No Floppy Drive Support??? DEAD IN THE WATER.

Seriously...
I have an iPad Air 2, got it 4.5 years ago, used it some for games and surfing. Never really saw the value.

Over the past year or so iPad's utility has increased but never quiiiiiiiite enough for me to care.
This probably changes everything - along with sidecar in Catalina.

I haven't felt this good about an Apple presentation in many, many years!
Nice work, folks!

... Kinda makes you giddy all over after watching it..

Is the USB capabilities for USB C ipads only? Or does this extend to lightning with a dongle?

Of course i bought the 1TB 11” model. Doh! Lol...but it did come with 6 gigs of ram so no regrets. Heh heh
I bought the 1TB 11 inch so I could have big active video projects on the iPad and now the USB-C drives will allow me to have the ability to move big projects on and off of the iPad when I am mobile and not near my NAS which is often...

Oh okay, about fonts, can you install fonts from an external drive? I’m not sure if this is ipados specific or if I should ask on the ios 13 forum...

If you can, that is KILLER

Edit: wait only ipad can read external drives right? Pls try it :D

Maybe if you have like .ttf or .otf lying around in the drive.... so far I only know you can install fonts through the app store but I’d like to install 3rd party fonts from my macbook... but if you don’t have it already, it’s alright though. Thanks for the pics so far!!

I totally disagree. He may have had problems, but I don’t. I’m typing this on an 11 inch iPad Pro and I don’t need or want a mouse or trackpad. Why don’t you just buy a Mac? It already has everything you want. The iPad is designed for touch, not for mice or trackpads. You are trying to glom an old way of doing things onto a newer paradigm.
It is simple. You don't have to use it. Why worry so hard about something that is helping some and not affecting you in the slightest?

You've actually been able to install fonts for awhile using configuration profiles. I use it to install some web fonts I regularly use. It is not a user-friendly method though. It will be really nice to be able to install fonts in an easier manner come this Fall.

I didn't expect it at all.I don't believe for a second Timmy would cannibalize the chance for you to buy an iPad, Macboook Pro, a new display and EVEN A STAND! Just know millions of people will here iOS 13 on iPad has mouse support and then go buy an iPad Pro, keyboard cover and a fancy mouse and go home and be like..... wait a second, why cant i do a right click, oh my mouse must be faulty...

Thats what you came out of the keynote with? That Apple was serious with it?
Compared to last year’s keynote which felt “phoned in”, yes. Apple is finally getting serious when it comes to the iPad by giving it a customized version of iOS that takes more advantage of the bigger display.

Finally it seems apple listened to a focus group that is not only made up of 16 year old kids.
This are features that many of us wanted that are using the iPad for rather boring applications (reviewing texts, pdf's, pictures, spreadsheets that can't be emailed for security reasons) or that have files of all different types organized in project folders and need to check them out while on a plane.
The iPad was great for media consumption and for production in creative ways. But it never was good for boring, mundane necessary tasks.

Seriously asking... HOW does this make this fulfill any more potential than it did before? How does any of this make you more productive or make it a "proper companion" than it is now? I'm just not seeing how this fundamentally changes the iPad and how you interact with it?

Don't get me wrong - cool updates, but I don't see me using the iPad any differently than I do today.
It certainly helps me personally with camera offloading and native smb that can be backgrounded. It offers. A better file system structure for photo editing apps. Potentially.

Yeah. I’ve had the app AnyFont installed on my iDevices for a few years, let’s you install fonts system wide already via configuration files that it modifies itself. Used it to add the Star Wars fonts to some of my home video projects in Luma Fusion. :) This should make it a lot easier to manage!

Ahh...but you can do a right click to bring up a menu. :) You can actually custom configure the right click to do a whole bunch of different things!

Is it possible to drag musics from a external into the music player? What about installing a external Superdrive and rip discs? Or better yet, can musics stored in the external be played in the music player?

Now with some form of mouse support seemingly.....my next ipad can be the biggest brother once it gets a oled or microled screen(major requirement after having the tab S4 and galaxy book 12)......they soon will officially be able to actually call it laptop replacement.....otherwise the 11 inch model keeps me smooth sailing.
