These really can sell out even with presumably more than ample time to stock up.
Regular consumers who don't check rumor sites may be unaware of Monday's preorder however think of all the developers who need or want one. I have to think a certain portion of watch orders were Devs who needed a physical device when the simulator wasn't cutting it.
I also imagine a lot of Devs passed on the watch simply because their apps don't make sense on a small screen.
Apple TV however to me is something almost every game Dev will want and (hopefully) all other types as well such as productivity and photo and video editing (yeah there's always AirPlay) to get their apps out ASAP. There's untapped potential and one of the last chances (presumably) to be among the first in an Apple App Store.
Here's hoping they've stocked up quite a bit because plenty of people are going to want to use these as stocking stuffers as well. And let's hope there's not a ridiculous back order like we often see with iPhones when they launch.
PS. Since people are also posting additional discussion outside of preorder concerns...
I too hate the lack of 4K. I recently seen an article debating if they can do some kind of 4K playback since iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2 can edit 4K with the recent update. The article I read mentioned it wouldn't be 60 fps or anything but it could be possible.
Also I really hate the fact Devs can't make games supporting the game controller as the primary input. I mean if they have to rethink how an app and its restrictions are displayed within the App Store then so be it. Make it very prominent it will require a controller. UGH. Or they could have just included a controller and marked up the price $50 and called it a day.
I'd love to see real gaming come to Apple TV. I think they've set the precedent that all other devices aside from iPhone and iPad will use previous gen's CPU and with that in mind didn't one site say last years chip in the iPad was as powerful as a PS3? With that and metal and whatever GPU they're using I wonder how feasible it would be to get older games like battlefield 2 bad company or battlefield 3 running on an Apple TV?
