A loss for them. I am not going to wait months for a TV show to air here in europe. They can have my money if they want it, but apparently they don't.

I couldn't agree more. If a series is on iTunes I buy it, if it's not I torrent it. If the producers want my money they need to have it available here (I'm in the UK) as soon as it's available in America. Like you said, how do they not understand that?!?

:apple:TV needs to add more support for video sites. A Showtime or HBO channel would be a major game changer and huge surprise. It'll probably never happen though:(

The cable cord needs to be cut!

HBO is requiring a cable service log-in to use HBOGo on any device, and CNN requires a cable service log-in to stream the CNN live feed to an iPad. I suspect the only way Apple would get the licensing to offer a comprehensive TV content package that includes new shows would be if it's tied to your cable service.

anyone know if this version has been jailbroken?

I don't want to lose the PLEX client for the ATV2.

Still no folder support for movies or tv show seasons. Very annoying.

Otherwise, I am happy to see purchasing return with streaming which needs to be extended into movies.

Not all shows

A lot of my purchased shows, not the least of which are all six seasons of Always Sunny, aren't to be found here. Looks like it might be FX/Fox related? My HBO and NBC shows are there, but nothing else (also missing Sons of Anarchy, The League, Louie CK, Walking Dead and whatever else I bought but can't remember)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Very curious to the jailbreak question too.... Hope it can be:) please someone confirm!!!!

This should knock around a TB or two off of my backup servers.

Being an early adopter who dropped 300 bucks on a 1st-gen Apple TV, it feels like a slight betrayal to see these updates (Netflix, Vimeo, etc.) available only to the users who paid $100 for a 2nd-gen ATV... I always told people that one of the (many) reasons iPods prevailed over other MP3 players was that Apple kep supporting/updating them long after you purchased it, but now I'm feeling the opposite with my Apple TV

I am betting it is hardware limitations.

I am betting it is hardware limitations.

Could be, but sounds unlikely; I mean, we can stream HD movies from our local-network computers, and stream HD trailers from the internet, and YouTube works just fine, etc, so I can't quite see why Netflix or Vimeo wouldn't work...

I all want is to be able to sort my movies by date added. It seems so simple, I have over 800 movies and I want to see the recent additions.

In my iTunes (on mac) I can right click on the headings in Date Added and insert a "date added" column and sort by that. Does this feature not actually work like it seems to?

This isn't an iPod, where the software was hardly ever updated and when it was the OS on an old iPod classic was pretty bare bones.

To complain though that your 4+ year old original Apple TV is not getting the same software upgrades as the most recent release of the device is about as silly as someone with a 4+ year old original iPhone complaining about not getting iOS 5.

Missing Shows

I'm hoping that some of the missing shows are just due to this being a new feature and perhaps they are still getting the files prepared. Unless there are contractual issues with some shows/networks.

Excellent news

Comes just at the time I was having a few problems streaming TV shows from my Mac to AppleTV.
Able to access old 30 Rocks from 3 years ago which were backed up long ago! Ace!
Unfortunately it doesn't want to let me access everything just yet, like my current season pass for Breaking Bad only shows the first 2 episodes and recaps and not yesterday's which I've already downloaded and watched on my Mac.
Hopefully that will be fixed soon but still great stuff. This is a very powerful feature which makes watching stuff from the iTunes store way easier!

Amazon

It would be even better to see Amazon streaming support, particularly the free stuff included with Prime. Paying anything but a small flat rate for content seems absurd to me, and $3 for a TV episode is outrageous. I'd gladly watch ads if I could get a huge content library for free on my Apple TV.

Community season 2 - 20 episodes only. Thanks Apple, I didnt want to watch the exceptional paintball 2-parter anyway. Or the hilarious flashback episode. Also missing is every season of The Simpsons I purchased. Clicking on Fringe to see if they have all 3 seasons I purchased and it results in nothing more than CANT ACCESS ITUNES STORE every single time. Not putting their best foot forward. Also missing are my daughter's two seasons of Clone Wars. Not good, Apple. Not good at all.

Ditto, I also couldn't agree more. There are certain programmes I want to buy, I want to legally give the programme makers my money, but they don't want to take it. So I just download a torrent of it.

Their loss.

Great!!! I just discovered netflix streaming (lack of movie selection is downer) but my Apple TV is getting regular use now for movies and not just music or movies I have ripped! Can't wait to try out these other new features.

It would be great to have Amazon support simply to have a real alternative to the insanely stupid prices Apple charges. I wanted to get into the show Supernatural, so I checked yesterday and season one is on sale from Apple for 30 bucks. It's on sale at Amazon for 14. Amazon also has 1.99 HD movies of the day, and they tend to be hit movies. Whereas Apple has a 1.99 HD movies of the week, and it's more often than not a piece of crap.

So, only one of my purchases are showing up.

I just downloaded 3 episodes of The Fresh Beat Band for the kids on my iPad2 and transferred the purchases to my Mac. Not showing up on ATV.

Me too, except I bought an ATV2 on release and like both systems for what they do. It seems now though with iCloud and the ability to stream previously purchased content instead of having to store it locally, I may be getting rid of the ATV1.

Hopefully this also fixes the bug where the ATV suddenly can't find any content your library which requires either restarting iTunes or disabling, then re-enabling Home Sharing from the ATV to see any content.

HERE! HERE! Please. I love the calls from my kids while I am at work. "Dad, I can't watch {insert show here} on the Apple TV. It says "no content".

They may be doing some work along those lines - none of my Stargate SG-1 seasons are showing up. Babylon 5 is showing up but when i select it I get the "iTunes store is unavailable" message. Others (both standard definition and HD) are showing up. All were purchased with the same apple ID. So, I'm assuming there's some switch or something they have to do in the cloud to make all the content available.

Hopefully...

anyone else missing a lot of shows from their purchased history?

Yes, definitely. Seems very half-baked to me.

Yep, I'm missing everything I purchased from Comedy Central. I wonder if they are still working out licensing with Viacom.

Guessing it isn't Apple that is preventing you from doing so, but the studios. A strange example? We downloaded all of season 1 of iCarly (nickelodeon show, so Viacom). The only one I can re-download, however, is a random episode from one of the "Volume 1" type compilations.

Yes, for example it shows I have only the SD pilot of 'Breaking Bad' available. I purchased seasons 1-3 in HD on this account last month when they were on sale and none of them are showing.

Do you have the "Redownload HD content when available" option checked (from iTunes)?

Agreed. Give me all the options possible.
