Apple Unveils iPhone 14 Pro With Dynamic Island, Always-On Display, 48MP Camera, and More

In Germany, the Pro models always cost 1149€ and 1249€ for the max models. Now, their pricing starts at 1299€ and 1449€ for the max. Can you explain why? The dollar prices stayed the same in the US, why do I have to pay more in Europe? AFAIK the exchange rate of dollar and euro is 1:1
I am aware, that taxes still go on top of Apple’s announced prices, while here it’s already included in the displayed price.

If it works like the notch, the video doesn't extend into that area unless you manually zoom in on the video.
 
No US price increase is pretty amazing. I thought for sure they would do that.

On the other hand there is a bigger gap than ever between the Pro and non-Pro so in effect a defacto price increase.

Very familiar with this tactic on the Mac. They made it so you're sort of a fool if you don't pay $200 more to get the Pro model now.

Also amazing was the $200 price drop on the 13 no? Wasn't it $100 drop for last year's model before?

I'm going to get the 14Pro Max with 512gb I currently have a 13pro with 1gb, apple is only offereing $600 trade in which is pretty low, suggestions on doing better?

iPhone 13 Pro Max was 1259 euro (21% VAT included)
iPhone 14 Pro Max is going to start at 1479 euro (21% VAT included)

only 650 euro trade-in value for 13 Pro Max 128 GB. As much as I love the new Dynamic Island, that (trade-in) price is not worth it after only 1 year.
 
I managed to miss the entire event due to other plans, but it looks like the new Pro is the one for me, g,sd they haven’t raised the prices. I’ll have to check out this new island feature. And those cameras. I don’t think bigger iPhone 14 is worth it in price next to the new 14 Pro.

AOD can be disabled on the Watch so I expect it can be on the phone, too.

The question is, can it be automated via focus modes?

Amazing how apple’s currency exchange rates work out when they’re applying values. Here’s an example from 2022

Apple Back to School Campaign 2022
Receive a gift card up to $150 in the US, in the U.K. £120

iPhone 14 Pro
From $999 in the US, in the U.K. from £1099

Using the same exchange rate as the back to school campaign in the U.K. the iPhone 14 Pro would start at £799 and if you used the same exchange rate as the iPhone 14 Pro, the BTS campaign would be dishing out gift cards for £165. Unfortunately as the consumer we just get the worst deal in both instances.

bit disappointed with the camera, Android phones are doing 8K now. Was hoping for at least 8K down-converted to 4K for increased details. Plus they seem to be stuck at 240fps for years, Sony is doing 1000fps in theirs.

Apple seem to be using the same sensors as everyone else, so I assume they just haven't bothered to enable in the software so it will be a feature for the next phone. Will probably keep my X for a bit longer as I do a lot of video on my phone, but this doesn't seem to other much over what I can currently do on the X.

A pill hole, ingenious.. We'll just rebrand it as dynamic island so we can say we invented it. Just as we did with face id(facial recognition), face time (video chat), and a host of others.

I wish they were offering a blue or green this year. The purple is beautiful, but I have a feeling I’d get sick of it quickly. Looks like this year will be Silver for me - the first time in five years!

I wonder, is this new silent mode indicator 🔕 permanent or temporary? 🤔 Will I be able I stop being afraid of missing calls if I buy the new iPhone pro?
