Ignore the obvious Troll comments

It is absolutely nauseating to see so many people troll this topic. They cannot let us, Apple fans, enjoy a new software/hardware release without their need to stomp all over it. I have never gone to an Android site to say anything bad about a device I don't own or wish to own.

Has the whole Internet devolved to the lowest level of conversation? Where is common civility? Why is it always mine is better than yours, just like in Kindergarten?

Nobody asks you to comment if you do not own an Apple device or never intend to buy one. Your negative comments reinforce my affinity to Apple. Go troll somewhere else where the sun doesn't shine.

I hope Quick Reply comes to iOS. I use Messages on my Mac, but I message more on my iPhone and iPad, so it'll be nice if we get that feature on our iOS devices too.

Yeah, I was really surprised they didnt show it after demoing it on OS X. (Or is it "OSX" now?)

This isn't "Android Jelly Bean stuff"......these are logical tasks/features implemented in different ways by two different OSes on their own update/design timetables.

Apple seems to implement and design as if they are the only tech company out there. It doesn't matter what another company has done.

This obsession with being "first" is really overdone....

Oh, the irony with those "it is implemented in different ways" is really funny

I've been an Android user and I hated the experience. From what I've seen today Apple has borrowed some ideas from Android and I believe has done it better (and definitely prettier). Just because Android might have done something doesn't make it off limits to Apple doing and doing it better.

Agreed. I am an Android and iOS user and I really like how Apple is rethinking some of the ideas that have already been out there and make them usable. I could care less about the graphic design of it all. Frankly, I hated the weird mix of design in iOS 6. That aside, the functionality of it all looks very promising.

Love that they added AirDrop and I loved Craig's comment about going around the room and bumping your phones together...priceless.

Eh - maybe I missed something - but I see it as this

I'm looking at photos on my screen WITH someone - they want one - we bump - they have it

vs emailing it or whatsapping it or texting.

Once you're not "in bump range" - then airdrop isn't anything exciting vs emailing, whatsapping or texting

Other than what? That it goes into a photostream maybe?

It was definitely an amusing "knock" on Bumping/Samsung - but pretty hollow.

Those pull down menu look awfully like the ones from Samsung Touchwiz... I wonder if there will be another around of legal salvos?

so when you celebrate christmas, you just get a preview of what you would be getting but won't actually get til a few months later?

You can get it now if you want...I wouldn't recommend it, though. Especially if you have only one iOS device.

I wouldnt board that ship just yet, Im 24 and this UI is too bubbly and immature.

If you're a man, how are you supposed to flirt with a woman with this phone?

Everything's going well, you get a call, and when you pull out your phone you suddenly look like a 7yo girl wearing a Hello Kitty dress.

Is this supposed to be a subtle, mind control style form of population control?

No Address Book

I have only seen a couple of screen shots but not seeing an address book (contacts) icon on the screen. Anybody see one. I use contacts all the time.

sweet, scrolling wallpaper, folders with more icon, a settings quick screen, access to notifications from the lock screen.

Android will never be able to catch up with those features.

Point and Match to Apple, :)

Take that android fanboys!

People are going to love it. People are also going to hate it.

By its peak time, among the 7 billion people on earth, there will be only at most 150 million using iOS 7, while at the same time 800 million using Android and 1.5 billion using Windows. So, in fact, at least 97% of the world population just don't care about it.

Unimpressive. I had confidence in whatever Johnny would come up with, but so far my faith looks misplaced. Maybe it will somehow redeem itself in person.

  • They copied the font, general look from Android ICS or earlier even.
  • They copied the overlay look from Windows Vista.
  • Copied Safari tab summary view form Windows Vista Aero windows view
  • Animated weather copied from HTC sense for Android.
  • Non-discoverable gestures from the edge copied from Microsoft Windows 8. Looks like it may not work if you have a case wrapping the edge.

* False
* False
* False
* False - animated weather? really?
* False - off screen gestures have been part of iOS jailbreak tweaks since 1.4.

Looks like it might not work with a case? what kind of troll garbage is that? you have no idea, whatsoever.

Very cute... it's like a little funfetti explosion for your iPhone. Can't wait until I can download it in the fall. At least I'll have plenty of time to play with my dollies and have little tea parties before then.

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.

Seriously? Jony Ive, you need to go find your man parts, reattach them, and try again.

I can hear all the jokes already with the change from bars. "So how many balls do you have?"

Is that what that was on the top of the screen ?

the bars look better ... It give a more "cellular" range to you can clearly see the different. since their all different heights...

now... it just looks plan, unless each gets bigger with better cellular strength.
