I could care less about who copied who. iOS 7 looks amazing and I'm excited. Apple is the company that everyone loves to hate. They always will be. Fall can't come soon enough!

It seems silly to piss all over a design you haven't even looked at in person yet. Until you've used it, I can't see the justification for all the vitriol here. The comments about copying are also pathetic and hilarious. Design trends tend to span entire industries. Car manufacturers have moved away from the 1970s boxy look...smartphone OS's are moving toward a flat, clean look. So what?

Apple was unquestionably a major leader in a smartphone revolution that changed the tech industry. Now the innovation has slowed down (due to the maturation of the products), but they're doing their best to refine the experience every year. Some of that will be "keeping up with the Joneses". Blah blah, so what. The same is true of MS and Google. It's all incremental now, but only Apple seems to be the target of all this misplaced vitriol. I think there are some deeper reasons for that. And in many cases it has a lot to do with those "assumptions" I made.

apple is getting flack because once again.. they kept using the term "revolutionary".. when the features they showcased HAVE BEEN in previous os before.. a lot have been borrowed from android and some from windows and palm..

BUT i agree with your quote.. only that you could replace apple with samsung or other android manufacturer in other previous posts.. it seems to me.. it's viewed as perfectly ok to bash android when even the slightest thing has similarities to the iphone.. but when the tables are turned.. a lot of those same people can't take the comments when it's apple that's doing the "borrowing"..

to them.. apple never takes inspiration from others.. to them.. apple came up with these ideas all by themselves... and that's why you are now getting these responses from people who actually realize and accept that apple is just now catching up.

Clock Icon

Anyone else notice the clock icon says 9:41 and the actual time on the phone is 9:41? Could this mean that icon will live update? Wouldn't really be useful but that would be kinda cool to finally have a live updating icon. The current iOS icon says 10:15 so it's different none-the-less...

No. So that we can discuss iOS and iPhone without getting bogged down in arguments about another OS. It. is. seriously. tiresome. I came here to talk about iOS 7 and almost 100% of the discussion is just trolling and flame wars. The mods really should do something.

Please mods, do something.

It is ruining your forums.

Apple fanboys:

If Samsung even copied a gradient style from the iPhone, there would be lawsuits and threads of you guys cheering.

When Apple borrows heavily from Android/Windows/and the jailbreak community, "who cares? Apple FTW! Suck it haterzz!"

Do you see a problem there?

----------

Just perfect for you then. :)

Lol. Proud of yourself, huh?

I like the look of it. I like some of the icons. While I'm GLAD they got rid of the horrible Game Center style, I don't like the icon. I will probably confuse it with Photos.

Overall, looks cleaner. I'll reserve full judgement, as always, until I have it and use it.

Wow, finally full multitasking?! SMH, this has been in Android for at least a year if not longer.

On the other hand the fact that iOS 7 will learn your app usage patterns is an interesting concept. Apple had a tough task here, how to update the OS without alienating the long-term users by changing everything. I am excited to see how this all plays out on a new iPhone, although for now I plan on keeping my Note II.

It won't be anything like multi-window true multitasking on Android / WinRT, unfortunately.

I'm late to the party and I know this has got to have been mentioned.

Looking at the pictures all I can think of is Android. I know there's not a super whole lot that you can change but still looks like Android. I wish they would do more with the OS as far as the iPad is concerned. Maybe they will but they have all that space that could be used.

Glad to get the toggles and a few other things but I'm not sure how I feel about it.

To me it looks like the UI would look better with the white iPhone vs the black one

Who cares?

Seriously, who cares? Apple's iPhone was the impetus behind this entire revolution in the tech industry that saw phones becoming more talked-about than traditional computers. They did it again with the iPad. And you're complaining that they've made similar UI design choices to Android in their seventh iteration? Who the h*** cares?

go check my previous posts.. then come back to me with a response...

and weren't you the one who made all those immature silly assumptions just a few posts back? yea.. just checked.. it was you... ha.. on second thought.. i don't want to interact with you.

Not really. If youre going to complain about people having different opinions, either wall yourself up in your basement or ignore them.

There's having different opinions and there's trolling and/or being douchey about it.

PS- I don't have a basement.

...and android fanboys don't do this? I really don't understand your point. Would you like to explain it?

The best part of Apple announcements is the opportunity to update my ignore list on MR. I imagine with a few key phrases ("where's the innovation" or "copied Android") you could even automate the process.

I think it looks absolutely brilliant. Without doubt one of the finest introductions I've ever seen from Apple. BRAVO!!!! :):):)

Blablablabla end of this year...blablablalabla next year....blablablabla macbookair no retina display...blablablablabla no new iphone....blablablabla no new ipad blablablabla thanks for coming bye bye......

Certainly interesting, waiting for the rest of the presentation before I pass judgement. I am laughing at the mock-up thread and reading the reactions here, it's like opposite day here. Yesterday in the mock-up thread: This looks like crap, who designed this, an 8 year old?!. Today when it is revealed: OMG, it is amazing, iI just jizzed in my pants!!!!!! Classic MacRumors.

Dont you apple fan boys hold yourself in higher esteem than fandroids though?

first i'm not an apple fan boy, but thanks for the insult.

Second, it doesn't matter who holds what in higher esteem, and your question is as ridiculous as your original statement. by acting as if only apple fan boys do one thing or the other, you show your bias. in other words, you're no better than the people who you claim you've figured out so well.

Best idea I've seen all day.
