And here it is!

is there any idea if non-pro iPads will get this?
i have the 32gb iPad 6th gen and even if it needed the camera kit there have been times where additional usb storage would be useful.

And yes, you can drag and drop files with the mouse!

once again, its not mouse support.... All the did was allow another input device that is just like a stylus except you use the area next to you instead of the screen.

People are going to be running out buying iPads now thinking they have the equivelent of of a right left click menu mouse and will realize they cant do anything more than they could without the mouse.

The funny thing is, most people don't care anymore. My files have been in the cloud for two years now. I can't remember the last time I used USB storage.

I did care at one time, but not so much now.

You obviously are not dealing with lots of 4 gig video files... this is the one thing that has been a drag for me and am excited about this one... I have multiple 2TB drives dealing with intake and processing video and not having to rely on WiFi getting things into the iPad will be awesome...

For a Touch OS all it needs is the mouse to simulate a finger without having to touch the screen so you can work on it like a laptop/desktop. The current mouse implementation is 95% there for a lot of iPad users.

No one is asking for full mouse support. That is what the Mac is for.

why not just use the stylus then? This input method is like this... If the Apple Pencil cant do it, neither can the mouse input.

Still no way to have multiple users? It's amusing to watch Apple slowly inch iOS forward while still keeping MacOS ahead, hey they do have to sell consumers 2 devices! Apple will withhold that mouse support until the bitter end though. Kudos to Apple for this teeny tiny miniscule step forward, but I'm quite happy with my surface pro.

This, great update, but they need multi-user support......

It natively supports all the buttons on my mouse.

If you don’t like it don’t use it I guess- I’m really liking it. I set the center button on my mouse as a home button and right click brings up a menu. Sweet!

Can you explain how this works a bit more? Is there a Settings page to configure the buttons? What kind of actions can be assigned, etc.? (Also, do you have a Magic Trackpad to test with it?)

Yes, there is actually a very intuitive settings page. You can customize each detected mouse button. I do have a magic trackpad. Let me try it.

Unfortunately, as before, it will not recognize a magic trackpad or a magic mouse in the Bluetooth settings. Some kind of a software limitation as it has always been. It works with a third-party Logitech MX anywhere 2 mouse fine.

This is finally the OS the iPad deserved. This is the greatest WWDC in a long, long time. Apple is back baby!

Yeah, I’m happier with Apple than I have been in a very long time. I moved to the iPad Pro for my daily use a while ago, and it has mostly been great. But today’s announcement of iPad OS is exactly what I wanted. It fills in the gaps for me and finally catches the iPad’s OS and software up to the hardware.

I’m a VERY happy iPad Pro user today. Very happy indeed!

To everyone bitching about no mouse support:

Reminder that all the rumors mentioning it specifically said it would be hidden away in the Accessibility options and would be for wired USB mouse, not Bluetooth.

We may still be getting this support once someone checks the accessibility options in iOS 13. I never expected them to announce it during the keynote because of the way the rumor was so focused on Accessibility.

Of course, the rumor could have been wrong and all of you are right to bitch. But just saying... hold the phone for 24 hours until some people check out the beta.

I must be one of the few weird people that doesn’t care or want mouse support. If I wanted that I’d use a Mac. I’m on an 11 inch iPad Pro and I can’t imagine using a mouse with it. Or even a trackpad. That idea seems rooted in the past to me, and I don’t understand why people don’t just buy a Mac instead. The iPad was designed for touch, the Mac was designed for mice and trackpads.

Huge fail until you add Mouse support.

Seriously you could NOT have had a better demonstration on why you NEED mouse support from that guy on stage trying to select text multiple times and failing. Standing no less, hunched over with two hands and still failing to properly select the text on the first tries. We ALL know how this is. I cringe inside when I need to use my fingers to select text on my iPhone or iPad. It is a horrible experience.

Now imagine if he had been sitting, with a 12inch iPad and its type cover. With a small BT mouse, easily selecting the text. He would have gotten a standing ovation. Heck Microsoft could have come up on stage and showed off Microsoft Word with mouse support. A lot of people would have taken notice and thought..."for what I do, I can now replace my computer".

Nope. They are looking this and thinking, ok some improvements but there is no way I am remembering all of those swipes and gestures to what I can do easily with a mouse on a computer. Too make matters worse they are probably thinking...."I still need a computer and I am NOT paying these crazy Mac prices" and another Windows PC sale is made.

I totally disagree. He may have had problems, but I don’t. I’m typing this on an 11 inch iPad Pro and I don’t need or want a mouse or trackpad. Why don’t you just buy a Mac? It already has everything you want. The iPad is designed for touch, not for mice or trackpads. You are trying to glom an old way of doing things onto a newer paradigm.
