What a joke. Same look (I really wanted the square). Same crap battery. No new sensors. No reason to upgrade at all much less buy over a 6. What have they been doing for the last year? My .02 only. BTW, I love my 6, but was expecting so much more from the 7. Was ready to upgrade based on leaks

I am an Apple Fan Boy of the first persuasion but there is nothing here to pull me off my AW4/Cellular. I will, however, spring for the new iPAD MINI.

thank goodness it doesn't look like the renderings that were floating around the internet. I like the round edges and hope they keep them around. As for the watch itself, it can only be better than last year's version. I definitely think I'm going to get one!

Personally, I’m excited about this, as I didn’t think a watch should look like a tablet. Maybe that’s their plan in the future or maybe they (really successfully!) trolled us, but this is a beautiful looking watch, and that’s what I really wanted.

yes, that could happen. but more to the point, I don't want my phone with me, just more gadgets to deal with. same for longer runs, hikes, cross country skiing, etc. for longer endurance activities, Apple Watch misses the mark. Garmin, suunto, blah blah many others with GPS battery life lasting 20+ hours is the way to go.
Indeed, moving to a limited or even single purpose dedicated device yields the opportunity to optimize for best performance. A dedicate GPS tracking watch can do between 10-24 hours (for the best models) GPS tracking performance.

This the most minor upgrade they have EVER done on the Apple Watch.

- no new features
- no improved battery life
- mild tweak to design
- display 1mm bigger, I mean really
- no faster it looks like as if it was 20% OMG would they tell us.

I’m on a 5 and I’m not sure I can be bothered to upgrade. Very poor and lacklustre Apple. You can release it soon there will be no tsunami of purchases for this upgrade this year.

I’m a little bit disappointed, but at the same time I was concerned about how comfortable a square watch would be. So it’s a happy medium. The on screen keyboard is such a simple addition, but it’s going to make a big impact.
I don’t understand comments like this. If you are concerned go and try on one of millions watches with flat edges designed and you will see that it makes no difference in the end. Apple didn’t invent flat edges lol.

Better dust resistance, glass durability, faster charging etc. are all new features. Therefore, your statement is verifiably false.

I mentioned it in another thread: A Rolex looks like a Rolex. The design is kind of iconic. It has been slightly changed in time, keeping the looks of a Rolex (the models we identify as "Rolex" then...)
Now replace "Rolex" by "Apple Watch"...

Apple just did it the right way.
I disagree. The Apple Watch is distinctive, but not iconic. The iPhone is by far a more popular and recognizable device, and yet Apple had no problem going to flat edges with the iPhone 12 after several years of rounded edges.

I like Apple Watch for its utility, not its form. I initially did not like the idea of a flat edge Apple Watch, but after seeing renders of what it could look like, I preferred its design over the current bulbous form (as long as they can ensure the flat edges won’t cut dig into the skin).

My 4 has a very scratched screen, and it has never registered stair climbing (despite being sent to Apple for diagnostics and being told it was to specifications). I will upgrade, maybe with the idea it’s just a one year watch, depending on what comes with the 8.

I wonder when they will set the pre-orders.. seems like it might be a while.
