WE HATE CHANGE...but please change things.

you people dont know what you want.

Please get an android phone and go away or ya know...dont update..

Yup. Android is the Ford/Chevy of cars (mass production and cost over taste and design).

Apple is the German import (taste and design over mass production and cost).

I'm gonna paraphrase a friend of mine here...

You know, it's not that I disagree with you exactly. Sometimes you might actually say something I find myself nodding my head along with. But the way some of you present yourselves is so eyerollingly obnoxious, it actually makes me want to play the contrarian out of pure spite.

lol..... Nice one.

-Why have the whole parallax background where it tracks motion? That isn't flat...it doesn't do anything, it gives no added functionality, and it wastes battery.

-Why the dots for cell signal level? Don't the bars convey more info intuitively without adding complexity? Bars getting taller = better signal, compared to a row of dots that could stand for anything.

-Why have lightning strikes or blowing clouds in the weather app? (I like these BTW, but is it flat?) these are like the complete opposite of necessary.

Agree with all.. the dots do nothing, unless they get bigger... Maybe the more dots, the better ?? The bars are more visual looking at least you can see the height is different than the previous bar.

The "real time" background of the Weather app, this reminds me of Weather+ on the iPad (in the App Store).

DId they take a page from this app ?

Ok, everyone just cut it out with the 'who copied who' BS.

I had my first touchscreen phone back in 2003. An Imate JimJam (because it has 128 Meg's of RAM which was top of the line then). It ran WinMo. I loved it because it allowed me to finally combine my phone and PDA into one device.

Then 6 or so years ago I started flashing my phones with custom ROMs.. I had widgets, live antimated weather, live clocks, panoramic wallpaper, etc.over my 5 screens. In fact I can't think of one thing out now that I didn't have then except for the social integration and since I don't care about that....

Guess what, Google didn't code it, Apple didn't code it, even MS didn't code it. It was all done by some really brilliant devs over at xda-developers. I'll be honest, if you've been using smartphones as long as I have (and I've used every flavor including WebOs), almost every really good innovation built on top of an OS has come from the independent dev community. And frankly xda started it and have done most of it. Now Apple has their own jailbreak community. These are the guys who are being copied.

So each and every one of the major companies have 'copied' from not only each other but even more so from the independent devs.

So stop with the 'copy' business. It's all been copied and will continue to be copied. You sound like a bunch of 5th graders out on the play ground yelling 'my dad can beat up your dad!'.

Sheesh!

I like the look of it. I like some of the icons. While I'm GLAD they got rid of the horrible Game Center style, I don't like the icon. I will probably confuse it with Photos.

Overall, looks cleaner. I'll reserve full judgement, as always, until I have it and use it.

Old Game center horrible. New game center - modern art meets bored designer. Does not fit with gaming at all. Both icons and styles are horrible for amusingly completely different reasons.

The apple fans are also having an epic meltdown. It's mass hysteria!!!

Not really, just pointing out how:

1. Android fans find the need to watch a 2 hour Apple presentation, log into MacRumors and make disparaging remarks.

2. Apple fans don't even bother watching Google/Samsung presentations, because they don't know they exist, let alone logging into Android websites to troll.

*In short:

1. Android fans care about Apple, and they care about Android.

2. Apple fans care about Apple, but not Android.

Honest question

I have not used Android phone or JB phone so I don't know the answer to this question, but all those phones have that parralax display based on motion sensing? Because overall I don't like the look of the changes, but that feature is cool as can be and am impressed every other phone already had it. Can someone confirm that is standard on other phones?

True. But i do watch Samsung/Google presentations too,, I just don't post to them.... :)

Time to look at the big picture outside the box.

Actually, it's Apple that's claiming that these are new.

Me, I waited to see what Apple had in store, and just placed an order for the Lenovo K900.

For the foreseeable future, I am done with the iPhone and my iPhone 5 will be simply left at my office as a testing unit.

Where do you live? It's a great phone by the reviews and specs but it's only available in India, China and a few other countries. None in Europe or the US.

Terrible

Horrible. The white hurts my eyes and the icons look really really bad. Also very inconsistent use of arrows shadows and gradients. It looks like Apple are having an identity crisis. Ives is not a graphic designer, he knows jack about graphic design. Terrible skinny typeface / very bad and inconsistent use of type / horrible blurry backgrounds / with those campy 50's dots. This is a really weak redesign. Not worthy of Apple. Jobs must be looking down in total disgust. This is not the Apple I once loved. And did I mention the icons... euch. This is seriously the first time I think that I saw an Apple presentation and thought 'WHAT ARE THEY DOING!!! WRONG WRONG WRONG... 15 Apple devices I have bought in the last 13 years, always loved them, but this is really bad. Not to mention the Airport tower, what the .... haha that is a real joke. Jeez and the Mac Pro.... looks soooo cheap. I am not trolling. I have been a true mac user. So disappointed :mad::eek::(

WOW! Whilst this has tones of Android and WebOS, I don't care as it looks utterly fantastic! Man Apple's stock has just shot up in my book today! Well done! Will give me iPhone 5 a whole new lease although me thinks I should have got the white one haha!

Too simplistic for my taste

So we have this bright wonderful retina-display on our iPhones and what do they put there?

Simple childlike icons - Not using the power of the display at all...

My guess is that they already have plans for a 3D UI in the future.

When they present it people will say -

"Avesome"!

Making the sheep buy, buy and buy - Over and over again.

So far I myself have been among the sheep. But this "Bubka-style" disturbes me. Small improvements enough to sell more devices, but holding back bigger improvements for later - all for the sake of maximum profit.

(Sergej Bubka was a pole vaulter who got huge amounts of prize-money from his country every time he broke the world record. So of course he broke the world record 1 or 2 cm on each occasion. Thereby getting a lot more cash than if he had broken it with 20-, or 30 cm which he was perfectly capable of.)

It's not the fact that something changed, it's the fact that there are certain changes that are actually worse than what we had before. For the most part, I like what I've seen of iOS 7 and I'll definitely update. However, the homescreen looks hideous, specifically some of the icons. To think that some of these icons were designed and approved by a team of people working at the most successful technology company in the world, headed by perhaps the most famous and widely respected designer, is mind-boggling. I can make better icons than most of these, and I don't do interface design.

Looks nice for what it is on the White iPhone 5, I wonder what it will look like on a Black iPhone 5, to that point, I wonder if there is any truth to them releasing different color iPhone 5S's later on this year?

The Big Wonder
