Funny expectations of this wildly successful have always been poor both here and out with the analysts....
I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you said. The sole reason why the watch became so popular is because the series 1 got super affordable at $179-$199.

I was saying I dont think the price increase will harm this product - in fact with the new ECG functions I think sales will accelerate ...

As Boomers age there will be a huge market for this ECG and Fall Notification. Young people will still buy because it's technology and older people will enter the market more and more for these features.

I'm a 46yo who was diagnosed with myotonic dystrophy, which affects your heart and leads to falls. I see this as a possible life-saver, but I'm not sure I can afford $400 unless I can get health insurance to kick in.

While not a smart watch wearer (I like my mechanical Omega) I am very impressed, their push for health monitoring is admirable.

I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the fall detection feature. If I'm doing an active sport like snowboarding and I happen to fall, will I have to tap my watch every time? I don't want my watch calling my emergency contact for every fall if I happen to not get back up within the allotted minute.
i'm sure it will have an on/off feature

dont rely on a smart watch for your health problems IMO

it's a nifty feature but I wouldn't count on it over other things such as a pacemaker if youre bradycardic with falls, etc

My mother with heart problems had fainted and fallen. She was on the floor for hours before she got help. I got her a medic alert bracelet but she wouldn’t wear it. I would have definitely purchased this for her plus a iphone se.

But she will wear an apple watch, charge it every night and have to own an Iphone. Let's break down today's gimmicks. If a person is prone to dangerous falls, are you really going to rely on an Apple Watch to accurately detect that fall and call 911, for your own safety you should stick to the medical alert bracelet.

For anyone that falls and does not lose consciousness, a simple flip phone allows you to call 911.

EKG, you are lucky if the Apple Watch can accurately count your steps, FDA approval, well the lobbying money was well spent.

At least Tim did not bring out the Coke machine partnership for this Apple Watch presentation.

Yes this will probably save 1 person's life in America by New Year's Eve (and the headlines here will be legendary) and I will be glad for that person but for 99.9 percent of users these are gimmicks, oh and for Jon Gruber who gets a near heart attack any time Tim walks on stage.

I will spend $499 and above when the Watch does not need an Iphone, has more than 1 day of battery life, has a Siri that performs as well as Star Trek technology, helps to further make tech disappear, and on and on for things that can actually take me further away from screens and actually . . .

Well who cares, a fully independent watch will only happen when Iphone sales crater, years away, unless a worthy competitor emerges.

I am pleased to hear of your interest. I am not a doc. However, I just read an article from 2015 stating that there’s only a 50% correlation between a one lead and 12 lead ECG.

I am very concerned with false positives. My wife had a false positive for pulmonary hypertension. It turned out the test that they used was only reliable if the patient was sick with heart disease to begin with. It made for a month of tension as her mother had pulmonary hypertension and it is a very scary disease.

Thus I am unsure about a watch that may have a high probability of giving a false positive.

So let me see if I have this right. Prices start at $399 for GPS and $499 for GPS/LTE. That will be 40mm aluminum.

If you want a SS GPS/LTE 44mm, that might be $699 or $599?

Many times, I've worn my watch accidently at night. It's at 30% in the morning. It charges very quickly. After I get to work, I charge it for 90 minutes (8:00am to 9:30am), and it's back to 100%.
Taking it off for 90 minutes every day is a bit much for me, I am rarely in one place for more than 30 minutes so I guess I will just have to go without the sleep monitoring etc and take it off and charge it at night
