be updated. But if I had to choose I'd simply go with the Mac Pro solely because of the length the line has gone without a refresh. I mean... I think that's just common sense.

With that said... as far as these so called "accessories" go... I'm thinking that is code for new (possibly optional?) retina displays. (For the Mac Mini and Mac Pro etc.)

Ivy Bridge, iOS 6, Mountain Lion and Retina displays are certain. The Apple TV is up there as well. What each will look like... is far too difficult to guess at this point.

Apple is the type of company that thrives on innovation. The synergy they bring is unparalled... although over the years MANY have attempted to copy. Even Microsofts new "Smart Glass" is just another example of that. (Although it does a bit more than Airplay - but it's SUPPOSED to being that it's had much time to catch up).

I like Tim Cook. I really do. I hope that someone slips him a few Red Bulls before he goes on stage though as his style could use a bit more "pep". It's tough to mimic the presence that Steve had... although... Tim has done a solid job so far.

I'd like to see Apple jump into the gaming console business. They have such quality products and lead in so many tech categories... I think software developers would jump at the chance to develop for them.

^ That last bit was SOLELY my opinion. I love my Xbox 360... but with new generation consoles just around the corner... it'd be interesting to see what Apple could toss into the fray.
;)

iPhones, iPod touch, iPads are doing well thanks to Game Centre. Its already kicking some serious ass. I dont think taht it will release any game consoles.

Probably been said but my two cents...

1. a single MacBook product line will emerge (if they make the pro a similar form factor to the air then they can just call them all MacBooks with a variety if price points/specs)
2. iMac updated
3. Mac Mini updated
4. Mac Pro updated

Thoughts?
