Such a massive upgrade for the iPad. Really makes the iPad Pro a sincerely desirable product now. The USB stuff - flashdrives, better files management, dumping files from cameras - all make it a proper computing tool in my eyes. If you already have an iPad Pro, man, what a great upgrade.

The only thing I’m still missing is a way to organize my music library with metadata editing and adding songs without Apple Music. I was really hoping with the end of iTunes we finally get that on the iPad as well since it’s the only reason I still keep my MacBook.

I like the new IPadOS update. Now, I'm just waiting for a built-in Terminal on iPadOS and relax the sandboxing rule for Safari so I can open HTML/Javascript files from Files app. Then, I can finally do website coding on my iPad instead of my MacBook Air.

Are we now able to set certain sites to always load in desktop mode?

The straight from camera thing is awesome. Particularly for holiday snaps of the family. Its just a shame it'll come too late for this years summer holiday.

To everyone wondering- the answer for copying files is yes. You can drag files from the files app right to a USB and you can select photos in the phots app and copy them to a folder right on the drive.

The way I got it, ALL sites will load to desktop mode by default, right?

Boom! This is massive!! Now bring on the video editing apps!!

And I put the USB in my MacBook Pro. The document I copied came in a .docx format (Microsoft Word for iPad) and the photos are in the .HEIC (Apple camera) format. This is a whole new way of using my iPad.

Now, THAT'S a Mac-like style device..

What starts off with larger iPad's usually come to 9.5' models too.

(Just about everything else has)

No Floppy Drive Support??? DEAD IN THE WATER.

Seriously...
I have an iPad Air 2, got it 4.5 years ago, used it some for games and surfing. Never really saw the value.

Over the past year or so iPad's utility has increased but never quiiiiiiiite enough for me to care.
This probably changes everything - along with sidecar in Catalina.

I haven't felt this good about an Apple presentation in many, many years!
Nice work, folks!

I agree. I actually meant to connect a USB CD drive! Let me do it now. Why not?

For a Touch OS all it needs is the mouse to simulate a finger without having to touch the screen so you can work on it like a laptop/desktop. The current mouse implementation is 95% there for a lot of iPad users.

Perhaps; but I'd bet most will never use a mouse with their iPad and stick with the pencil or finger; based on how they use their iPad.

No one is asking for full mouse support. That is what the Mac is for.

I disagree. Many of the programs I use are cumbersome with the pencil. It's a lot harder to create flowcharts in Omnigraffle or shapes in PowerPoint with the pencil. A muse offers a lot better fine control and fully implementing one would help move the iPad from the nice but not yet able to replace my Mac when traveling to potentially a viable alternative to taking my Mac.

What is the file type in the ipad before you copied it to the usb?

Unfortunately, as before, it will not recognize a magic trackpad or a magic mouse in the Bluetooth settings. Some kind of a software limitation as it has always been. It works with a third-party Logitech MX anywhere 2 mouse fine.
So you used a wireless bluetooth mouse and it worked?
