That would be so cool. And the best keynote ever!

I don't want to denounce Tim just yet, but his Keynote performance so far been pretty mediocre. Relying on Eddy Cue and the gang to show off features is fine for the "small upgrades," but so far Tim hasn't really contributed to the Keynotes. The guy seems to be in some sort of limbo between excitement and boredom where the "future" holds the next great thing.

I really hope he surprises me this Keynote, otherwise I think this will be the last one I watch.

9to5Mac arguing that the Mac mini is the most likely to see an update given that just-released Ivy Bridge chips that could also be appearing in a 13-inch MacBook Pro would be suitable for a Mac mini refresh.

Let's just hope that's not true and Apple does the right thing here.

My guess is that this is a "Retina Display" only announcement. Developing for ultra-high resolution screens would have the greatest impact on developers. Hence the WWDC announcement.

My guess:
MBA
MBP
iMac
Display refresh

You heard it here first. ;)

Not likely since the leaked spec sheet of the MBP 13" doesn't even mention rentina display.

I don't want retina on everything. Sucks up way too much gpu and (on laptops) battery life. And honestly, most of the macs are close enough considering the distance at which you use them. I've never once wanted a higher res display on my iMac.

The margin on a MBP is more than on a MBA. Apple will make more money selling 1000 MBP's than 1000 MBA's, so why discontinue the more profitable line? Even if every single 13" MBP customer purchased a 13" MBA instead, they're going to come out worse off...

Well, it looks like I was wrong.

This is yet another fake rumour Mac Rumors has copied from 9to5mac, if you read the 9to5mac story they basically state they have NO idea if the Mac Pro or the Mac Mini will be updated! But don't think it will be the Mac Pro because it hasn't been updated for so long now???:

Apple is also planning to refresh a fourth piece of their Mac line, and this leaves the Mac mini and the Mac Pro. We are currently unsure whether or not the Mac Pro or Mac mini will be the fourth Mac updated at the conference, but both Macs are due for a refresh, especially the Mac Pro. The Mac Pro has not seen an update in a couple of years, and as Apple’s Pro desktop, has not even seen a refresh with Apple’s next-generation Thunderbolt I/O system. On the other hand, the Mac mini was updated last July with improved internals. While Intel does make new Ivy Bridge processors that would fit into a Mac mini, the Mac Pro uses a different chip technology altogether. Apple not updating the Mac Pro for sometime leads us to believe that it may stay un-updated, so perhaps a new Mac mini is in the cards for WWDC.

Seriously? You are going to re-report a report that states the Mac Pro WON'T be updated because it hasn't been updated!!!!!!!
Common sense for the win is somewhat lacking in this story... Let not all forget the FACT Intel have ALREADY launched the new Xeon processors.

I call BS to it anyway, Apple like to stagger their updates, what else are they going to show throughout the year otherwise?

But come on Mac Rumors, stop copying bullcrap stores from 9to5 that are just guess work and start REPORTING. Post your own news breaks first. Otherwise the site is worthless and we may as well just read 9to5mac....

holding out for my first shiny new MBP :D

greatest computer purchase i ever made is my 13 inch MBP

----------

I will buy a MacBook air when it gets quad core. Which I assume is next year.

lol at everyone wanting quad-core...lol 90% of folks will never tap even half the potential of a quad core typing emails and looking at porn..lol if you are not doing video editing music production or playing 60fps 3d games you dont need quad core.. but yes its nice to talk about it and say you have it..

It would make more sense to release these tomorrow as they indicated in the D10 interview ("what's being released next week?"). There is no way that in an hour and a half, they could go over iOS 6 and Mountain Lion AND introduce new hardware.

Then it will be 2 hours or 2.5 hours. When was there ever a set time for a keynote presentation?

This seems a bit overly ambitious. When was the last time that Apple unveiled five new Macs AND previewed and/or shipped TWO OS updates for two different platforms at one single event?

I completely agree that the timing is right for a lot of refreshes, but it's a lot to shake a stick at. I'm putting my money on new MacBooks (Air and Pro alike), and a new Mac Pro.

I think it will be updated, but . . I suppose one could argue it has been so long because they have no intention of updating it, or maybe just every 2 years now. In any case, we should know soon.

It's also possible that they release hardware the day of the keynote but don't talk about it in the presentation. Or update multiple hardware models but only talk about some of them, they've done that in the past when some models have had updated form factor or major chip updates and others were speed bumps.

I'd be perfectly happy to get a "silent" Mac Pro update the day of the keynote.

I don't know. They sure have a long time to get ready for this, and some of it could just be a quick mention with details on the store site.

+1

This is a WWDC and not a WWHardwareC.
In saying that we all know the updates to the Mac line have been pretty thin of recent. I am sure there is something being cooked up in Ive's lab or another lab at Apple HQ.

The only question is will they use WWDC to talk about this or just stick to iOS 6 + Mountain Lion talk and have a separate Mac keynote later in the year. Or just quietly specbump and save the big Mac announcements for 2013.

Just so many questions.

When have you ever seen any keynote going 2 hours long? They might as well introduce a new iWork while they're at it...

It's going to be (most likely) 10 things for iOS, 10 things for Mountain Lion, as per usual. I'm pretty sure they have learned that people's attention span and energy doesn't go past 90 mins.

Apple 2009 WWDC Keynote was two hours long.
And 2010 was just Eight minutes shorter.
But 2011 was an hour and 58 minutes (this was iCloud, Mac OSX Lion, and iOS5).

So I think you should re-evaluate your time prediction.

I just think it's common sense, if your going to make a story claiming several Macs are going to be update, you would normally think the one that's been waiting the longest would be in the updates no? Especially considering Intel launched the new Xeons now.

Meh, as I said I think the whole story is BS, Apple aren't going to update several Macs at once plus iOS plus launch the new iPhone plus OSX all at once. They will stagger them throughout the financial year. Otherwise all you will get for the rest of the year is a new iPad and iPod's.

Whoa, who said anything about launching, let alone previewing, a new iPhone? I seriously doubt that happens at WWDC...

This is how it will go down hardware wise me thinks:

Updated 11 and 13 in ivy bridge mba with retina displays.
Updated 15 in ivy bridge mbp with retina display, thinner unibody enclosure.
13 in mbp is discontinued.
Updated ivy bridge imac with retina displays.
Updated ivy bridge mac mini.
No mac pro announcements.

That wouldn't surprise me at all if they went that route

Based on all the leaks we are getting, people think we will get an announcement at WWDC because where theirs smoke there is fire.

or not . . . . we won't know till it gets there. There is a history of less than people hope for or what there are rumors for.
