i dont like the stupid background of control center and i think that the weather app was copied from yahoo, other than that everything's awesome. i had been waiting a long time for these features.

Apple uses Yahoo's weather app as default. It HAD to be like Yahoo's stand alone weather app. What I don't understand is, when your app is being used as default, why come out with something that is already existing unless the OS provides capabilities of switching default apps?!

during the keynote unveiling of iOS 7, was there not a clip showing the screen with icons and the phone moving, giving the icons almost a 3d look over the background picture as the phone moved?

I haven't heard it mentioned yet in these breakdowns but I swear I saw that in the keynote.

They talked abut that in the keynote (twice). The icons move to allow you to peak around them to see the picture based on how you move the phone. It was pretty slick.

I have to say I hate most of the new icons. I have this glorious retina display and now you are getting rid of the amazing hd icons. That being said the actual apps look far better than they were.

Honestly, I was not disappointed. I think that apple took the steps that they needed to, and executed well. I wish that Ive would have taken the stage, and I would have liked an Apple TV update, but who knows, maybe he just sucks at public presentations, and perhaps they didn't have the time for the Apple TV. It looks like they've listened to a lot of what we wanted, and the new UI looks great.

He is actually a great public speaker. He spoke at Jobs Apple funeral event. Perhaps, he just doesn't want to give presentations.

You can look around the icons and see the background image. They use the phone sensors to create a parallax effect.

You did see it.

Ok, I didnt always have the volume on the hear what was being said. Thats pretty cool.

Now, I wonder if we will ever get a multitasking/background option when watching streaming video like from MLB at bat when a call or email comes in, the video keeps playing in the background, so when you click back it doesnt have to reload.

He explained the multitasking in some detail during the presentation, you might want to watch it. A keyboard API was not mentioned on the SDK slide.

It is silly to claim the changes are Android rip-offs and pretty telling to call them "not as robust".

I do not want to watch two hours of sales talk to get an answer to a simple question. Based on your defensive answer, my guess is we still do not have true multitasking.

Also, tell me what of the UI changes is not "borrowed" from Android? The "multitasking" view panel? Or the "new" Control Center? Yes, both have been in the stock Android OS for over a year now.

People cried for change, now they are crying that it's here. I like it so far, will hold final judgement for when I get to use it.
Nice to see Apple have listened and implemented some jalbreak tweaks we have wanted for a long time. My only let down so far from what I've seen is no SMS quick reply still, would have preferred that to quick access to settings personally. Was hoping for quick reply. Had to restore after an issue and am now back to stock iOS, really missing BiteSMS.

i hate people.

People say they want apple to do something more, something different. People want Apple to take hints or concepts from the Jailbreak community.

People then mock, gasp and bellow in anger when Apple actually do just that.

People. I hate them.

This... Only because when Apple brings the features from jailbreak community over to iOS, people only hate them, because Apple didn't do it right.. They modify the visual, strip out features, not keep them.

Thats why we jailbreak in the first place.

Weather App - on Apple's website, the Weather app does have the Y! logo in the bottom right corner.. so its more than likely that Yahoo! had a heads up with the new iOS design.. especially since their app they just released uses the same design cues. :)

Trolls - Notice that its the same talking point over and over from different accounts? Ie :Looks like fisher price, it looks like android.. etc?

Whatever the design, it had to change. I guess you can't draw wonders on a 3" 2D screen, so it's globally OK.

Now what will matter is the new fonctionalities, unfortunately:
- no wifi hard-drive option
- no unlocking modem option for all users
- no facetime over 3G for all users
- iMessage still sucks
- Siri seems to still be a Beta crap while Google Search is so great at correctly and instantly understanding what is said
- Maps seems to be the same crap, fortunately there's Google Maps

AAPL can last a bit longer with an iPhone5S granted they significantly increase the screen size.
If not, it's not changing icons colors and transparency that will save them from obsolescence.

In addition, they can even regain the lead if they
- add MicroSD card reader (which they will only do when they'll be as dead as RIM/Blackberry i.e. too late)
- add HDMI connection (they never will)
- reduce their DAS to something low (0,2 or less)
- make a water resistant phone (which they won't)
- significantly increase battery life to several days (which they won't given the new control center to switch GPS and Wifi off)

IOS7 is not disappointing, so let's hope i5S won't be either.
Many people have stayed away from iPhone5 with disappointment. Now there are plenty of other opportunities on the market, and it's not that hard to leave an inefficient ecosystem: RIP Symbian, RIP RIM, RIP WM...

Remember that they said the UI adapts to whatever background you put back there. Just use a dark background.

I didn't know that. Haven't seen the keynote yet. I will be installing it tonight when I get home from work. Hopefully the pastels will not be noticeable. I've always hated pastel colors. Reminds me of Easter, or 80s clothing.

Who cares if something was "borrowed" or whatnot. Seriously, use Android if you like it, use iOS if you like that. To claim that iOS or Android invented something is just plain ridiculous.

Any company is adding features to their own device, simple as that.

Amazing how you figured out all that from watching a keynote, huh? :rolleyes

For the record, Siri != Google Search. And even if it did, you realise that only a small fraction of people actually go and download the app and use it, right?

You never even saw Maps, either. I use it over Google Maps and find it to be quite nice, actually. Quit going by the lies that the tech blogs came out with for sensationalistic link-baiting and, I dunno, use it yourself?

Divergent

With the contrast between iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks, the operating systems no longer have a cohesive look.

I hope that the design of iOS 7 translates better in person and that the two operating systems gain more of a similar feel again in the future.

Completely wrong.

iPhone 4 and above
iPad 2 and above
iPad mini
iPod touch 5th gen
I counted the Mini as new generation product and just did not list it along iPad4. It was MacRumor's Live ticker that posted iPad4/Mini + iPhone5 only. Fortunately later the older generation were included. So no slap in the face for us iPad3 users. Thanks for that.

the new interface looks very nice and elegant. i really like the vibrant colors and simplicity. however, the icon are horrendous. i don't understand why they need to have that white border. it makes the whole thing look unpolished.

Apple adding new feature obviously is not a problem. The fact that they are doing it slower than other, however, is a problem. iOS 7 does not leapfrog Android. It stays behind.
